FAQs - booking Germany flights

  • Which airport should I fly to if I'm going to Stuttgart?

  • How can I get to the city centre from Munich Airport (MUC)?

Several transportation options are available to get from Munich Airport to the city centre. The S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 connect the airport to the Munich city centre at roughly 10-minute intervals. The journey takes approximately 40-45 minutes and is very reasonably priced. Pet transportation requirements vary depending on the airline you choose. Pegasus Airlines, for example, allows pets on board its flights to Germany under certain conditions. The weight limit varies depending on the destination and aircraft type if the pet is carried in the cargo hold.

  • Are there direct flights to Germany?

Most flights to Germany from major airports in Australia will require a changeover. While there are some direct flights available, these flights will cost you significantly more. However, direct flights will shorten the duration of your flight time substantially.

  • Where should I fly to in Berlin?

Even though there are two international airports in Berlin, the Berlin-Tegel Airport mostly caters to international flights while the secondary airport in the city is mostly suited for charter flights. The Berlin-Tegel Airport is located a short 7 km from the Berlin Wall and you will find all the necessary amenities nearby.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Germany

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Germany flight deals.
  • Several airlines have Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) as their hub, including easyJet, Eurowings and Ryanair. These airlines offer a wide range of domestic and international flights, making it easier for travellers to connect to other cities.
  • Travellers can take flights to Germany from Sydney Airport (SYD), Brisbane Airport (BNE) or Melbourne Airport (MEL) depending on preference or accessibility.
  • If you intend on visiting more than one city in Germany, it would be best to fly to the International Frankfurt Airport and use the airport as a base. You will be able to travel to and from the airport conveniently as there are numerous amenities nearby such as accommodation, restaurants, and gym facilities. Landing in Frankfurt will make most of the region accessible for travellers via additional flights or, alternatively, lengthy road trips.
  • Germany consists of numerous major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and many more. Therefore, you will generally need more flights to travel around the region to visit major points of interest. The main airport in Germany is the International Frankfurt Airport (FRA) as this airport is well-connected to most attractions and cities in the region. However, the International Munich Airport (MUC) is also popular.
  • When travelling to Germany to explore the city of Berlin, there are two main airports to consider. The Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) is situated in the northwest of Berlin, while the Berlin Schoenefeld Airport (SXF) is situated in the southeast of the major city. The Berlin Schoenefeld Airport is most suitable for charter and domestic flights within the region.
  • When landing at Berlin Schoenefeld Airport, you will be able to enjoy some local food and beers at the Almhütte located just outside of Terminal A. If you're flying out of the Berlin-Tegel Airport, be aware that the Tax-Free refund office is open in Terminal A from 5:00 to 22:30.
  • If your trip to Germany is less than three months, you will not need to apply for a visa in order to gain entry into the country. However, you will need to ensure you have a passport that is valid for 6 months from your departure date. In the event that your stay will exceed 90 days, you will need to apply for a visa from the local authorities.

Good flight. Fiod was ready a bit late hence a hurry to finish before landing. Excellent crew and service

Good flight. The food was served a bit late, hence a hurry to finish before landing. Excellent crew and service

All in all the flight was good. Love the fact that for airline food it was piping hot

I commend the flight attendants on our SFO-SIN flight who went above and beyond to provide us with extra snacks and food. This type of service makes the flight experience personal and awesome.

I requested an aisle seat and got a middle seat The flight gate was changed and the flight was delayed

It was a great flight Food was great Crew was spectacular

They made me check my carry on even though there was room We un boarded in a strange way but overall it was good

In general good, but the machine seems to be long in operation and some functions were restricted as e. g. Adjusting of seats.

Seating cramped; close to toilet, foul smelling and noisy, very unhygienic and disease risk Free and paid Wi-Fi NOT accessible at all - misleading advertising Very expensive sunglasses disappeared from back seat pouch. Coffee disgusting and cold

It seems paying premium economy does not make difference with economy. No priority boarding, not worthy paying extra$$$ for premium economy.

