There were a quite a few passengers booked on the connecting flight but Qantas made no attempt to get us on board it and instead re-booked us for the next flight which was scheduled for 2.5 hours later but, in fact, left nearly 3.5 hours later. Breakfast consisted of rubber egg."

While booking the tickets mine and my wife’s full details such as the Name, Nationality and Passport were given. In spite of this nowhere was it mentioned in the Quantas terms and conditions or any prompt/popup given while booking the tickets that Australian transit visa is required for Indians since the flight is via Australian city. I had booked the tickets well in advance and had enough time to get transit visa had there been any information about it mentioned. On 1st December 2016 when we went to the Changi airport we were not allowed to board the plane as we did not have the Australian transit visa. We were told by Quantas personnel at the airport to go to the Australian embassy in Singapore to get the transit visa and that we would get it within a day. Next day we went to the embassy and found that the Australian visa is done by VFS global at a different address. When went there they informed us that Australian visa takes minimum 5 days. I had all my hotel bookings in New Zealand already done hence I had no choice to take a direct Singapore Auckland flight via Singapore Airlines at a very high price on the next day. I also lost one day of my hotel booking in Auckland and had to forfeit the money. I and my wife had to go through the psychological trauma of being refused to board the plane, then the next day running around the Australian embassy / VFS global office for trying to get the Australian transit visa and facing the uncertainty regarding our new Zealand trip which was planned well in advance for our 25th wedding anniversary"

They were also very helpful with seating when it came to putting me and my partner next to each other and in seats with extra legroom (we did pay for it so I guess it was expected)"
Cons: "Customer service over the phone was HORRIBLE! I waited almost 2 hours on the phone and got NOTHING accomplished! Purchased my seats online, then got a notification saying it didn't go through. Called to fix the issue, but the man on the phone put me on hold for almost an hour! Only to accidentally put my partner and I in different rows. When I complained at the lack of professionalism from him over the phone, he offered some sort of compensation. When I agreed, he transferred me to his supervisor who said they do not compensate in any form! So why offer it then?! I then called the reservation department like I was told to, and they said they would look into the issue and call me back. This was about a month or two before my flight, and even though it's been a week after my flight, I have yet to get that call I was promised (nor the compensation). WORST PHONE CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED! As for the flight, my only complaints are the messy boarding process and the uncomfortable seats in economy. Although you can't really expect more from old planes such as these."

Cons: "My husband and I are seniors, luckily we exercise daily, because we were told to take the stairs down to the airplane and had to walk to the plane in the rain and then walk up the stairs to the plane. When we boarded we actually should have gone through the plane as our seats were closer to the front. The stewardess should have used common sense and directed everyone through the plane, there was absolutely no reason to send people through the rain."

I am a frequent traveler ( 10 flights in 6 weeks) and have never experienced such charges for baggage. It was not clear at the time of purchase that there were different levels of tickets. The agents at the counter was only interested in maximizing the fees we were charged and not helping us with other options. The plane was late and there was very limited seating in the waiting area, so most people stood for the extra 40 minutes of the delay."

We had to pay $60 AUS to Check my daughter’s carry on at the gate because her backpack was over 7 kilos, with no option to have it count toward our overall max weight. Also had 4 hour layover but could not do the manual transfer to next leg until 3 hours before flight, putting a dent into our layover plans. I will avoid using this airline due to hassles in the future."

I didn't have a meal because their website was not working for me to pre-order. When I mentioned this to them through chat, they said they have food available for purchase in flight. When I was ready to purchase (the second time they were walking the isles) they said they have no food left and offered me cheese and crackers, to which they then asked me to pay for! So on our 11 hour flight we had 4 crackers and some cheese. Before boarding the plane we were told we were only allowed 1 carry-on and 1 personal item. We left some luggage behind thinking we would not be allowed to take it on our flight. Upon boarding, we saw that the row behind us had large amounts of carry-on forcing our entire row to stow out luggage 4 rows away. I'll never be flying with jet star again."

I can see getting a discount for paying for baggage fees ahead of time, but such a high "excess fee" when they are your first bags seem ridiculous. And being charged $4 for a bottle of water on a 9 hour flight?? I have never flown with an airline with such absurd fees and never will again."

Upon checking in person, they said I was at the wrong gate terminal and in fact I was 4km away from the international terminal where your flight was located (fascinating, why use the INTERNATIONAL terminal?) I was therefore unable to make my flight, according to the assistant, and had to book a new flight. Disappointing."

