The woman who checked us in helped us a ton by getting our seats switched to be near each other for both this flight and the following flight from nadi to LA. She was great. Most helpful person I came acrossl.
Very roomy and comfortable seats, which was important on a 15 hour flight! Great service, good food, endless supply of drinks ( water) . Bathrooms were kept clean and neat the entire flight.
Great experience overall
The flight attendants gave stellar service, especially the ones from Hawaii !!! I wasn't feeling very well and they noticed and checked up on me and made sure I was hydrated and got something to make me feel better. (I was so grateful to have a mom~type take care of me, on a long flight.) Thank You!!!
The lack of space - in the isles AND in between the seats in front of us. Anytime the person in front of me wanted to recline their seat, it made it hard for me to even get out and go to the bathroom. That was not pleasant.
The reclining seats only work if you are shorter than 187cm I'm taller and so I had to bend my knees as there is nowhere else for your legs to go!
The Chardonnay was warm - when served with tasty smoked salmon turned me off.
The pillow was a $2 one lumpy and next to useless it's too big for the room you have.
My entertainment system was reset three times and it still didn't work properly - no sound and no ability to watch movies that were not child rated.
Stewards have to learn to be quiet as some of us are trying to sleep on a 15 hour flight and aren't interested in their laughs and jokes as we are travelling business first because we have to go to work when we get there!!
Nothing. I wasn't able to board the flight, so I wouldn't know.
The staff from Air NZ made me lose my flight, keeping me doing queue after queue to pay for a piece of luggage that (apparently) was not included in a $350 fare. They wanted me to pay between $160 and $200 for putting a backpack in the plane!! Pay for almost another flight entirely! While I was going through the queues, the check in time ran out and, by the time I got to talk to someone at the desk to pay for the bag, the woman told me the plane didn't accept any more passengers... while I was still trying to get someone from the airline to help me! ONE HOUR BEFORE DEPARTURE. The plane was supposed to departure at 8:15 and I was still there at 7:15 trying to send my backpack to the cargo area...the solution? Re-book the flight, make me pay $185 in penalties and fees, plus $160-$200 for luggage and the difference of price when booking another flight.
Alecia (flight attendant) was pleasant and helpful.
Being in the air for an extra twenty minutes and wondering if we were in an Erebus situation due to low cloud. I had assumed that planes had navigational instruments to assist landings in low cloud, but it seems that much depends on actual physical visibility. Is this something to do with the fact that flight control towers are not manned? It was very disconcerting and the pilot's seemingly casual attitude did not really help.
I was grateful to finally be able to land but was told on disembarkation that had there been 50ft less visibility, we would have been on our way back to Auckland!
Air Canada ground crew where very good and helpful as where all staff
Plane was overly cramped, if you eliminate one set of seats and only had 8 across and less row,
I think you would make great improvements to overall customer satisfaction if the seating was mad alittle more comfortable
Cabin crew was efficient and friendly. In general, your baggage policy is horrible. Only airline I'm familiar with that only allows one checked bag?? I believe your aircraft baggage capacity is equal to any other aircraft of the same model so why the one bag limit. The landing in Nadi was horrible. The plane hit so hard on landing that it bounced up and hit hard again. Everyone was scared and holding tight to the seat in front of them. What was equally disturbing was that neither the pilot or co-pilot ever came on the speaker and said ANYTHING! No explanation, apology or anything-complete silence.
This was very unprofessional and makes me wonder what was going on in the cockpit? Seemed to take an in ordinarily long time to clear food trays after the meal. They were offering seconds on beverages before they had even cleared the trays.
Ethiopian Airlines check in staff made a pigs-ear of my check in process. First they claimed I'd missed the flight (my ticket said 2335 on 15 Dec, they changed flight to 0010 on 16 Dec, but claimed that as my ticket was for 15 Dec my booking was invalid). They proceeded to re-issue me with a new ticket a (for the 0010 fight on 16 Dec), but then also tried to change my connecting flights by one day - even though they should remain the same (in effect the flight was only put back by 35 minutes, so why change a booking for connecting flight by 24 hours?). Fortunately on arrival in Shanghai, air china check me onto the correct flight. However, to compound matters, my luggage has gone missing and, bizarrely, Ethiopian airlines issued all foreign passengers with landing cards for Japan - not China!
Food was better than most. The crew was nice. The flight departed promptly.
The touch screen didn't work, and the bar below the chair that one can step on couldn't hold itself up, and I constantly had to reposition it. The audio port of the seat next to me didn't work either. The plane definitely needs a renovation.
The service was pretty good. I only had an hour to board my next flight, so flight attendants moved me up towards the front of the plane so that I could exit earlier than others. I was able to make it to my next flight.
There was a 3-hour delay after all the passengers boarded. We were all sitting inside the plane without any explanation. At first, the captain blamed airport for not giving any updates on their departure, and a flight attendant that I talked to blamed the local temperature, which was a total nonsense. Later the captain announced that there was an issue with the engine.
My layover was supposed to be 4.5 hours, but it got cut to 1 hour due to the unexpected delay that they had not clearly explained. I had to run to catch my next flight. When I got to my final destination, I found out Air China did not transfer my bag on time, so I had to file extra paper works in order to receive my bag two days later.
