After being greeted with a cooled refreshing towel and a cup of coffee, we were shown our room. I very much enjoyed the architecture and decorational style and the breakfast on the rooftop was exceptional! Very friendly staff!

Very authentic rooms and buildings. Roof-top is the best. Welcome drinks are great - any coffee from the menu. Wifi is good. Helpful staff to arrange us a taxi for coming back to airport.
A bit far from the beach and the attractions. There are a lot of noises in the room. Motorcycles, talkings from the streets. We can't sleep very well at Espresso Room. Bathroom is seperate from the room. But bathroom conditions a bit hard to describe. Inside it is so hot and humid. Strict check out time. No need for pressure.

This small boutique hotel in the middle of Stone Town is a hidden gem. The whole hotel has an amazing atmosphere and to be able to enjoy the sunset/sunrise at the roof-top is breathtaking. Wonderful staff as well that delivers superb service and makes you feel at home right away.
The traditional swahili-style wooden beds are a piece of art, but does squeak a bit when moving and turning, which might make a light sleeper wake up. The external bathroom attached to the Excelsa room looks like it got a water damaged wall and would need some renovation to get rid of the murky smell, luckily there's a vent and a fan that makes the air a bit more fresh.

We really loved this hotel! It is consistently ranked as one of the best coffee shops in Tanzania and beyond - so if you are into coffee, it's a hell of a stay. The rooftop where you eat breakfast is absolutely gorgeous and private to the hotel guests in the morning. We had the room with the private bathroom down the hall and it was totally fine. The bathroom itself is great and it's five steps away. We really appreciated the air conditioning unit - came back for a break after a very hot morning getting lost (on purpose) in Stone Town. It was also great that they offered water to fill our bottle. Just a tip: If you arrive in the evening, just knock on the door. They have a gentleman who works the evenings who will check you into your room. It is only a very short walk from the nearest place a taxi can pull up - ours walked us up to make sure we didn't get lost in the dark. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Nothing!
