We paid $30 per person per seat so that we could sit together and watch out for each other because some of the grandparents are in their 80's. However, when we checked in, we found out all our seats were re-arranged and in the worst possible way! Our 4 year old child was assigned in middle seat no where near my husband or myself. In addition, the family was divided in half, separated by the service station. I had switched seat so I can sit with my son but my husband had to sit at the other side of the service station to take care of the other half of the family because they do not speak English. I was left to attend to my 4 year old son by myself, which was hard to do. what bothers me the most is that there seem to be no obvious reason for them to re-arranged seats in such a devastating manner - it was not a full flight at all. I saw quite a few empty seats in the back. We spoke to the woman who was the head of the stewardess about the problem upon boarding, she said she would try to see what she could do, but she never got back to us at all. The seats were horrible seats for a few reason. First, there were a lot of traffic and noise from crew and other passengers because they were next to the Service station. Second, we were always the last one to receive food service because of the location. This is a problem when you have 4 year old and 80 years old who were diabetics."

If they cannot maintain a consistent level of standard across all their products let another provider in who can."

The seats are not competitive with other business classes in the sky. I realize that is about to change. I flew Air Canada into Australia, and while my seat was unfortunately broken, the capabilities and overall comfort of their seats is far superior to Qantas. The business class lounge in Sydney had very poor food options in my opinion, and I was quite peckish after having skipped lunch to travel to the airport for a 4pm flight. The food options on the flight were much better, though overall options / taste were just OK."

The entry into the plane smelt unfresh . The TV. Programming was limited and often did not work. Overall it was a flight that lacked international standards. The final flight to cape Town was excellent. I was going to write you a letter. We are capable of much higher standards and I felt ashamed. The international flight to Perth was better but the flight back from Perth was not good. Every flight should be welcoming and helpful. The attitude and involvement of flight crew makes or breaks the journey even if the craft is old and not perfect With regards eva young and trusting that this review canbe of help."

Cons: "Flight cancelled, then booked by Virgin without consultation, onto a flight via Sydney that would take 6 1/2 hrs to get there, had to request another flight but still lost most of the day of my holiday, plus left with many phone calls re change of rental car, arrival , parking bookings, and no compensation and then stress when I got to the airport and was told that despite being "booked " on the much later flight, now I might not actually have a seat. I had to wait while attendant at counter tried to find seats and only watch as they were taken by someone else several times. So unnecessarily stressful and misleading. Lost my original seats, had to sit separate from my companion, and no real concern by Virgin about their impact on customers' plans. Last time I flew, the plane was cancelled, and we had to wait hours for another one in the terminal, so I missed the body corporate meeting that was the ONLY reason I was flying to Brisbane, paying for overnight accommodation and car rental and flight and I MISSED it. Huge cost for NOTHING, as despite driving straight to the meeting, it was just finishing. Whilst at the airport trying to fly home, I heard another Virgin flight cancelled , again due to "unscheduled maintenance". Seems that maintenance and mechanical problems are common and way more common than they should be. So that is a big worry!"

Cons: "I was unable to check in online and arrived in Melbourne 3 hours in advance of my flight. I had to stand in line for over an hour just to check in for my flight. It was a complete mess at the check in desk. There were several issues with other passengers that caused two gate agents to be tied up for upper 30 minutes. Rather than taking them to customer service they continued to block the line. Then with Economy gates being down to only 3 (with my guess at over 100 people waiting to check in) one of the agents used the economy line to service business class pasangers, when there were already 3 agents serving the business class patrons. While I understand business entitles you to special priorities but to have your economy passengers (who are all paying over $1500 a ticket) to have to wait so long for business passages to all walk straight get up can waiting 5 minutes felt very wrong and made many people upset. My family was waiting to see me off and subsequently got charges $30 in parking due to the delay in check in. Also communication at the gate was very poor. Flight was delayed several times due to wind and no announcement came from ground staff, only way I knew was due to an email. I could tell a lot of guests were very distressed. Very disappointed from a company that prides itself on service."

Not only was my last-minute Virgin ticket cheaper than Jetstar, I didn’t have to pay the ridiculous extra baggage fees Jetstar charges, and a meal with alcohol was included in my flight. Virgin all the way!"

Cons: "The flight was delayed which caused us to miss the last shuttle bus for the car hire company - we had to catch a cab instead - luckily the car hire company reimbursed us for the cab fare, even though it wasn't their fault."

Cons: "Don't know what hours they work, but the crew were clearly fatigued and couldn't be bothered. They were still polite but really just could not be a***d! Flight delayed by 20 mins and no explanation until airborne."

