Compact cars are popular for car hire in George Town. They are a great choice for several reasons. If you do find yourself in traffic or you are heading to nearby areas to see the sights, you might find your time in the car can be longer than 30min. Compact cars are known to be slightly smaller and lighter than full-size cars. This makes them a more fuel-efficient option for longer distances or driving in traffic, while maintaining headroom and legroom and providing trunk space equal to that of a bigger car.

The speed limits are in place but are often ignored by locals. Not only is this dangerous but traffic authorities do patrol the roads regularly. Generally, when driving on federal roads, the speed limit is 90 km/h. This is reduced to 80 km/h during festive seasons because the street is full of people celebrating. You'll need to go no faster than 60 km/h in built-up areas, and driving on rural roads means reaching speeds of 100 km/h.

When looking for a place to park your George Town car hire, you might not be familiar with the procedures. The first thing to know is that you can park on the streets, but you need to display a parking coupon on your dashboard; otherwise, you could receive a parking ticket. Generally, you'll find parking attendants on every street; they will issue you a parking slip when you park and bill you when you return to your car for every 30 minutes you have been parked. They will issue you an official receipt of payment. Some roads don't have attendants but do have parking meters.
