My business partner and I were in Chicago for two trade-shows (one downtown and one by O'hare). Most of the hotels we looked at were ridiculously expensive, but after a bunch of searching he discovered the Motel 6 which was an EXCEPTIONAL value. Based only on price, we were a bit unsure what the quality of the accommodation might be like, but were VERY pleasantly surprised. Excellent value -- no doubt we'll stay there again the next time we're in town.

Pros:I liked the price, and the staff were friendly.
Cons:The bath tub had some stains on it that didn’t sit well with me personally, and the hair dryer included in the room did not work. The staff wouldn’t replace with a functioning one for my stay either.

Pros:Location of the motel being right next to O'Hare is nice.
Cons:I needed a hotel last minute to cover a couple days in Chicago before heading down south towards St. Louis. I noticed on Kayak that this motel was a pretty good value overall for the location and need of the two nights. I booked the room, proceeded to call the motel and talk to the front desk. I advised them that my girlfriend would be flying in Thursday morning around 2 AM (I booked Wed - Friday morning specifically for that reason). I made sure with the front desk agent that this wouldn't be an issue because of the late check-in, they advised me it would not. I suggested maybe a note on my reservation to ensure it doesn't get removed. I then asked exactly how to get a shuttle from the airport to the motel. They advised me that after 11 PM they no longer do 30 minute interval shuttles, but they do the shuttle based on call from airport only. I detailed all that information to me girlfriend who proceeded to advise me that none of these things worked out properly. Upon arrival at the airport she immediately called the motel number I gave her for the shuttle. After multiple attempted phone calls with no answer, she gave up and grabbed an Uber to the motel. Upon arrival she waited for a front desk agent to help her, finally after about a 30 minute wait someone came out and assisted her. While being assisted she noticed that the front desk agent (a woman) refused to answer the phone to which my girlfriend made the comment "Do you guys answer the phone?" Upon her researching the reservation number I provided for my girlfriend, she advised her the reservation was cancelled due to her not showing up on time for the check-in. They were able to get her a room that worked because of availability, but this was a pain compared to the preparations I purposely made to avoid all this work for us coming in late to the motel.
