The area is amazing. The hotel is beautiful. Staff in the restaurant, common areas and room cleaning was really nice. It was my second visit, unfortunately this time was not as good as the first one.
I booked a taxi to the airport with specific requirements, they didn't do the reservation properly. The receptionist said it was not her responsibility and was extremely rude and hands off even though the bellboy told me it was their mistake. He did solved my problem and was very helpful. Only one restaurant was open for breakfast and dinner. AC didn't always work properly in the room.

Great location! Just down the street from great restaurants and from shopping. We ate mostly outside the resort because it was way cheaper and had so many options for good food! Food at resort was good, but definitely more $. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Shout out to Rene at the front desk, Samuel The manager, Antonio Concierge, and Miguel (helped with baggage) who became my buddy! They were great!! They made sure to make my birthday trip special! I would stay here again!
First room we upgraded to by the infinity pool was very noisy. But we were moved. We did hear base some nights, but it’s down the street from some popular clubs. Beach is not private but apparently none are in Mexico. Had some bug issues in our room. They do provide spray. Had about 5 though and I hate “water bugs” more than anything. That was unfortunate. Didn’t ruin stay though.

We got upgraded to a beach view room. This hotel is amazing. Beds are comfy and rooms are super clean. Walking distance to the main road.

The staff are wonderful, particularly the breakfast staff Marcial is amazing and gave the best service every single day. The towel boys are all amazing. Reception staff are really polite. The grounds are beautiful, pools are beautiful and the food is exquisite. The food at ollas is better than fuego but all in all a faultless resort.
Only negative is the alcohol and food prices outside of the bed and breakfast rate. And they seem to get a little annoyed if you buy beers from the local shop and sit on the beach even though they are 1/10th of the price.

Playa del Carmen is a town that is always alive with music, events, and natural beauty to enjoy. Those looking to learn and explore can take a short trip away from Mahekal to see the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum, Coba. In the other direction, guests will find world-class coral reefs for exploring while snorkeling or scuba diving.
Mahekal has many rooms that can be arranged in several different configurations depending on how many guests will be visiting. The rooms themselves have primarily the same accommodations, the main differences are the views offered by each one. Guests who want views of the water will want an Oceanfront room, while those wanting to enjoy the lush gardens should book the Treehouse King, with the largest view of Mahekal expansive tropical gardens.
Hungry guests will have plenty of dining options to choose from. There are six full-sized restaurants available, as well as in-room dining for visitors who would rather enjoy their meals in the comfort of their suites. A few of the on-site restaurants include Cocina Restaurant, which offers visitors a buffet of regional Mexican, Yucatan, and Latin American dishes. There is also Las Olas, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with nightly specials and international fare.
