Dom José Alojamentos

Fantastic old granite building with high ceilings and large rooms. Mine had windows and a view to a lovely little garden at the rear. Staff were excellent as was breakfast. Good location to explore the old centre of Guimaraes. Close to regional bus station and local buses.

Great location, nice garden to sit out in the city centre. Everything you need was available.

Awful lift- very slow and smelly. Coffee wasn't great. No parking on site. Rooms were small.

Hotel is located in a remarkable position, close to the sights, train station and bus terminal. There are many cafes and restaurants around, two supermarkets and a small shop with fresh fruits. The entrance, interior spaces and rooms are decorated with great taste, with attention to details. My room was very pleasant: modern bathroom, comfortable bed and pillows. You can make the lights bright or dull as you want them to be. I didn't have any complaints about room cleaning. I didn't have any unpleasant smells of dampness in my room, common in Portugal. There are at least three or four power socket in the room. I had no problem charging it at the same time my phone, photo camera and and camcorder batteries. Breakfast was good enough for me. Staff is polite and professional, fluent in English. Hotel has a small and charming courtyard with well-groomed trees and flowers, tables, armchairs and ashtrays. I'm a smoker, so it's very important to me. There's even a small glass roof for smoking in the rain. Finally, if I want to visit Guimaraes again, I'll only stay in Dom Jose Alojamentos.

The coffee at breakfast was not freshly perculated and no museli or granola available.
