Excellent 10.0
Pros: First of all: I recommend this place and its people with a 10 out of 10. Kapievi Ecovillage is an exceptional place. It was one of the best places I ever visited. The location is perfect, near to town but still with plenty of green so the animals, such as monkeys, tucans and squirrels come to visit. Insects though can‘t really enter your room, so you don‘t have to worry about that. The rooms offers you everything you need, the temperature is perfect and you have a fan if you feel it‘s too warm. The biggest luxury: plenty of hot water in the shower! In the back of Kapievi there is a new pool, which is so awesome. Now the other great thing about Kapievi is the people: Anthony and his family and friends working there were caring for me in the most beautiful way, even when I got sick. I felt like a part of the family, what made it hard for me to leave this place. Every morning you get fresh breakfast and you can decide spontaniously every day if you also want to have lunch and/or dinner at Kapievis. It‘s always freshly cooked just for you. I you want to explore the town and eat outside, they have the best recommendations. If you want to do jungle tours, Anthony or Gabriel organise it for you with one of the best organsations that is super reliable and always on time. Also they will always organise you a taxi and make sure you arrive from place A to B. You can also get your laundry done, you really don‘t have to worry about anything! You can even borrow one of Anthonys bicycles and go for a ride to an animal shelter. You are in a jungle town where people care about the environment and you can feel that. You are close to everything you need but still in a lucious place, where you can just enjoy your time, go on adventure and experience peruvian amazon life at its best. All in all, I could not have had a better experience in Puerto Maldonado and I will definitely return whenever I am back in Peru. Thank you Kapievi family! <3
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very nice young owners that help with all of your questions. Rooms are very nice and clean. Breakfast and dinner was tasteful. Bathroom superb.
Cons: The room did not have any air conditioning. Only a big fan. It was enough, because the buildings are made of concreate but it might get hotter in the room during really warm days.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Loved the concept of the hotel, how laid-back the property and staff was and the level of attention and care given to all guests. It is a great option for travelers who are not yet too comfortable with staying at a jungle lodge cut off from the main urban centre, but still want to explore the Amazon at their own pace and with the comfort of a hotel with adequate facilities for the environment.
Cons: I liked everything, however I would recommend having organic or SLS- and paraben- free shampoo and soap instead of the ones currently provided by Kapievi.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: what a gorgeous place! Once we entered, we found ourselves in the middle of a peaceful and well maintained garden. The rooms are premium and look wonderful, just like on the pictures, the bathroom is very modern and the bed is HUGE and comfortable, which was a welcome change from the common smaller beds we’ve experienced so far in Peru. The welcome by Gabriel was very warm and he gave us a lot of details on the place and potential activities. The food (vegetarian; we had breakfast and dinner) was delicious and we even spotted a few monkeys on the trees! On top, there’s a great new addition in the backyard. Don’t miss it, this is a hidden jewel and you won’t want to leave!
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great hosts. Wonderful food (vegetarian). Beautiful grounds with lots of animals.
Cons: We only stayed one night so I am unsure of the activities so research this before you book as it’s a short drive out of town.
Good 6.0
Pros: The host was very nice and the room very trendy, the location is also a big advantage : in the middle of the jungle but not too far from the city.
Cons: The host suggests us not to book anything before arrival but we arrived all was booked and we only had an offer for a excursion for 80$ each - which is extremely expensive. We found 3 times cheaper by going into the city venter and asking to local tours. We also book a taxi via the host for 4a.m. which never come .. as we do not speak spanish, it has been very stressing to find a new one and manage not be late to our excursion. Finally the dinner was not that fresh and extremly expensive compared to what you can get in tje city ( 1 slices of canned ananas as dessert, frozen lasagna as main dish … not very peruvian dish …)
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The staff is so welcoming and helpfull, the place has a chill and special vibe, recommended!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The food was amazing and Anthony was super nice and helpful! The view in the garden was peaceful and the beds comfortable. The room was was spacious and everything that you need was there. Free water was available, which is great!!
