Pros:Prompt, courteous, responsive staff. Wide range of different restaurants that were all excellent. Spacious room, excellent room service, very good housekeeping. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Pros:This resort has a wonderful beach, sandy and clean of debris. The grounds are well manicured and clean. We stayed for a week while the resort was at 80% capacity; however, our group didn't struggle to find benches on the beach. We enjoyed the party pool and the relaxing pool. Most of the staff was polite and provided good service.
Cons:The resort is not ideal for groups over 8, unfortunately we had a group of 9 people. More than once a concierge said we could be seated as group but the restaurant staff refused or objected, eventually allowing us to be seated together. It should be mentioned at one point we were told we would have to purchase 3 bottles of wine to be seated together after the concierge had confirmed a party of 9 would not be problematic. Housekeeping was poor, we had a dead centipede in our restroom all week, I was curious how long it would take to sweep the floors. There are only two buffet restaurants opened for lunch and breakfast. LGBT, GAY FRIENDLY, SAME-SEX COUPLES ISSUES Our group of 9 consisted of my relatives and their spouses, my single brother, and my parent and I - we are a gay couple. There were a few same-sex couples at the resort. Our check out notice was addressed to Mr. & Mrs. [LASTNAME]. The hotel has both of our information, they knew we didn't share a last name and should have been able to determine we are both males. However, it was a former letter - at best the drafter was lazy and sloppy, at worst homophic. We did hold hands in public and did not get any grief from other guests. However, a limited number of staff members did treat us differently after learning of our presences (e.g. ignoring us or actively avoiding interactions). Our last evening we had a reservation at the Hibachi grill, please note this is the only restaurant that will take reservations. In short, during the course of the meal our waiter engaged my partner and I in small talk with questions regarding our relations (i.e. Are you cousins or brothers?). This conversation took place in spanish, we were the only two of our party that spoke and understand the language. We clarified the nature of our relationship, boyfriends. He stated in spanish: "Really? Are you serious? Why?" We responded: "We are in love." He then stated: "Really? Why?" The tone of the conversation was dismissive and condescending. Fortunately for him and the restaurant manager this occurred at the end of the meal and we did not want to ruin our group's experience, which had been positive until that point although they were not aware of the specifics of the conversation. It has been a few days since that dinner and upon reflection it greatly diminishes my experience at Valentin Imperial Maya and we have decided we will not be returning. If you are considering this resort and are or have LGBT individuals traveling with you or a group of over 8, keep searching. I am writing a letter to the Director General, I will update if or when I receive a response.

Pros:Nice and very clean with a lot of choices to eat at very nice restaurants and concierge was very helpful with anything we needed.
Cons:Check in took almost a hour finally had to speak up to get waited on. A couple behind us was checked in before us because he was getting impatient. Then when we did get to check in the room we booked a Golden Junior Suite was unavailable they offered a upgrade for only one night and asked us move rooms the second day to which I told them was unacceptable and asked for the manager and miraculously a Golden Junior Suite was available. Felt like it was a sales pitch trying to get us to just pay for a upgrade all week. Also not a lot of entertainment at night, shows end around 8 to 9 but bars stay open til 2am.

Pros:Great food, we couldn't believe thas we are eating in hotel and not a resteront. We realy enjoyed the pools, we have a pool next to our suite that was quite but the main pool are great too. The staff are very nice.

Pros:What a perfect place for a romantic vacation! The suites are wonderful, the pools are beautiful, the grounds are spectacular, and the beach is clean and beautiful. The beach it's located on is gorgeous- calm and warm ocean water with marine life swimming along side you. The atmosphere is very romantic, and it was perfect for our honeymoon.