When we checked in my wife's purse and my laptop in bag were all added as additional weight. So we were forced to pay additional excess weight charges of $50."

Had to throw out clothes and shoes to meet weight requirements as they charge $25 a kilogram for extra weight which was not disclosed when we received our confirmation. We were the only ones hassled over being a few kilos over each. Many people hand large luggage carry ons which wouldn't even fit in the luggage testers yet no one said anything to them. 90 percent of the people were easily over the 7KG weight allowance for carry on luggage and were not hassled at all. It was pure discrimination and perhaps it was because I was italian or my wife had blond hair. Who knows. I have been on hundreds of flights in my life and have never been so humiliated in my life. The blonde luggage counter and boarding ticket taker, was insulting and even insisted on seeing our australian visitors permit which is not required according to Australian customs once you have paid for it and are registered. She even tried to force my wife to check her bag even though it fit in their luggage sizing testers. Another tall lady with glasses at the luggage check in area, was also very insulting and discriminated against us. Horrible experience. Both of those people would be fired if I was running the airline. Its a service business and while I understand rules, you have to have some discretion and if your going to enforce them, they must apply to all passengers, not just 2 people out of 150!"

The desk agent in queenstown told us that we could catch the Sydney flight and due to the mistakes that Jetstar made, we would be able to spend our layover in the Qantas lounge. Once we landed, we tried to go to the Qantas lounge and were denied entry and told that we needed Jetstar to call Qantas and give us access. We then went back to Jetstar and they told us there was nothing we could do. We were stuck in the airport, unable to check our luggage as Jetstar has a 2 hour check in policy, and nowhere to go. Will NEVER fly with them again."

Cons: "App didn't ask for baggage and then got charged 170 dollars to check bags. Worst airline that I have flown."

Pros: "Flight was very easy, on time, no thrills just get on the plane and go. Easier and cheaper than US domestic flights."

Pros: "Inexpensive flight with many departure times"
Cons: "The flight was just under an hour and a half. It felt like the intercom was running constantly. They were selling raffle tickets for a car, they were selling snacks, they were asking for donations to a charity. The constant intercom communications were very frustrating. There is also a hidden $50 fee per checked bag with a limit of 15Kg. After that there is a charge for every kilogram over 15. We ended up paying $220 in baggage fees. It would have been cheaper to buy two more seats and buckle our luggage in."

Pros: "Seats were tolerable and crew were pleasant."
Cons: "Delayed for half an hour. Not an issue for me personally, but I've flown Jetstar six times in the past two months and only one of those weren't delayed. Tiger is better these days."

Pros: "Slightly clean"
Cons: "This is the worst of budget airlines. You check in, instead giving you a head up on all the concern, I have to go back to the customer service 3 times. My recommendation for people in Australia is to fly Virgin Australia, and skip on Jetstar and Qantas."

Cons: "Flight was delayed - Then the Jetstar staff were ;late so a flight that was already late was delayed even further. I know you are a discount airline, but the seats are truly awful. I will never fly with you again and will tell friends and family never to either - The small saving made from flying with you is not worth the constat delays and how uncomfortable the whole journey is"

Cons: "I arrived for my flight from Narita to Melbourne only to find that I had to walk over 1,000 meters to get to the check-in and terminal even though I was told to go to the Terminal 2 / 3 stop in the Narita train. Once I got to the check-in counter, the line was very long and everyone seemed overworked. By the time I go tot he counter it was getting late. I tried to check in but apparently my eVisa had expired. I have been traveling to Australia countless number of times and normally they process a new visa directly at the airport. I was told by the staff that "this was not possible" and waved me away. They said there was no way to check-in. I stood by the side of the counter and quickly found my own on line service to process a visa. I was able to get my Visa in 10 minutes, and applied for it on my iPhone! My Visa came through, but only just after the cut off time for the flight check in. Despite that fact that flight had not departed, and would not for another 30 minutes or so, they simply closed up the booking counter and left me standing there... They wouldn't even give me any information on what to do or whether my flight would be canceled or credited back. This rates as one of my worst travel experiences. I went back to my hotel in Tokyo, and then decided to fly the next morning on Singapore air. I did not book on Kayak the second time. I don't think I would ever fly JetStar again."