Cons: The location is good if you need a place close to the airport, otherwise a bit of the grid. Once we arrived we noticed that the place, like many others, was not perfectly maintained due to the Corona situation. A door to the bathroom would be nice.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Food was great!!! Cabanas are roomy and nice. Staff great! Thalia was great from start to finish. As is Kevin, our favorite waiter. Alma was also very attentive. Leon our tour guide was funny, informative and knowledgeable. Too bad not a lot of animals showed themselves.
Cons: Dinner a little late at 8pm. Maybe move it earlier?
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Inkaterra made our stay so easy. Guides are assigned based on length of stay, and the hotel gives each party a recommended activity plan. We participated in 2-3 activities each day from hikes to a canopy tour an canoeing. We saw much wildlife including exotic birds, giant otters and night monkeys. Luis, our guide, was very personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The food, which is included, was very good.
Cons: Cocktails were a little expensive.

Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Staff - everyone was very friendly
Cons: This resort is overpriced - we spent over $2,000 for 3 nights (for a 3-guest room) and unfortunately have to admit that it wasn’t worth it… The hotel amenities are quite limited and do not offer much - there is barely anything to do between the excursions. The excursions were quite boring and not well planned. The lunch menu was pretty limited, and the description of menu items was often misleading. There was a limited choice of tropical fruit juices and fish dishes - that was surprising given the location of this resort. Rooms need a better protection against insects and provide a better temperature control.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: what an amazing experience !!! we had the best time here snd didn’t want to leave . the excursions were a ton of fun , the cabins and their river views were breathtaking and the food was next level . this place does not disappoint !
Excellent 9.0
Pros: It was authentic. The cabanas offered a welcome retreat after participating in all the ongoing activities
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Probably the best hotel to go to in the amazon if you want to experience nature and luxury at the same time. Amazing focus on wildlife. Amazing food and drinks. I was amazed you can have the perfect gin&tonic in the middle of the jungle The private open air, netted cabanas are quite cosy and the August weather makes for the perfect sleeping temperature. Our guide was David - can't recommend him enough , his passion for nature and preservation of the amazon is just what this planet needs. If you can ask for him to be your guide I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
Cons: Nothing to complain
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Tony and all the staff made me feel comfortable and take care of me during my solo trip. Thank you! 120% recommended.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: I loved the eco-friendly nature of the hotel. The staff always went far to please the guest. The facilities are definitely comfortable considering you are staying in the middle of the jungle. The food is fresh and delicious. Rooms are great and integrate really well with the environment. You will see and hear wildlife from your cabin! I definitely recommend this experience and all the excursions included in the price of the room. The Canopy experience was my favorite and the Tarantula trail at night was a close second.
Cons: Some visitors can be quite annoying by demanding perfection in a place that is not about that. Humidity and allergies can be a problem if you are sensitive to them.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The customer service was exceptional from the moment we arrived to the airport. The staff was friendly, cordial and very helpful. The property exceed our expectations, the restaurant had a great variety of food and our guide for all the tours was beyond amazing. We were fortunate to have a river view cabana and could watch the sunset every night. We are glad we picked this resort for our experience in the Amazon, we’ll definitely come back.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: nice location. good staff. nice excursions
Cons: absence of wifi

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was fantastic, the place is simple but great to unwind (there's no cellphone reception unless you're on the Claro network, and even then it's spotty). Our host Jean Pierre was friendly and taught us about local fauna and flora. He also arranged vegetarian and seafood meals on request, and sorted out our transfers and tours with a smile. Great service!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was fantastic! Property was awesome! It was a world away from the everyday.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place is just beautiful - the quality is much higher than the photos make it look and the location and scenery is stunning. The included meals are fantastic. Really we just loved staying here with our kids.
Cons: Honestly, nothing.
Good 6.7
Pros: If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, sotupa was great. Exactly beside the tambopata river with great views. The house itself is also beautiful with a lot of open space.
Cons: It was overpriced for what was being offered as an all inclusive package. All the food was tasty and large portions but lunch and dinner were very basic. There was no appetiser/starter or side bread, nor any dessert (fruit etc). There was also not much to do after dark.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: This is a rustic authentic property some kms from Puerto Maldonado. It probably has the best location view wise in the area. The owner and staff wwre very friendly and accomodating.
