Pros: no problems
Cons: I would have prefered a smaller vehicle. I chose the mini-van because the per-day cost was lower than the compact or mid-size vehicle.

Pros: Relaxed and good customer service. Was able to drop off the car at a different location than I picked it up, in fact was able to leave it at my hotel and they picked up the car there. There was a little bit of leeway on the amount of gas to keep in the car upon return. Overall, very happy with the price, service, and the vehicle.
Cons: No negatives or surprises which is always nice.

Helpful attendant made the difference
Pros: Excellent service by Gentry, the person who processed our car rental.
Cons: Flexibility to accomodate customer needs, we needed a van because of a death in the family. We got what we needed with at an affordable rate. Took just 10 minutes total.

Pros: Check in was quick and easy. I liked being able to pay in advance for gas missing from tank at a fair market price and only for the gas needed rather than a tank fill up price. I liked being able to pick up the car in Watertown, but yet drop it off at Logan Airport.

Great experience with a couple bumps
Pros: Service was fast and the car ran great.
Cons: There was no washer fluid so when I got on the highway in the aftermath of a snow storm the wipers would smear the muddy water and freeze so I couldn't see out of the window. Also, I had purchased a few items and when I went to put them in the trunk of the car I found the back to be really messy with dirt and leaves. Also, I wasn't given any information on how they would charge me for gas (I ended up finding out by reading the fine print) and wasn't warned about the extra $250 deposit hold that would be put on my card.
Pros: The pick-up and return were pretty smooth. Staff was quite friendly and was not aggressive in pushing customers to purchase additional insurance/service items. Conditions of the car was good. The location is quite convenient for me and accessible by public transportation. The price for the weekend deal is pretty good. I will rent the car again from this company.

Cons: Car was dirty, service was poor, and the experience was not pleasant. I'll probably never rent from and off/site location again. If it's not at the airport I'll pass.

Not sure who's worse, Kayak or Hertz
Pros: I needed a car at Logan Airport Boston, arrived and went to the rental center. Firstly neither the car center nor Hertz had a wheelchair for my disabled wife. She had to painfully hobble to a bench, ok happens all the time. However the Hertz counter staff were such jerks. I'm the only one in line and there were 3 of them, each cast a glance my way then went back to their computer screen. I realized they were either fools or biased against me since I'm white. So I marched right up to the first person and said "can you help me?" she begrudgingly said yes.
The next delight was the clerk told me Kayak made my reservation to pick up in downtown Boston and could not help me, I had to get into Boston by taxi. That was the part that made me upset so I protested. The clerk lazily drawled "ah'l see whats I cans do" which gave me a real boost of confidence in her abilities. She ended up letting me pick up there but would have to drop in downtown Boston Can you believe it? I dropped the car back at Logan at the end of my trip.

Kayak provided an excellent deal!
Pros: I rented a compact and the Hertz company ran out so gave me a slightly larger car. They were so nice and accommodating. The location was a little difficult to access since it wasn't at the airport location but it was fine because we needed the car during our vacation, not at the beginning nor end. It was also very clean. I secured a rental for $16/day during the Thanksgiving Day weekend and it was honored. No scam!!
Cons: Location of the Hertz.

Safety should be number one
Pros: The young man who helped us was very nice and worked hard. It appears that he was a one man show in that, he was brushing snow off of cars and then running into to help customers. I admired his can do attitude. The car we got was a small Chevy. It's an interesting little economy car that rides pretty nicely and handles well for what it is.
Cons: I didn't like that my wife whose rental it was was given a car without washer fluid and tires that were inflated from 8-10 pounds. I contacted Hertz twice and was told by agents to bring it up when I turn the rental in. That is not good enough for me; I think something should've been done then. I ended up contacting Hertz on line who, as I write this, is researching the case. I am most disappointed in Hertz. I thought they were number one but that may be from my memory of them in the 70s. I'll see how they handle these safety concerns and decide if I'll ever do business with them again.

Pros: By mistake I had rented at Harvard Square rather than Logan Airport and they were able to transfer reservation and accommodate me at Logan. Wini did the heavy lifting and was most helpful.