My Experience was ok. But the gentleman next to me vaped the whole flight and the attendants did nothing, whether they were aware, I’m not sure.

Flight from Dubai to Zagreb very bad cabin crew. Bad food

Food is really bad, not to the Emirates standards. Coming out of Houston airport is very confusing,

Checkin and boarding staff at Delhi Airport is not cooperative with passengers Their behavior very humiliating . They don’t allow Lap top bag and Ladies’ purse/vanity bag which most of the airlines allow besides cabin baggage and check in baggages. They try to charge extra payment on the pretext of small variations which normally other Airlines staff don’t do. Airline staff should be courteous & cooperative but check in staff of Emirates Airline at Delhi was not so at all.

Absolutely terrible delays for 3 hours changed seats after we paid an upgrade on both legs. It appears it’s up to us to request a refund after they down graded our seat. Never again !!

Good but needs to improve cleanliness Coffee serve cold Needs to raise standard serving food Otherwise good

I was traveling business purposes and I only had one carry on and a personal computer back pack . My carry on was 8.5 kg little more than allowable. At jfk airport check in they did not let me carry it . I was little disappointed.

The lounge Emirates uses at Jeddah airport is horrible even with the opening of the new section. Food selection is poor and never enough seating . Staff are not friendly. Boarding process at Jeddah always an absolute mess

Had the salad which tasted awfully spat it out but still got food poisoning 1 after running to toilet crew would not let me sit near toilets I was stuck in window seat

I bought Business class ticket but they treated me like economic class. No lounge allowed at check inn I have to take stuff out while other passengers have more than 25 lb in bag. Because I bought tickets from other than airlines . It’s discriminations from airlines to passengers.

Extra seat belt across the chest 10 minutes before taking off and 15 minutes before landing seemed excessively safe.

The transfer from Domestic and International was a bit confusing but I am easily confused. I did not eat any food, but the food on the other leg was decent. It was nice they turned the lights off on the night flight. The plane was in good shape, but was a little cramped in economy and I am small. They gave me a customs form to fill out and nobody looked at it as I went through customs. Not a bad flight.

We are satisfied with the cabin crew serviceand the quality of meals served.

The aircraft was really old, the staff demotivated and the overall United airline service is horrible

Lunch Food was tasteful and had variety. Seat was comfortable. However, when I was reserving my seats during booking, the seat configuration showed was 3-3-3, but when I boarded it was a 2-4-2 configuration? Also during booking, I had also bought travel insurance together with my TG booking. However there was no confirmation of my purchase from Allianz and TG. After several emails with TG contact, sales, reservation and Allianz was i able to confirm my insurance purchase. When the policy was issued, the birth dates of me and my wife were wrongly stated and I had to go through another round of emails with Allianz to get it corrected. Otherwise any claims would be void! It was indeed not a very good booking experience!

Increase the number of available films, including variety. All other aspects were great.

Check in was a disaster. 90 minutes and only 2 economy check in desks open. Had to rush to catch the flight.

I couldnt go on this flight and lost all my money over 1,000 UK Pounds as my visa to Myanmar was not accepted :(

Thai Airways is one of the best airlines in the business. Looking forward to fly again with them.

food poor i said chiken i got pack a pow breakfast lousey .job to explain wot it was ...

Fantastic, the 787-9 is a very beautifully designed plane and it was a pleasure to fly in the Qsuite. The suite did feel slightly smaller than the 777 variant, and the suite door also felt smaller, as I felt more exposed as passengers and crew walked past. Food was too notch, and the service was fantastic. I wish they’d enforce boarding zones more effectively, but otherwise they did really well.

I found it weird that the quality of the flight different from Australia to Doha than the Doha to Berlin leg. The quality of the toiletries pack (was in a box from Australia) and then a proper bag from Doha. The biggest variation was the inflight entertainment, which had a significantly shorter amount of content compared to the Doha flight. My QSuite seat was also broken and did not recline all the way flat. Wasn’t the best and I wouldn’t be happy if I’d paid cash for the flight.

