Poor Customer Service at Pick-Up
Pros: The Nissan Rogue was a great ride! The car was clean.
Cons: I arrived on time for pick up and the two female customer service agents were engaging in personal conversation throughout this process. They did not acknowledge me right away and just ignored me as I stood there waiting for a proper greeting, which I never received. The one with the visible tattoos ended up processing my order after they passed me back and forth. She told me that I was lucky because they only had one car left. Really? I had a reservation made well in advance. She uses her long nail to awkwardly tap on the keyboard which is comparable to fingernails on a chalkboard. The agent takes me to the car, which is parked in the rear of the building and begins to takes pictures. I open the door and the smell of smoke is so strong that I make a face. I told her that this is not going to work. She grumbles and grabs the keys from me and has me follow her back inside, informing other employees along the way that she will be late for her training session and that they better not make her stand up and do "I'm a Little Teapot" because it's not her fault. She announces to the staff that that I do not like the vehicle and whines out-loud that it's too smoky. One of the reasons I rented from Hertz was because they have a no-smoking policy, should I be blamed for them not cleaning the car properly? She goes back to the computer and says to the other female agent that she will be late for the meeting and continued a personal conversation. This agent is not smiling, is not making eye contact, is not engaged in ME. She then loudly tells me that the only car she has left has zero gas in it and I could wait while they fill it or take it as it is and return it with no gas. I need to get on the road, take the car with gas vapors just enough to get me to the gas station. She says to the male manager that I need a car that isn't smoky. She made me feel like the most unimportant customer she has ever had. When I returned the car several days later, I asked the male agent if he was the manager. He said he was and I told him my story as her processed my return. He asked "What would you like me to do for you?" I told him to train his employees better, paid the bill and left. He was not genuine either. I do not recommend this location.
Most Effective check-out process
Pros: Hertz Rental handles check-in & check-out process extremely effective: no line waiting, paper to fill, Qs to answer, etc. I got a Jeep SUV which is a plus while I ordered mid-size. It helps safety drive during heavy snow weather.
Cons: One of (Jeep Compass') 4 tires has problem. It leaks air after certain distance drive. The icon light up when we picked up and the attendant pumped air for us, so icon disappeared. However it did not resolve the real problem. The tire leaks air every so often. We had to fill air frequently during the 3 weeks and 10 days rental.
Pros: I appreciated the ease in making the arrangements to rent the car. Staff was very pleasant.
Lost hours of our vacation because the Car locked
Pros: Only thing we liked was that hertz had a mini van to rent
Cons: Only one person working the location. Took over an hour to rent and over 30 min to drop off. The car was nasty so I had to clean it before we even used it. During out vacation the car locked us out in a parking lot when it was over 100 degrees. Took about 4 hours before finally a tow truck driver broke into the car. He even said he has never heard of the key also not working. I should say we had the key fab. So when we took the key out and put it in the door it also didn't work. We have tried calling the regional manager of Downers Grove and he won't call us back. When we talked to him the second time he forgot who we were. I would never rent from this company again. Such poor service for using hertz the first time.
Pros: The price
Cons: That i absolutely got what i paid! This car smelles like something died in it! It was covered in stains! It didn't even have cruise contol or a decent radio.
