The first car to which I was assigned smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. I had to go back to the counter and wait in line behind several other customers to ask to be assigned to another vehicle. The representative, while not very pleasant and certainly not apologetic, did give me another vehicle, which was not very clean. The vehicle (Ford Escape) performed fine and then the drop-off on return was quick and easy.

The amount stated for booking was tripled at pickup, so Kayak never actually gave me a deal on my rental. I will NEVER recommend Kayak for deals, you guys don't make deals on price only book the vehicle.

We waited 2 hours for our car to be “ready” and they still have it to us dirty. The car was really old.

I liked that I was able to get the vehicle fairly quick. I didn’t like the first vehicle I was offered had a huge dent across the side of the vehicle. It was smashed in, in my opinion, shouldn’t be able to be rented.

Car was incredibly basic without even Bluetooth connectivity. However, the price I paid was very low too and the car, although basic, was of a very good standard. Helpful staff and quick service. Car spotlessly clean.

Terrible customer service. Tried to insist on adding unnecessary insurance at pick-up. Falsely claimed damage to tire at drop-off. First and last time using this company.

Fraud Alert! Renters, Beware! This place is a SCAM. Do not fall for renting here just because they offered you the best rate online. Upon check-in, they will be fine and rent you the car. However, when dropping off the car, they will deliberately find the smallest nick and charge you $250+ to repair it. They claim that they have to replace the entire body part; however we know this is not true because they rented us an old car with dents, scratches and nails in tire. They also wanted to charge us for a nail in the tire claiming that it wasn’t there when we got the car - however who is checking the tires in that detail when you rent the car? If you have driven on the island, the whole island has pot holes and you are bound to get something in the tire. They make stuff up to scam you and tell you to get your money back through your insurance. You can tell they do this to every other customer knowing people have flights to catch and are bound to them giving them a ride to the airport. I would spend the extra $50 or $100 and rent with another company. The owner and staff here are cheap and looking to make a quick buck. Disgusting. Also they rented us a car with a dead battery and we were stuck on the road for two hours during our vacation. If you want an old crappy car and even worse customer service, this is the perfect place for you. For everyone else, rent from another company. Europcar Curacao sucks.

Pros:

It will cost you no less than $300 for a rental. I bought a flight once I arrived and they presented me with a rental agreement which was over 3x the cost of the rental agreement for which I had paid for.

Car was very comfortable, clean , more than enough power, pick up was sooo easy, drop off a little disappointing as there were no persons on the counter and we really wanted to know about the deposit return. In the end we had to drop the key and run for our boarding, but was sorted very easy next day by phone call.

As a 1st time user with Ace left me disappointed 😞 from time of making the booking through to picking up vehicle which had the window screen replaced the day of pickup with tape on the window to be told "keep it there for an hour then you can pull it off" most disconcerting to having to drive away and lucky no rain to have to use the windscreen wipers!!! Also asked for some compensation but didn't get any

I booked through Rentalcars.com for pickup at Bargain Car Rental in Hobart and drop off in Devonport. When I arrived at the Bargain Car Rental counter I was told the company no longer operates in Devonport, and so they would not rent me a car and I would have to contact RentalCars.com for a refund. The issue was, this was only a few days before Christmas and other companies were out of cars. I finally secured a little economy car for four times the price of the SUV I had booked through RentalCars.com. Bargain Car Rental refused to assist and I’m still pursuing reimbursement for the additional cost from RentalCars.com. Grrrr.
