The Chester Residence

Everything about the place was spot on. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, professional, room had everything we needed, great selection of teas and coffees, mini bar well stocked. Will be returning

Beautiful old solid building really well fitted out, very high standard of furnishings and fixtures, they have thought of just about everything. The finish is absolutely luxurious, the spa pool, the cinema room, generally throughout. This is my second stay at the Chester residences

I would really have appreciated two or four small complimentary bottles of water in the room, I think there was one small one in the fridge minibar. Would have liked to have seen a more thorough breakfast menu, perhaps the in room breakfast was a limited variation of what might be available in the main building. After a good weekend a hearty breakfast would be welcome not just a croissant and piece of ham and cheese

I am fortunate to live in Edinburgh city centre, in a first floor converted townhouse apartment so am used to the high ceilings and large rooms. My own flat was rented for the Edinburgh festival and coming back from europe I needed somewhere to stay for two days. I also used to live two streets away from the Chester Residence so I know what a nice, safe, leafy pleasant location it has. I stayed in the first floor 1-bed Deluxe apartment on Chester Street (they also have 3 connecting townhouses on Rothesay Place) and it was terrific - large rooms, high ceilings, large picture windows, and sympathetic contemporary decor. Its the best commercial apartment conversion I have stayed in in Edinburgh. Location wise it is quiet but within 5-10 minutes there are plenty of cafes and bars, and Princes Street and George Street are about 5 minutes walk away

I stayed on a Sunday and Monday night - it was a bank holiday monday so schools/businesses were closed for the two days but I know from experience that at normal peak times Chester Street can take quite a lot of traffic; my suggestion if traffic noise bothers would be to try and book one of the first floor apartments on Rothesay Place as this street has minimal traffic and is quieter; the bedroom on chester street looks over leafy communal gardens and was very pleasant - except for a dog next door that was barking repeatedly on both days because the weather was hot and they were out in the garden - however I could have come back and stayed during a normal business week and never seen the dog and its not the fault of the hotel.

Hot tub and tv in bathroom was amazing

Cinema pity though was not working, property gave us breakfast and a discount on a later booking

Space, cleanliness and staff were very good

Just for staff to note for improvement - TV was ‘dark’ but couldn’t be adjusted, no car parking. Limited breakfast

Very friendly and helpful staff, rooms are extremely spacious! Our favourite hotel of our entire Europe trip. Would definitely recommend.

Located a bit outside of Old Town Edinburgh, but easily accessible via bus or about 15-20 min walk
