We bought full insurance coverage on the car. When we returned it, they found a small scratch on the bumper. We have received multiple emails from them to fill out an insurance form, threatening to cancel our coverage if we didn't return it. So we returned it. But they have sent it again. Unpleasant. Otherwise the rental was ok.

We signed up for a deal through KAYAK that specified a certain price and that there is unlimited milage included. After the booking confirmation we got a call from Avis saying the deal is not possible and brought up different terms and conditions that we agreed on.

A) First I booked a medium car for 1 day by phone. The booking nummer was 2073-8471-DK-5. Avis would have charge us for round 7271, or 1065 USD !!!!! Just before accepting the paiement I fortunately cancelled the booking.Then I made the booking via KAYAK for 69 UDS !!! . How is it possible to have such a difference in the rate 14 times more. B) Then I made the booking via KAYAK for 69 UDS !!! Before taking over the car I phoned AVIS office to tell them we could be 15 minutes to late according pick-up time and also to confirm the booking. We show up at the airport, and unfortunately the car was booked in the city. I'm so disapointed that the assistant didn't told me I have to go to the city. C) At the desk the told us our credit card is not accepted. Big discussion, and then it was finally OK. All of these points for 1 booking. Very poor service. The car was dirty (2 bottles under the seat, snack bar packaging in the pockets)... The naviation system was on "Do not use motorways", we spend long time to find out how to do to take it off. Was given a diesel car which we don’t want. It was filthy and we had to ask them to wash it before leaving. The price was more than what Experian quoted. It took nearly an hour to find where to return the rental car in Hamburg. They never answered their phones. Will not do business with this firm in the future.

Service was great but the insurance I bought through Kayak when I checked out wasn’t reflected there at the center. As such, I bought it twice which wasn’t a great experience. Why wouldn’t they see the collision and damage insurance I added when I checked out?

I never got the car. I got to the rental car company and they said that you made the wrong booking because it was for foreigners only and ended up wanting to charge me 10 times the booked price. It was a really disappointing experience. It also ruined my trip as I couldn’t make it to my destination and there was no refund due to being same day. I was standing in the middle of copenhagen on Friday at 5 pm, with no car. Kayak proved to be a really bad experience.

I preordered a 5 series BMW and received a 3 series instead with the service person nonchalantly telling me that they are in the same category. If that is really the case, that is laughable! Also, when acalculating eveything together my 280$ order summary miraculously turned into an almost 1,000$ bill after he misquoted me on the insurance and wanted to cheekily add an extra day because I arrived 30 minutes early for pick up. Car was also not in a clean condition as I would expect it.

Little information provided by staff on electric vehicle charging stations, and only after asking. Turns out these stations are relatively few in the countryside, owned by different companies with different instructions for charging and payment. With these instructions often not available in English. Some stations are super slow, haver relatively few machines or are inoperable, as noted by their google ratings once sought. Will never rent an electric vehicle by Avis/Budget, especially in a foreign country.

Everything with pickup went so smoothly! I was extremely impressed! The only thing I would have changed with drop-off is their hours. Since they close at 3pm on Saturdays there was no one to receive the car when I returned it, so I'm still waiting for my deposit to be reimbursed. We'll see how long that takes. Otherwise all was good!
