This is the half-price ticket program offered by the Government to get Australians travelling and supporting tourism operators, businesses, travel agents and airlines who continue to do it tough through COVID-19, while our international borders remain closed. The Government has committed to paying half of the airfares on select routes based on average fares from February 2021.
At the time of publication, there will be 800,000 tickets for sale.
The fares are available to book from 1 April. Tickets will need to be booked by 31 July for travel by 30 September 2021.
You will be able to access reduced ticket prices at the time of booking, rather than through a separate voucher or reimbursement system.
Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin and Rex (for some of the regional destinations).
At the time of publication, the following destinations are included: Adelaide, Alice Springs, Avalon, Broome, Burnie, Darwin, Devonport, Gold Coast, Hobart, Kangaroo Island, Lasseter, Launceston, Merimbula, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Tropical North Queensland (Cairns) and Whitsundays and Mackay (Prosperine and Hamilton Island) (more destinations may be added at a later date).