Cons: The road to the property is very rough and transport by 'tuk tuk' a big of a pain. Be prepared but don't let this put you off!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Sotupa was a really great and relaxing place. Jean Pierre, owner of the place, was really friendly and warm and had a lot of knowledge about the jungle that he shared with us. The food was traditional and delicious. You can do a lot of small trips with J.P. as guide or alone and you can do day trips too. Our room and hammock was great with an amazing view over the river. You can even do volunteer work in an animal reserve next door. We visited Satupa in the beginning of January (rainy season), but we only had rain for maximum 10 minutes daily - and almost no mosquitoes. But bring repellent. Highly recommendable - we would love to come back!
Mediocre 3.8
Pros: Nice views. Food was good. Eager manager and willing to help.
Cons: Price not justified, not higher-end. For meals you had to serve yourself, and they lacked variety (same thing on a whole plate). Doors were not working well, faucets loose, loose planks on the walkway... hopefully these will be rectified. The guide/manager is not fully knowledgeable on animals, i.e. he did not know the difference between reptiles and amphibians. Manager did not communicate with staff, and because he leaves after meal time and is often absent, staff does not know what plans were made. Sotupa claims to be in the middle of the jungle. It is not. It is Near a jungle. Its property resembles more of an orchard. Some lodges nearby are actually connected to the jungle though.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wonderful atmosphere and Amazing and knowledgeable staff!

Good 7.0
Pros: This hotel is located between the main square of Puerto Maldonado and the river. The hotel has a pool and a restaurant. Puerto Maldonado is quite vibrant city, different from what we’ve seen in Peru. It’s a mixture of Latin America with Thailand or Laos.
Cons: The room was quite shabby, in need of renovation. The toilet didn’t flush, but was repaired within 20 minutes after we called the reception. The price - quality ratio was not very good: we stayed in fabulous hotels in Peru for the same or lower price.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The two guys behind the front desk were exceptional. They were super friendly and organized two tours for us. One tour was a piranha fishing and bird watching on a gorgeous lake at sunset and the other was a parrot lick early in the morning. Our guides were Boris and Aari and they were exceptional! They have a SLOTH and a baby roaming around the property. It was soooo cool! The lodge was at a great location and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location, bar next to the oooo
Cons: Dirty Pool, weak breakfast
Good 7.0
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was really friendly and helpful. When we had a problem they were happy to help. The lodge also has a beautiful garden and pool area.
Cons: The wifi had a poor connection and the breakfast was basically a bun with scrambled egg on it, so it was a bit basic.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Prompt service. Changed my room without any hassle. Cool A/C. Great shower. The steak at the restaurant was fantastic. The bartender at the pool was awesome
Cons: A lot of stairs
Okay 5.0
Pros: Location, clean, safe
Cons: Wifi - very slow
Excellent 9.6
Pros: You feel there like you are in the jungle. From swimming pool is very nice view to river. Rich breakfast. Comfortable room with balcony. Private parking place. Near to city centre.
Cons: Wifi doesnt work very well.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Exceptional location, I even saw a sloth in the tree right outside my room balcony. Absolutely lovely clean comfortable stay. We had an early departure (3:30 AM) and the staff graciously prepared a generous selection of breakfast in a bag, even catering to my colleague's dietary needs.
Cons: nothing bad to report!

Pros: Breakfast was fantastic It has ac which is super
Cons: We got a room which smelled so much of damp it was uncomfortable Staff at reception did not speak English WiFi is very weak
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Simple and clean.
Cons: Everything was fine.
Good 7.5
Pros: I booked a suite so, I do not know about the other types of rooms. I received a very complete set of personal hygiene items. They put some really nice flowers on my salon table. The bed was comfortable. I had plenty of space.
Cons: Late at night they switch of the lights in the corridors and there is no automatic movement sensor. It was very dark and I got lost. but had to find my way back to the reception and they helped me.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel located on a really dark street that is dirt and the neighborhood is pretty rough. It is gorgeous in a very nice spot. I am not sure why the street is in such bad shape.