Pros: "Safe conduct. No flourishes."
Cons: "Flight was delayed"

Pros: "Nothing because there was no flight because of a delay and no help getting us to our next destination."
Cons: "The staff were only concerned about getting home and no one stayed to help us with our connecting flights. We were completely left on our own. Terrible customer service."

Pros: "I arrived safety, and the crew were nice."
Cons: "There was NO inflight entertainment. The seats are to upright,. The new Terminal 4 is a very long walk. The Lounge facilities are at the other end of the airport in terminal 1."

Pros: "Initially I liked the price and time of the flight, but the amount you have to pay for luggage negated the first thing, so all I was left with was convenient timing. The plane crew was nice, though as there was no beverage or food service unless you paid for it (they will give you tap water for free), there wasn't much for them to do."
Cons: "They weigh your carry-on bag and have a ridiculous 7kg (combined personal and carry-on) limit. Then they blast you with a $25 per kg overage, so if you have the misfortune of being 5kg over (as I was) you get the pleasure of a $125 fee (which I just saw my card was charged $250 - I need to contest that). The seats are so thin you feel the tray of the seat behind you pressing into your back the whole flight, and they recline maybe a whole 2 inches. There is no entertainment, no beverage or snack service and the plane sounds and feels like a cheap car with terribly loud noise and no shocks. As I said in the title, I'd recommend quantas or new Zealand air and spend slightly more (or maybe less after the baggage overage fees) for a better all around experience."

Pros: "You pay for everything extra (like most budget airlines), but the entertainment package well worth it, and Sumo salads/toasties on the menu very tasty. People who complain about luggage restrictions should be aware international travel is much more strict, and will not "look the other way" as American airlines do. Do your research, people!"
Cons: "Not notified about US requirements to fill out back of ticket, so got pulled aside at the gate to do it. Passengers included large group of obnoxious children who ran up and down aisles, chattered loudly, and disturbed other passengers. Adults who were traveling with them did nothing (if you see a group with huge bows in their hair, avoid at all costs), so flight attendants should be better about enforcing rules and keeping order."

Pros: "The plane got me to my destinations"
Cons: "Although I was asked if I wanted to purchase a meal upon booking, it wasn't clear that everything onboard (including water) was for purchase. Beverage service was also confusing because some flight attendants gave glasses of water for free after meal/beverage service while some did not. I'll just bring everything I need to eat or drink if I don't purchase it in advance."

Pros: "The plane is reasonably comfortable The tickets were cheap"
Cons: "Boarded late and the signs lied to the passengers saying the gate is closing Long walk to the boarding gate and no powerpoints in the gate Food is overpriced and mediocre"

Cons: "flight was canceled"

Cons: "I had had to fly international as the flight originated from Japan. I had to clear customs in a special assistance line as the smart Gate didn't understand. So add 30_45 minutes to when you think you will be exciting the airport or transferring. Bring your own water and food. Nothing is complimentary or speedy. Don't bring coffee, hot liquids are not allowed. Also, make sure you booked the option with a checked bag or it's charged as excess and it's an exuberant amount."

Pros: "My son and I had previously taken Jetstar from Bangkok to Melbourne (out of desperation; our Thai visa was expiring), so we already knew about a) no complementary food or beverages (you get one glass of water if you ask, then are pointed to the back of the plane and the tap) b) having to pay to watch movies c) no email confirmation of flight d) uncomfortable seats What we did not know but learned on our next JetStar flight (Melbourne to Honolulu), a week later: -again, no email confirmation, and as we were out of continent, we had no personal cellphone usage so no text to tell us the flight would be leaving 3.5 hours late (other customers were getting conflicting texts) .. -we were charged a criminal $160\each extra for our backpacks at checkout!! They said it was weight, and that our packs were too large for carry-on. (Frankly, upon reading all the other comments here, I am beginning to think this is a scam, and they need to be called on it.) As we paid an extra $320, plus the airline was late, I asked if we might at least get a $10 meal voucher. Answer? No. The airline has to be 4 hours late. -asked for a pillow and blanket for the approximately 10-hr night flight. Answer: "No pillows, and you had to book a blanket in advance." I am outraged."

Cons: "at check in we were told that there is normally a charge per kilo for all checked in baggage but that it would be waved. that was not stated at the time I bought the tickets online, otherwise I may have opted to use another airline. Using Jetstar was supposed to be an economical choice but given the baggage fees it ups the total and takes them out of consideration for me. I will not use them in the future, you inform people in advance, not hide fees until check in. I don't trust them now."
