Top tips for finding cheap flights to Italy

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Italy flight deals.
  • Various airports serve Italy. When flying in from Australia, your destination airports include Rome Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in central-western Italy, Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) in North Italy, Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) in Northeastern Italy and Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP) in the southern part of Italy.
  • If you are visiting Italy during summer, consider flying into Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) in Sardinia. It’s near various beaches, including Porto Istana, Pittulongu and Cala Brandinchi, along the Costa Smeralda coastline.
  • Pisa International Airport (PSA) is known for being the largest airport in Tuscany, making it a practical destination for anyone that would like to go to cities such as Livorno, Grosseto, Massa, or La Spezia. It is also a common airport for travellers to land at if they are heading to Florence, as it is just a 1h 15min drive from the city.
  • Because flights to Italy from Australia are generally very long, many of them require travellers to have at least one stopover, generally in either Asia or the Middle East. Some convenient and common cities to stop in include Taipei, Dubai, and Seoul.
  • If you would like to visit the Mediterranean coast near the centre of Italy, choose to arrive at Rome–Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" International Airport (FCO), a destination that is known for being the largest airport in the country. From there, you can easily drive to cities like Rome, Fiumicino, and Monterotondo.
  • To explore the northern, interior part of Italy, there are two primary airports for you to choose from: Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Milan Linate Airport (LIN). While Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) is not far from cities like Como, Navara, and Varese, Milan Linate Airport (LIN) is closer to Pavia, Cremona, and Piacenza.
  • When travelling throughout the southwest region of the country, Naples Airport (NAP) is a convenient choice. It is just a short distance from the towns of Caserta, Avellino, and Salerno, and it offers a service that will bring you directly to the local ferry if you would like to leave the mainland.

Flight from Dubai to Zagreb very bad cabin crew. Bad food

I was traveling business purposes and I only had one carry on and a personal computer back pack . My carry on was 8.5 kg little more than allowable. At jfk airport check in they did not let me carry it . I was little disappointed.

Newly reconfigured 380 I assume. Has a new ife with usb c ports and Bluetooth connections

Amazing service and food. However I didn’t get chance to choose my own seat which bothered me a little.

Over all good service but from Dubai to Delhi horrible service. Not happy

Ask for extra blanket if needed. Also middle seating have bad access position to access reading light and vent so only choose those seating if traveling as family or friends, etc.

Boarding took forever! Was disappointed at checkin that they did not let me pay for an upgrade for my mother who has bad legs ! There was a seat available but they kept saying you need points ! I think that’s total BS! I had the money to pay and they made it so so difficult! Mean while onboard there’s a video showing pay upgrades available!!!!! The exit row seats we are were ok but super narrow ! Staff is wonderful

We purchased extra legroom seats for both legs of flight through budget air. Seats were not honored by emirates. Had to spend frustrating hour to get seats we paid for on first leg to Dubai. Second leg to Jakarta were denied and had to sit in middle seat. Had to spend hour on phone yesterday to try to get refund. We’re told needed to send copies of boarding passes of which already threw away first leg boarding pass. Very very frustrating. This happened as well one year ago with emirates.

Good could have been better. Emirates used to have really good food and lately it’s been sub par

Everything was excellent! It would be nice to have a slightly bigger seat

Wuhan - Dubai. Old plane: 1. Only USB charger. No power outlet to plug in.. 2. Super narrow seat layout 3. Toilet cover consistently fell down and hit my back when sitting on it.. :( 4. Entertainment system touch screen not sensitive, and need to press hard or use finger tips to hit. Crew were very nice and accommodating though.

No red vine, no whiskey, no vodka. No that I wanted all of them at once but still...

During flight, some passengers perform stomping leg exercises which disturb the comfort (I.e. sleep) of other passengers.

No good but was short flight. Both of our China Southern flights were on time. No surprises.

The flight was okay it was the kayak customer service that was poor, I have been trying to change my name on my flight ticket 3 days before my flight and nothing got done about it even tho I messaged so many times and phoned, all I got in return was that is was being processed and still to this day nothing has been done about it, I think it’s disgusting and un needed stress to the trip.

The food was perfect. The boarding process is a bit long. Given the late boarding time, I felt very tired by the time I was seated.

Quality flight from start to finish. Customer service is evidently very important to this company. The staff really exceeded expectations.

Traveling with the Chinese airlines , their service superior to the US Airlines , they are much more friendly and the seats are comfortable , In the past I flew with United , now ,United Airline will become history for me .

Pros: "Yes, seats were very comfortable and crew members were extremely helpful"
Cons: "Everything was excellent."
Pros: "see SH to GZ prior flight. The same."
Cons: "Same problems. Get KFC or McDonalds to cater. No one enjoys the airline's food which I suspect is prepared on a very small budget. Even a sandwich with a pre-packaged drink would elevate the foodservice."

The made us waiting and held our passports and boarding pass making us miss our flights

I found it weird that the quality of the flight different from Australia to Doha than the Doha to Berlin leg. The quality of the toiletries pack (was in a box from Australia) and then a proper bag from Doha. The biggest variation was the inflight entertainment, which had a significantly shorter amount of content compared to the Doha flight. My QSuite seat was also broken and did not recline all the way flat. Wasn’t the best and I wouldn’t be happy if I’d paid cash for the flight.