Excellent 10.0
The Hotel Cabana Quinta is a clean and moderately priced hotel. It is a cute hotel and reminds me of a little bungalow room. The rooms have air conditioning and private bathrooms. The breakfast had a wide variety with fruits, beverages, and eggs. The hotel has a pool and some activities, like a Foosball table. The shower does not offer hot water and the floor is very slippery. Like other parts of Peru, you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The place is not really near the center, takes about 5-7 min drive with tuk tuk but the hotel is really nice with spacious rooms and nice clean bathroom. The water pressure is great and there is hot water. Daily cleaning of rooms. They provide cheap laundry service. Really nice and polite staff. Breakfast is simple, probably like rest of Peru. Restaurant/pizzeria just across the hotel is amazing and must check place.
Good 7.5
Pros: Breakfast wasn't good. The location is not central.
Cons: The hotel was okay for one night stay. Cheap price.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Liked hotel so much, I returned for a day by the pool after my Amazonia trip. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms comfortable and quiet (poolside not roadside) Good size pool $15 for late check out until 3pm is good value Tasty pizzeria diagonally opposite hotel Not walking distance to centre but good fun travelling there on a moto taxi which costs 3 sol.
Cons: Nothing I didn't like.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Service, clean, safe, near airport, close to eating joints. Good for short stay
Cons: Nothing that i can comment
Excellent 8.3
Pros: the breakfast was very good! We also like the air conditioning. the pool was also quite refreshing. A must in that region when traveling with kids!
Cons: comfort of the room but for the price paid it is an overall deal!
Okay 5.0
Cons: The person working at the front desk was really not friendly.
Good 7.1
Cons: I thought hotel airport transfer was included. But the taxi driver said at the end of the trip it was not. No clear info
Okay 5.8
Pros: Pool area is nice
Cons: It says on the listing this property is “450m from the centre” - I’m not sure what measure is used for the centre but it’s nowhere near anything. We had to take a taxi each day to a nice/more touristy hotel Wasai where we could sit and eat and have drinks and walk around the area. I wouldn’t stay here again as the area has absolutely nothing nearby.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff was outstanding. Breakfast was lovely with the best coffee we've had in Peru. Swimming pool was clean and refreshing. In town in only 10 minutes buy moto car to the airport. Walkable to many restaurants.
Cons: AC was a little weak.

Good 7.0
Pros: the lodge and the location of the cabins. the good attention of Ki and her mom. my little 3 year old son really enjoyed the lodge
Cons: it was a cold season, we wanted more shelter. breakfast should be with regional fruit juices.
Good 7.0
Pros: Great pool and gorgous Thai food. Staff very friendly. Perfact location near the airport before heading off on jungle tour
Good 6.0
Pros: Very close to the airport. Cabins in a big garden, we saw a sloth. Breakfast was great, big pancakes! Swimming pool available and staff speak english.
Cons: Out of town (this is an airport hotel). Seems a bit rundown, they kindly upgraded us but our cabin was very dusty.
Good 6.7
Pros: Monkeys, pool
Cons: Bit run down
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The people were every friendly but the property didn’t look anything like the pictures
Excellent 8.8
Pros: We had an absolutely magical experience at Anaconda Lodge: experiences I very much doubt we would have had at any other lodge; more on that later. But, I'll preface all those positives with an overview of what to expect, as I wasn't entirely sure given there aren't too many recent reviews. Firstly, Anaconda Lodge is very much a back to nature, basic, simple lodge. Don't expect toiletries in the bathrooms or brand new linens. That said, do expect hot showers, WiFi (!) and a pool (very cold, but my son loved it!). The website isn't up to date, but still gives you a good idea of some of the trips and other particulars. When we were there, Kik, daughter of the owners, was running the place on her own with 1 member of staff. Kik cooks whenever you want (from a Thai menu - she and her mum are Thai), organises your trips, makes great pisco sours and generally makes sure everything is ticking over. She is utterly fabulous! Location: despite being incredibly close to what has to be one of the cutest airports I've seen, you are absolutely in the jungle. And this is why our experience was particularly magical. I had vacillated about booking a lodge deeper into the Amazon Basin and whilst there would have been advantages I'm sure (busier clay licks for one), the Anaconda has resident, but still wild, monkeys. One of the red howlers (adorably named Pancake) was a rescue as a baby and she and 2 males are frequently around. Pancake will even sit on you - on her terms of course, but she utterly charmed us and we had plenty of cuddles with her. There are also a couple of sloths and having been on a wildlife trip in the jungle one day and told we were very lucky to see a sloth in the distance, we got back to the lodge to find a sloth chilling out within touching distance! And then there were the squirrel monkeys, spider monkeys, etc. We met travellers who stayed deeper in the jungle and were thoroughly envious of our close encounters!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great breakfast with pancakes! Lovely people and they are very helpful. Swimmingpool is so nice. But the monkeys are what makes this place even more special!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We were very enjoying our stay in the lodge. The staff was helpful , they offer the variety of excursions. We were picked up from the airport and taken on the boat to the lodge . The wifi was very poor but this is what we wanted to disconnect for a while. We spent every morning on the hammock on the terrace , I will really miss this. The food was good.
