Pros: "Virgin Australia’s staff is some of the most friendly and professional staff I’ve flown with. They go above and beyond to be hospitable. Also, this particular flight was an evening flight and they even had complimentary snacks- not just peanuts but actual crackers and cheese. There was a small delay in the beginning due to crew having to come from another late aircraft but they handled it very professionally and despite starting late, still got us to our destination ahead of schedule."

But after we booked we realized a third-party website – Webjet- would be handling our tickets which resulted in many problems. We ended up needing to change our itinerary in a simple way that would’ve been easy to do through the airline but webjet would not accommodate without spending $2500 in ticket fees. To avoid that we had to book additional tickets and take an additional flight that ended up being cheaper but quite the hassle that took way longer"

I am a frequent traveler ( 10 flights in 6 weeks) and have never experienced such charges for baggage. It was not clear at the time of purchase that there were different levels of tickets. The agents at the counter was only interested in maximizing the fees we were charged and not helping us with other options. The plane was late and there was very limited seating in the waiting area, so most people stood for the extra 40 minutes of the delay."

We did not receive a gate number on the departure boards until 5 mins AFTER we were suppose to start boarding according to our boarding pass, so we had to rush through the airport to make the plane on time. Once we reached the gate with only minutes to spare Jetstar brought out a scale and decided it was time to weight the carry on luggage, anything over 7kg then had to be checked, no opportunity to move items into the bags already check that we had already paid for. Any refreshments on the plane had to be purchased seperately, cheap as!! This experience just felt like they were trying to take your money at every turn. Treat the service like a taxi, point A to point B only and KNOW THIER RULES before you show up otherwise the will screw you over."

And being charged $4 for a bottle of water on a 9 hour flight?? I have never flown with an airline with such absurd fees and never will again."

Being a seasoned traveller, $50.00 per bag for check in bag, amount to 2/3 of your ticket price, is the highest I have ever seen in airlines!!! Truely, they attract you with a lower price than Virgin Atlantic, but they cut your throat with the carry-on and coffee and water! And they cancelled my return flight! And I am forced to take a flight time, that does not suit my itinerary! NEVER fly jetstar again!!! I feel I am taken!"

Nobody from JetStar came out offering blankets or updating on the status of the flight. When the boarding time finally came, it was disorderly and chaotic. The seats were uncomfortable and cramped and the crew were rude."

So in my first destination I had to exit, collect my luggage, check in all over again and go through customs and passport control again. It was a nuisance and security was suspicious that I didn't go straight to transit."

When we got to the airport the gate was not listed and we had to wait in the general area away from the boarding gates. And They did not board by rows or any other method it is come one come all chaos. Then while we were in the baggage police came by to check the weight of our carry-ons. They did not check everyone only some. We were among the unfortunates that got checked. We were slightly over there a maximum and had to check two carry-ons. Another $25 each. everything about the airline seems cheap. The seats do not even have a little pocket in front of you to put things like glasses or books. They must've saved $1.50 on each seat. After all the extra charges it would've been cheaper to book with her quality airline. Unfortunately we have a return flight booked and can't get our money back so I'll have to fly one more time. But never again."

In addition, customer service was very disorganized and inefficient at the airport. We received conflicting instructions from many different people, they did not want to help us. Fortunately, someone finally decided to get it done and helped us buy the luggage tickets. We paid $533 in luggage for two people for an hour flight!!"