The crew was courteous and efficient. There was no entertainment or liquor service on this short international flight.

After going through security and waiting for the flight at the gate, there was no access to bathrooms and no place to charge a phone while waiting for the flight. But once I was on the plane, everything was very good.

Very very bad.. more than 48 hr I didn’t received my baggage yet

The flight from Doha to Mumbai with Indigo was worst in my whole life, I had booked tickets with Qatar, but still we had to fly by Indigo , worst flight

The plane from Dublin to Doha was quite comfortable. I was in economy and the seats and rows were very tight. The man in front of me reclined his seat and it made my screen incredibly close to my face and I wasn’t able to take my tray down and my knees were pressed against the seat. I had to ask three times for him to pull his seat up but in his defence he hadn’t even reclined it far, the rows were just too close. I had a pain in my side by the end of the flight from the chairs which were quite worn and not very padded or supportive. It was a significantly inferior plane to the plane from Doha to Sydney and vice versa.

The qatar airways flights were great, the code share with Indigo could have been a lot better. There is no option for web check in, there is not information on the tickets for the INDIGO PNR this caused a problem with security letting us into the airport. The indigo staff did not even want us to line up before they opened the counters. There is not option on the indigo flgith to request special meals.

Ordinary Indian food... Not great. Limited movie and TV selection

Qatar is the worst airline experience I had in a long time traveling business class, I believe the hype is all paid for by bloggers.

Following a marathon flight riddled by delays and changes from Santiago, Chile, my flight to Melbourne from Sydney was on schedule but I was transferred to the next flight. The reason by ticketing and the floor manager was I missed the entry to flight by one minute! That's right, the emphasised that if I was 1 minute earlier I would be on the flight. I asked what was the point them emphasising 1minute overdue and how that helped me or the situation. They didn't care at all. Replying that if it was one minute earlier they would've done something and smirking delivering the information. Australian's do call Australia home, Qantas calls Australian's suckers.

1) crackly headphone jack 2) one of the emergency seats recline. Usually second row does. But in this case neither did 3) food was scrambled eggs or fruit. 4) fruit should not be the option to eggs 5)miserable unpleasant crew not a smile. Thought that was a virgin thing

Qantas are unable to service and unfit for purpose, they cannot transport Australians on time to overseas destinations. On top of the inflated ticketing, the Sydney flight to Santiago was impacted because the plane was delayed arriving and then further bungling by Qantas admitting the ground new ground crew in charge of cleaning were not trained. The impact on passengers with connecting flights was tremendous and long ques of frustrated passengers waiting for rescheduling. **Qantas has become the Australian Spirit of disappointment**

The staff we fantastic and seemed to work very well with each other

Business lounge in Melbourne mediocre. Look at Emirates or Qatar, Qantas! Great friendly crew. Food was good but Emirates is a level above. Business seat good. But can’t compare to Qatar. Main reason for booking Qantas is loyalty and terrific connection via Perth to LHR.

I was pleasantly surprised with my flight to LA with Qantas. Although seats were not the roomies, service was excellent.

The service and smooth landing. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly. We arrived earlier than scheduled.

Wonderful crew, good food. Absolutely loved the wine spritz and wish I could buy it!

Don’t like last minute airline change. Not able to choose seat earlier.

It's only a short trip from Sydney to Melbourne, which i have done many times. The trip met my expectations

Great staff and food. Seats pretty uncomfortable but plenty of legroom. Entertainment system outdated.

Gatwick London-Shanghai -Bangkok.. Would have liked entertainment screens, but I know these planes are not that new. Cheap flights at the time of booking, Emirates wanted double so you get what you paid for. I would fly again with them, but if Emirates was the same price I would go with them.

The landings were smooth . Being unable to check-in online was terribly stressful and the queue at Haneda exemely long. We paid extra for window seats and did not get them.

Couldn’t fly since they wouldn’t issue a boarding ticket. Something to do with not taking the departing flight since it was cancelled due to weather. No notice or anything about the trip being invalid. The app made it seem like I was all good for it. Never trusting travel agency

A lot of value considering the cheap ticket prices. All meals served were Chinese food. Would fly them again considering the ticket was half the price of any others

Pros: "The flight was smooth. Food was on time . Wine is available for the anxious flyers who can’t sleep."
Cons: "Better softer hand soap , sprays and lotion . Sleep mask"
Pros: "Great crew in business class!"
Cons: "Wifi was terrible, entertainment is below average and angle seats for a 12 hour flight is sub par. The food was so so"
Pros: "My flight was canceled but the ground crew was amazing I was really worried but China Eastern's ticket people were very professional! Highly recommend."
Cons: "The plane stopped at an airport between Shanghai and Kunming, which was not shown in iteneray. I got off at this airport thinking I arrived in Kunming. . I was told that I have to check in again at Kunming. When I tried to check in again, there was only one person in the entire airport checking in passengers and she spoke no English. We finally figured out what had happened and barely made it back to the plane before it departed for Kunming."
Cons: "Layover was too long. The airline changed the flight schedules"