Good 7.5
Pros: Relaxing spot - we enjoyed the pool while we waited for excursions. Not really the type of place you can go without buying their excursion packages - we opted for the 3d/2n excursion package in the end, which brought our bill to $399 for two people including all meals, the stay at the lodge and the activities. We settled that at the office after our airport pickup (paid by card with a percentage markup for doing so). We especially enjoyed the day trip to Sandoval Lake - they leave really early (4:30 I think) and that allows you to get onto the lake before most and right when the animals are active and the light is at its prettiest. The food was enough, nothing exceptional but we were happy with it. We enjoyed the group we were placed with as well (you basically are assigned a table with others who are on your same activity schedule). The cabins are big, with basic furnishings. Expect bugs and dirt but nothing off-putting. There were chickens who roamed around underneath the cabins as well. The grounds are pleasant - you get a picture of them on the zipline or canopy tour. Electricity only for four hours - charge anything you need then and bring extra batteries. The view from above the dock is pretty and a good spot to watch the sunset.
Cons: Slightly disappointed with the canopy walk - we got up quite early but didn't see any wildlife. It's not really the right spot for big birds and made us regret not having spent an additional night to be able to get out to the salt lick to see them. More our fault planning-wise than a negative for the property. Wasn't a big fan of the night walk (and the creepy-crawlys we could see during it) but it was fun to do as a group.

Good 7.5
Pros: Friendly staff. Room and bathroom were simple but clean. Breakfast was good (lots of fresh avocado!). I’d recommend this place for a short stay in Puerto Maldonado.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: I booked a dorm while they gave me a double room with private bathroom which is a surprise. The staffs are very kind and always smiling.
Cons: There are many ants in the kitchen, but the room was clean
Good 7.9
Pros: The place was homely and the staff was always similing. They also accomodated to keep our luggage for overnight during a visit to the jungles. The breakfast consisted of eggs and bread fruit juice and coffee. There are a number eating places near by including a local market and supermarket all in walking distance.
Good 7.5
Pros: The people are nice and sweet
Okay 5.8
Pros: Bed was comfortable and that's probably the only one thing I have liked.
Cons: -water wasn't warm as it was promised -poor wifi connection -dust and spiders webs on the floor and behind the beds (I dropped something behind the bed, that's why I know) -very loud, I couldn't sleep well even with earplugs -breakfast was poor, instant coffee plus egg and an apple. I didnt get bread at the first time -only one older lady was nice, othet at the check in wasn't that polite -had to wait 10min in the evening, after going to the city, untill somebody opens the gate for me
Good 7.9
Pros: Comfortable bed, good shower. Nice modern hotel. Friendly staff, at least when you could get hold of them.
Cons: Located a little bit of a walk from the centre of town. Had some trouble finding staff to check us out the morning we were leaving. A little on the pricy side for what you get.
Good 6.7
Pros: The room was clean and the staff were nice.
Cons: The Wifi, worst wifi in the world. Inside our room was very bad.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Great place to stay, lovely staff, in a quiet area just a short walk from the action.
Good 7.5
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful.
