No information. No apologies.Cons: We arrived on dec 25 as per our reservation. The location was closed. We lapped around a few times to ensure it wasnt temporary. When i saw someone inside i gestured and they responded they were closed.
I returned early the next day dec 26 to be informed that my reservation had been cancelled because i did not arrive exactly at noon on the 25. No information had been provided to me prior to my arrival other then the confirmation from kayak. The signage outside said 24 hr phone number which was also disconnected or unresponsive...whichever is irrelevant now.
The attendant on the 26th mAde no attempt to make me whole in any way. Not even a suggestion in how to find an alternate arrangement. I was left missing critical time slots and prior arrangements at my own expense. I had to resort to a local shop at high risk because of this outfit’s incompetence.
If there was a rating worst than “poor” i’d give it for a complete lack of communication.
Good and honest rentalPros: Honest people, no tricks. Cons: A bit expensive, pick up was after hour and I had to wait 30 minutes in the cold
Overall fine but dropoff was painfulPros: The guy who helped us at pickup. He spoke good English and allayed our fears about driving to Torres del Paine park, including using an ordinary car not a 4x4, and running out of gas since the park has no gas. The car performed well on mediocre roads with lots of potholes. We only went to park twice as the drive is grueling and sime potholes are big enough to disable a car.Cons: At dropoff, the guy spoke no English but we were shocked to find that they had jacked the price over what we had agreed with Avis because our dropoff day was a holiday. We ran into the same peoblem when we arrived in Temuco to pick up a car and nobody was there. Some guys eventually arrived and told us it was a bank holiday. They fobviously have a ton of holidays in Chile since we hit two of them and only rented twice. Anyway, we negotiated the penalty down but were very unhappy that we had to pay extra at all, since it was not part of our original booking and were not told about it at pickup.
Pick-up complicated, failure of the car the secondPros: Reactivity when we had the failure on the second day. Even if we were remote, the agency sent a car within 4 hoursCons: Due to a problem with our previous travel by bus, we had to delay the pick-up outside the opening hours of the office. After negotiation by phone, it was agreed that they would bring us the car at the hotel in the evening, but when we arrived the communication was far different,. Eventually we managed to pick up the car the following day, but I spent the night with big doubts....
The car was strange at the beginning, and I concluded that they had sub-inflated the tyres because we had to travel on tracks inside the Torres del paine park.
But the second day, we had the rear axle BROKEN !!
The cleanliness of the replacement car was not very good
Cons: Pick up was a bit slow & complicated in Punta Arenas. Drop off was difficult. I arranged for a drop off in Puerto Natales. When I arrived at the office, the office was closed for the week for the holiday. There was no message of what to do with the return. I called the airport in Punta Arenas, they gave me the cell number for the manager of the Puerto Natales. Once I reached him, the return was easy, but I was unsure of how to return the car