The crew was courteous and efficient. There was no entertainment or liquor service on this short international flight.

Boarding procedures are very tiring. We have to clear security twice for our connecting flights from Doha. Also every time we board flights we have to show boarding passes 5-6 times.

Polite and helpful crew. My son developed fever. Crew members came and gave him medication and also came and enquired about his health several times.

Boarding delayed, no communication. I left the lounge, and heard a final call, boarding started after a 30 minutes.

Okay not so good or great. The flight operated by Indigo is worst from boarding to luggage handling and food. Damaged one luggage and delayed another luggage. Still did not get it, since 2 days.

The flight from Doha to Mumbai with Indigo was worst in my whole life, I had booked tickets with Qatar, but still we had to fly by Indigo , worst flight

They ran out of some of the popular food items. 😞

The plane from Dublin to Doha was quite comfortable. I was in economy and the seats and rows were very tight. The man in front of me reclined his seat and it made my screen incredibly close to my face and I wasn’t able to take my tray down and my knees were pressed against the seat. I had to ask three times for him to pull his seat up but in his defence he hadn’t even reclined it far, the rows were just too close. I had a pain in my side by the end of the flight from the chairs which were quite worn and not very padded or supportive. It was a significantly inferior plane to the plane from Doha to Sydney and vice versa.

Gatwick London-Shanghai -Bangkok.. Would have liked entertainment screens, but I know these planes are not that new. Cheap flights at the time of booking, Emirates wanted double so you get what you paid for. I would fly again with them, but if Emirates was the same price I would go with them.

We were cutting it close on our connecting flight and notified all staff at departing gate and flight attendants. From the start, we were told to check in with the international transfer desk by everyone, except for one lady who wanted to argue the time difference that was already taken into account. We also asked if we could try to exit the plane first (our family of 4 and 8 others on the same connecting flight). They just told us to check in with international transfers. We landed and had very little time to make our next flight. We were not offered any assistance or communication to the receiving gate. We ran all the way to the international transfers gate only to be turned away. I think we could have made it if we were allowed to exit and a call was made to other check in counter. After that we spent 6 grueling hours with our kids trying to rebook a flight. No food of any type of compensation was offered besides a dirty hotel room. The ladies with China Eastern at the Shanghai International counter were rude an unhelpful. We were directed to 3 different counters and waited before they said they forgot about a hotel. It was a long, miserable day. I believe this could have all been avoided.

The landings were smooth . Being unable to check-in online was terribly stressful and the queue at Haneda exemely long. We paid extra for window seats and did not get them.

You’re in the three parts of my life, the China Eastern air crew remembered and wish me happy birthday. I was given pastries on two different occasions and a complementary drink. The stew is wish me happy birthday and gave me a birthday card. Everything was first class. Thank you.

Again, I was presented with birthday pastries two times as a celebrated my birthday on both legs of my trip. I will keep flying to China using China Eastern airlines. As they made this trip a special one thank you.

It was my birthday while I was on the flight on China eastern airlines. They celebrated my day by giving me a personalized birthday card and also a very delicious pastry. I was surprised and thankful by the China Eastern crew! The whole staff was kind and professional? My second flight into China and the most memorable! Thank you-

A lot of value considering the cheap ticket prices. All meals served were Chinese food. Would fly them again considering the ticket was half the price of any others

Pros: "Price"
Cons: "Hotel provided was ok but I expected more . The wait to get to the hotel was way too long and people at airport were not helpful. There was no clear instructions on where to wait, who we were to deal with . The directions were misleading."
Pros: "The flight was smooth. Food was on time . Wine is available for the anxious flyers who can’t sleep."
Cons: "Better softer hand soap , sprays and lotion . Sleep mask"
Cons: "delay of about 1 hour, we almost missed our international flight from beigin"
