Pros: This property was so quiet and peaceful. They brought us breakfast and dinner in our front deck every day which was amazing. The food was the best we’ve had on the island. The beds were comfortable. The shower was great, plenty of hot water. I didn’t get a single mosquito bite here which is unheard of for me.

Pros: Our 2nd room was much better. It had coral right in front of the ladder into the water with many fish. We even saw an eel and a small reef shark. The buffet breakfast was good, as well as the buffet dinner on the beach.
Cons: Our first room, room 501, was not at all what we had hoped. First, there was bird poop all over half of the deck and the lounge chairs. At our request, the staff did clean this up quickly. Second, the currents had carried seaweed and a few pieces of plastic garbage right in front of our bungalow. We changed rooms.

Pros: Very close to the “swimming with rays & sharks” location. The resort to the ferry is far but transportation is available, including bus
Cons:
6.7 Good
Pros: Over the water bungalow and easy access for snorkeling. Friendly staff!
Cons: The food was subpar, eat offsite whenever possible. Breakfast buffet was the only exception. Even made request to speak with someone at front desk regarding the resort Special, The Umete. No one contacted us back as promised. Terrible, do not order. The WiFi was not good at all, one bar if you’re lucky.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel facility and the rooms, as well as the lagoon and sporting equipment and pools and beach were A+ amazing!!!! Absolutely gorgeous! We actually loved the room and plunge pool tremendously and the grounds were very well laid out.
Cons: The transit room, which we first came upon on arrival had paint peeling off the wall and wasn’t very appealing. The food at the restaurants was fine, but it was tiresome after 3 days. The staff were friendly and helpful but seemed uncomfortable with trying to make any accommodation outside the norm. My daughter fell and hurt her knee badly and I asked for a first aid kit and all they could produce was a bandaid.

Pros: Manava was low key and beautiful, perfect for our honeymoon. The overwater bungalow was amazing. Beautiful views, friendly staff, very well kept and clean property. Loved the pool and kayaks/paddleboards for guests to use. 10
Minute walk to nearby restaurants and shops, although these are overall limited on the island. Only wish the food at the resort restaurant was better and more reasonably priced. Staff was helpful in booking dinner reservations and excursions. Would recommend rudys restaurant, carmelines for breakfast, the atv tour and beginners scuba dive. Overall wonderful resort and would highly recommend!

Pros: The immediate staff (waiters, bartenders, hostesses and cleaning crew) were friendly amd attentive.
Cons: 1. The management team both on site ad with their management company (SPG) were completely unresponsive and inpersonal to comments or requests. 2. The property had several unoccupied premium overwater bungalows throughout the 12 day stay I was there. yet they would never allow me to upgrade (even at my own expense). 3. The non premium bungalow I was put had absolutely no way to swim in the water as the reef was approximatly 1-2 feet below the ladder access. As a result, we left our stay at this hotel a day earlier and paid again for a night at a different property (no refund offered or expected from Manava)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel with good facilities.
Cons: Hotel feels old and could use some maintenance and an update.

Pros: Mark is so hospitable, warm and accommodating. He personally picked me up from the last ferry from Tahiti and then took me to a grocery store to buy groceries and food. He's passionate about ensuring his guests are fully taken care of and have the best experience. The houses are very well kept up, and they are so cheap given what you get. Bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and the villa has a living room with an indoor/outdoor area. Bugs were not a problem (I visited in winter) but they were when I was in Tahiti. I surfed Teahupoo before coming to Mark's Place. However, Hapiti is a GREAT wave to surf. You take one of Mark's canoe's out and tie it up to a buoy and you have a perfect left with friendly locals and a deeper reef. It's a left that can barrel when it get's big. I met so many awesome travelers at Marks place. I traveled alone but would be awesome to go back with a significant other. Expect a calm relaxing getaway with great people and great hospitality. Thanks Mark!!!

Cons:
1.0 Poor
Pros: Beautiful garden with beautiful bungalow
Cons: We were verbally assaulted and physically threaten. Upon arrival, I was informed by the receptionist that the bungalow I had booked for my friend and I , was occupied, and that the only option left was a studio but that I would probably not like it. We decided to have a look and as she predicted we did not like it. Poor standard, sketchy apartment No mosquito screen, infested of mosquito Extremely hot, the ceiling was very low and one bed was right underneath Not very clean, very old and dirty appliance I told her that I was not satisfied at all and wanted to speak to the owner. She called him and handed me the phone. The owner started right off the bat to be rude and very unpleasant, and was not understanding my disappointment. I explained to him calmly that I booked a bungalow with a certain standard and that the studio was far from being that. The owner insisted that really it was no big deal and that I was getting a better one (bigger place) and then he started to criticize and insult french people and told me that I should go back to France I told him that I did not understand why he was saying all this and he replied I don't understand why you're not happy so I told him the place sucks, and then the owner completely lost it, he insulted me and said that he will beat me badly. When he arrived, he almost hit me, verbally attacked us with racist and homophobic insults and then again physically threaten us and asked us to leave. After 45 MIN I managed to calm him down and decided to stay (no other option around and very late) . The day after he passed by and did not even say hello nor apologize. Very unpleasant experience and unfortunately this is not the first time someone reports physical threat and verbal aggression.

Pros: The restaurant dock is good to look out and see the fish, although food was not good and expensive.
Cons: Clean but old with no updates, poor view 90% of rooms can’t see water. 3 cockroaches I caught and threw outside. Ants were all over wooden desk. We will not be back to this motel.

Pros: The location on Cook's Bay was scenic. The long dock allowed for lovely vistas. While we didn't eat in the restaurant, we did have a glass of wine which was fairly priced.
Cons: This hotel must have been nice years ago, but is shabby now. Lots of bugs! We found it nearly impossible to get service at the front desk most days. TV is not a vacation priority, but the one in our room had only local channels. CNN was available only by sitting in the reception area. Internet access was spotty, unlike our other hotel on Mo'orea. There was no access to swimming in the bay from the hotel, just a dock for boats to pick people up.

6.3 Good
Pros: I had a bungalow right next to the lagoon. It was nice. Bring your snorkeling gear, because there are many exotic fish in there. The location was also superb. The room was clean & bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: Beautiful setting in a quiet bay surtounded by spectacular mountains. But for that money I was expecting more. Small things like free bottled water or coffee making facility inside bungalow goes a long way to improve customer satisfaction. The breakfast I paid for consisted of only coffee & toasts. If you want a buffet, you pay extra. They've also taken off connection to the room light so I had to rely on bedside lamps - it was so dark I couldn't find stuff once the sun went down. Everything about this place is 'stingy' and you feel like you've been 'cheated'. To cut the cost even further, the person at the reception is also looking after the restaurant & bar.
