CarPros: I loved the car I had it’s amazingCons: The preauthorisation for a debit card which was $400 and a cc was $100 is a bit harsh.

Great service at Europcar in Adelaide!Pros: From pick up to drop off, the Europcar team was great. After returning the car a few minutes before the office closed, I realized that I left my prescription sunglasses in the car. We were flying back early the next morning, so I could only pick them that day. I ran to Europcar and was able to catch the last employee as he was leaving the garage. He called the other representative to let me into the car. She came back to allow me to collect my sunglasses. Really went above and beyond! Would recommend to anyone.
Great experiencePros: Clean vehicle, fuel efficient, easy to book same day, short walk from terminal to pick up the car. Purchase the middle rate insurance for piece of mind and the price from 4 days was reasonable. Ended up having to add an additional day which was easily done by calling the rental counter at the airport.Cons: The only thing I can complain about is the entrance into the rental car return is VERY poorly marked. This isn't hertz's fault, but rather the airport's fault.
Pros: Very friendly staff.Cons: Will help if a location map is given to customers which may not be familiar with the car rental pick up/ drop off point.

Pros: Lady at the desk was helpful , initially the rates were sky high whe we just walked up but after booking via Kayak we got the same car from the same lady at more than half the price !!Cons: Use Kayak to get good hire car rates and avoid just hiring in person at the airport car hire desk.

Fair servicePros: Staff were friendly and proffessional.Cons: Given my recent full hip replacement, I got a manual but had every expectation that I was getting an automatic. I managed through it, because I had to. Else, if I had time and opportunity to argue and go elseware I would have. I will not get stuck like this ever again. Also, I reported that the small car pulled to the left and the rear disc callipers were scraping loudly.

Beware of hidden chargesPros: Lower priced than the more well known rental companies.Cons: They charged my credit card a mysterious fee with no explanation more than 3 weeks after I had returned the rental, on top of the rental costs already incurred.

Adelaide really has everything on offer, from fantastic beaches to various green spaces and parks dotted in and around the city. The best way to see it all and not miss out on anything during your stay in Adelaide, is to rent a car and explore the city in your own time. You can even go to the outer harbor and enjoy scenic views over Torrens Island and the sea.
Adelaide Airport is located quite centrally and is only a 20-minute drive from Adelaide’s center. Reach your hotel or next destination hassle-free by picking up a hire car directly at one of the on-site hire agencies, including Thrifty, Enterprise, and Europcar. The car hire center is located in the ground floor, next to the Baggage Claim area, and cars should be returned with a full tank to the multi-level parking garage.
Bear in mind that traffic stays on the left side of the road in Australia, like in England. The steering wheel is also on the right side, but thankfully most cars in Australia are automatic, so a stick shift is one thing less to worry about. For drivers not used to driving on the left side, consider getting a GPS system with the car and remember to enter a roundabout clockwise.
In Adelaide, it is not allowed to turn right at an intersection when the lights are red. Speed limits are strictly enforced and must be adhered to at all times. Apart from that, the city is a very relaxed one to drive in, as streets are broad, the infrastructure is good, and everything is marked clearly with signs or markings on the ground.

When driving mainly through the city, opt for a smaller car, also because petrol prices are considerably higher in Australia than in the US, and a compact car will use up less gas.
Remember that all speed limit signage is given in kilometers per hour in Australia, so make sure you know the conversions (but the speedometer is also on km/h, so it should be no problem). Generally, 50 km/h (31 mph) is allowed in built-up areas and 100 km/h (62 mph) is permitted on rural roads and highways.
Petrol is considerably more expensive in Australia than in the US. The average price per liter lies at AUD$1.45, which is about $4.24 USD per gallon. Most petrol stations in Adelaide will require drivers to go into the station to pay at the counter, where both cash and cards are accepted.
There are various park possibilities in Adelaide, though the easiest is still to opt for a hotel with a parking space included. Alternatively, there is metered on-street parking, where some machines only take the exact amount of coins and no cards, so check beforehand. There are also commercial parking lots like UPark or a P+R or the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Park 'n' Ride, from which public transport operates into the city.
