How about driving Victoria’s Great Alpine Road, Australia’s highest accessible sealed road, the Pacific Coast from Sydney to Brisbane, or the boldest of them all – the Big Lap – a 16,000km circumnavigation of the country.
Every road in Germany is a portal into another world. From a trip along Bavaria’s mountain roads where fairytale castles nestle into valleys, to a wine-tasting tour of the Rhineland region, you’ll find something unique at every turn.

By Australian standards, the UK is pretty teeny. But with a population density of 281 people per square kilometre compared to Australia’s 3, there’s a whole lot to see. Depending on your timeframe, pick a region or two and hit the road! The country has an incredible network of aires de service (service areas) that provide free or low-cost car camping and basic facilities, leaving you with more money to spend on cheese and baguettes.
Between 2006 and 2020, road deaths in Sweden have more than halved thanks to the ‘Vision Zero’ strategy, making it one of the safest places to drive. Take a trip through the rolling countryside and visit idyllic lakes, villages of red cottages, dense forests and romantic cities for a true Scandi experience. Allemansrätten (‘everyman’s right’) gives you the right to camp on most land (be sure to familiarise yourself with the rules), so pick the perfect spot and pitch up!
There’s no denying it… The US of A is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world to plan a road trip. Whether you’ve got multiple weeks to spend driving the classic Route 66, or just a few days to explore California’s Pacific Coast Highway, you’re in for a treat. So get that country playlist together, crank the volume and open those windows wide.