Pros: "The food was decent, plane was delayed and we flew business. It would’ve been good if they brought over some more drinks during the delay. Maybe they should’ve started preparing the supper meals on the ground too so they were ready to go when we finally took off just because it was a red eye flight of just 5 hours and it would have made much more sense to allow us more sleep time."
Cons: "The seats in business are totally weird. There is a metal foot rest that’s quite common in premium economy but the stretch seemed very short. I’m a short guy and I found my feet hanging over this bar which was uncomfortable. Also the pitch of the seat and short seat made both my partner and I slide down the seat. Perhaps the seats Jet star selects for its business could have calf rests that are located higher up so our legs are elevated more like in a chaise lounge or hammock for don’t slide down. The absolute worst thing about Jetstar flights are the passengers. The lowest common denominator Australians book budget airlines (especially Jetstar) and they rush the gate, over pack their 7kg of carryon, they are rough and loud and have little control of their children. They don’t know the difference beteeen inside and outside voices and speaking to someone face to face instead of shouting from a distance. Perhaps Jetstar should have a flying etiquette email and in seat card to remind people of how to behave. One braided head wench was berating the poor guy checking tickets at the gate who asked her to finish her water as a condition of EVERY AIRLINE and AIRPORT. He didn’t deserve her uneducated rudeness."

Pros: "THE PRICE OF THE TICKET IS WHY YOU WOULD FLY JETSTAR. OTHERWISE, YOU WOULDN'T FLY JETSTAR."
Cons: "The food menu is very limited to bready, carbohydrates - not a single salad or actual meal is available. Everything is tv dinner style. The entertainment only changes every few months so if you are frequent flyer with JetStar, you'll get bored of the movie and TV selection within three flights. The customer service varies wildly. I had one flight where a steward spilled a cup (literally) of water on me and handed me two napkins, and another flight where they moved me to a more comfortable seat upon request. Also, the JetStar membership is a JOKE! I paid for a year membership with the offer of deals and lower, membership prices. HA! I have yet to see an international offer, and they only reduce prices of say entertainment by $1. Also, they don't have an actual MILES program. If I was flying with ANY other company, I would have received some type of positive upgrade for all my flying with them. I must have flown 100,000 miles with them this year already."

Pros: "The pilot made such a smooth landing, it was one of the best I’ve experienced."
Cons: "Probably just the delay and time management for boarding"

Pros: "The crew were great. Very clear on the p.a. System and good service."
Cons: "The seats were narrow and horribly cramped. No shaping to support your back and the tray table crushed my stomach and I am quite slim. Goodness knows how big people cope. We recently did a round The world trip with 11 flights and none were as bad as this."

Cons: "The rear of the plane was filled with screaming babies, loud uncontrolled children kicking the seats in front of them (mine). Equally loud mothers baby-talked continuously to their offending offspring with no effect. Cabin staff made no attempt to control the noise levels. I recognize some of these small children could have been suffering ear pain from the cabin pressure changes but trained cabin staff could have offered remedies for this. It does not explain the continuous screaming at cruising altitude. I recognize that JETSTAR is an intentionally cheap and nasty airline. I reluctantly took this flight because there was no quality service (like QANTAS) at the time I required. I accept the lack of amenities offered by REAL airlines like complimentary food, drink, entertainment and healthy legroom are the cost of cheap travel but I would have happily paid a higher price for QANTAS had there been a flight. I will not fly JETSTAR again and if no alternative exists with QANTAS, I will choose another airline in spite of my long allegiance to QANTAS CC: QANTAS"

Cons: "Ok so. With ticket purchase you only get a carry on bag in economy. To pay for a checked 15kg bag is $68, but only if you pay ahead of time. If you pay at the counter it will cost you $100. The woman at our gate was completely alone, and clearly frustrated by the situation and kept radio-ing for information about where the rest of her crew was. They are flying 787 Dreamliner now and just squeezing as many people as they can on them. I am a 5’10” female and my knees were hitting the seat in front of me. Want to recline your seat? Go ahead, but the bottom of the seat now slides forward as well to compensate for the lack of space. So if you’re tall like myself, you can’t recline your seat because it forces your knees further into the seat in front of you. Lastly, they have this ‘amazing entertainment service’. It’s $8 to watch a movie or play a game of solitaire. Such a scam. Water is the only drink included and the power outlet in my seat didn’t work. They are exactly what they have always been, but dressed up nicer, cheap and crappy airline looking to make as much money as possible. Won’t be flying with them again. For the money I paid to check a bag plus ticket cost, I could have flown a much nicer airline. will do next time!"

Cons: "Flight was cancelled and next available was nearly 4hrs later and left late! And then they have the gall to tell you to board quickly. Emails all about trying to frighten you into paying for extra luggage and sell you mediocre food and pay for a seat allocation."

Pros: "I wasn’t able to select a seat and was assigned a middle seat, but the service desk agent at ADL moved me to an aisle seat without charge. Food was reasonable value and tasty, if cold (who refrigerates a muffin?!)"
Cons: "Usual Jetstar pain having to call to add extra luggage (qantas booking) and then curiously Jetstar telling me to ring qantas for an updated itinerary"

Cons: "They lost half of our pushchair and it took 5 days of endless phone calls for them to agree to replace it"
