Colina Village

Carvoeiro was fantastic! Plenty going on, nice beach too, but a far cry from the likes of other places which have been invaded by Irish bars/steak houses etc. (I like them by the way, just not with family/young kids in tow!). The outdoor swimming pools and surrounding area were spacious and well-kept (plenty of sun loungers assuming you don't turn up midday... even then we did find a couple). There are plenty of families with children here too which was welcome. Some groups of younger folk but no daft behaviour/noise from them really (bar one plonker thinking he was in Ibiza dancing round poolside - bless him!). The apartment was MASSIVE!

The apartments were a strange mix of recently renovated (e.g. kitchen/bathroom) and old battered decor (living space/bedrooms/'balconies'). But, even the renovated areas were grubby/tired/worn. It feels like malfunctioning time-travel! Overall, the quality of the apartment was lacking, more akin to 2-star stays I think. Ants.... there were that many I'm sure I brought some home in my pants! Still, it was nice to brush one's teeth with much company! The oven didn't work well at all... we ended up grilling a pizza which is a first (I wouldn't recommend!) The indoor pool and the areas surrounding it (Changing rooms/toilets) were dirty. The location is so-so. Luckily we had a car, I wouldn't have liked to walk to Carvoeira, particularly with kids.

The location was a close drive to the beach and main center and grocery store.

The AC in the main living area did not worked well at all. Our kids had to sleep in our bedroom. There was a bad smell, probably outside sewer, coming from the bathroom toilet area.

A/C did not work in three of the rooms. When we reported the issue to management, they kept saying that parts were broken and couldn't be fixed until the next day. We spent two days without A/C, and management refused to provide any fans. Even when we spoke with the manager, his response was that he's not working and would not address the problem until the next day. We canceled our booking and returned to Lisbon early. Also, the place is crawling with ants. Definitely do not recommend. Splurge and find better accommodations near the beach.
