When opting for car hire in Cosenza, it's generally recommended to opt for a smaller model, unless a larger car is absolutely necessary. A smaller car can make navigating the tight corners and narrow lanes far less daunting. Another consideration is the cost of petrol. If you're planning on doing a significant amount of driving, the fuel efficiency of a smaller car can be a real benefit.

In Italy, the speed limit within city or town boundaries, including Cosenza, is typically 50 km/h (31 mph). On roads outside of urban areas, the speed limit is usually 90 km/h (55 mph). Finally, on Italian motorways, the general speed limit is 130 km/h (80 mph). Keep an eye out for posted signs indicating the speed limit at all times, as they can be significantly lower in residential areas and in certain weather conditions. If you do opt for car hire in Cosenza, remember that speed limits are strictly enforced in Italy, and fines for speeding can be quite high.

Finding a parking spot in Cosenza can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak hours or in the city centre. Public parking is available throughout the city and is often signposted. The colour of the lines indicates the type of parking: blue lines mean the space is paid parking, white lines mean it's free parking, and yellow lines are reserved for disabled drivers or specific services. There are paid car parks on Piazza Giacomo Mancini square and on Via Felice Migliori (about £1.50/€2 per hour), which offer an excellent central location.
