Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was perfect. The rooms were spotless, the owner was very friendly and accommodating - he even came to pick us up from the restaurant after dinner to make sure we got back safe! The location is this private lovely little oasis of jungle, super close to Sigiriya Rock. But far enough (5min walk) from the touristy bits. Now let’s get onto the good stuff: breakfast! What a spread! We got treated to the full Sri Lankan breakfast which was grand. Cannot recommend this establishment more, and for the price they are listing it’s an absolute no brainer.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The owner and his wife are very welcoming. The room was extremely clean and looked very nice, best we had in Sri Lanka. Place to sit outside in front of your room. Homestay is located in nature, but only a few minutes walk from the main road. Breakfast was huge and very good. The owner drove us to Pidurangala at 5 am for free. This place is 10/10. Good vibes only.
Cons: Nothing, everything was good :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Had a great stay, friendly owner and excellent breakfast. Very near to Sigiriya rock mountain. Safe place to stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast . Clean value of money
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The owner was a wonderful guy! Always in good mood, he drove us for dinner and for sunrise hike at Pidurangala. The breakfast he and his wife made were delicious! The rooms were nice and clean and you are in the middle of the nature! The homestay is very close to Lion's rock.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast and the staff and the location excellent stay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nothing! Everything perfect!
Cons: Kindness of the owners, always willing to assist and provide beautiful experiences. Perfect location to visit Sigiriya. Awesome breakfast!!!!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing hospitality, genuinely warm and helpful hosts. Super clean rooms, comfortable beds. Elaborate breakfast spread every day! The host was exceptionally helpful with our itinerary and logistics when the entire country is still waking up from the lockdowns. We loved our stay here, would wholeheartedly recommend.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Owner was extremely helpful. Provided their own vehicle to pidurangala rock. They breakfast was delicious Very friendly environment
Excellent 9.6
After a night in Negombo to recover from the journey, we arrived here and loved it from the start. Our room was simple but really comfy and spotlessly clean. Surrounded by jungle, we had a great time exploring the area, watching the monkeys trying to steal leftover breakfast, drinking beer from teapots, eating curry and rice, walking back in the pitch dark. The owner and his wife are lovely and really friendly serving a great breakfast and helping to organise drivers.

We spend one night. I must say that everything was awesome. service was amazing
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The location is perfect.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was just excellent. Especially the staff and the food 10/10
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Definitly one of the best Hotels in Sri Lanka! Amazing Rooms and a gerat view from the infinty Pool. We had the best breakfast there, with a great choice! We definitly recommend this hotel, as everything was just perfect, helpful friendly staff. Also our Driver was treated very friendly, with refreshments at our arrivel. This is what makes Hotels special!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful rooms, absolutely brilliant staff who went out of their way to make you comfortable and just a sensational view.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: WGS’s setting is spectacular, it takes full advantage of the Sigiriya lion Rock vista. The villas or suites have been designed for space, comfort and luxury. The aesthetics are spot on as are the furnishings. The service matches all of these considerations. The surrounding bird life is many and varied and creates a relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: The wifi - different passwords for different spots and considerably sluggish
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Service - staff- aesthetics- location - design - spa - breakfast
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Such a beautiful place to stay if you love nature and the wild lives (you could see peacocks, monkeys, birds...etc.). Love the modern day water harvesting design and the direct view of the Lion Rock. The staff are absolutely amazing and helpful. We will be back!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is certainly one of the best hotels I've stayed in - the service, hospitality and ecological credentials are second to none. We loved the peaceful setting of our room, which really makes you feel close to nature (just in the hotel grounds we saw crocodiles, lorises, monitor lizards and all manner of birds, as well as hearing nearby elephants on an evening). The staff are exceptionally helpful and really can't do enough for you, including our private butler. Then there's the food: Chef Mahesh and his team have created a really wonderful offering, including both traditional Sri Lankan food and a number of very well-executed international dishes. We took part in their Saturday night private cookery course and had such a great time learning how to cook a traditional Sri Lankan meal; one of the highlights of our entire trip.
Cons: My only minor criticism is that the Booking.com listing indicated that the Water Dwelling had a private pool, and we were disappointed to find that this wasn't the case. I'm told by the hotel they they're now corrected this error.
Excellent 10.0
Cons: Food quality is really good but Breakfast service is terribly slow
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A beautiful , natural, very peaceful place. Don't stay here if you like action.
Cons: I think the view of our cottage was set up wrongly, as it seemed in many others too. From the bedroom/livingroom you looked into nextdoors side wall, while a window behind the shower overlooked the green pond/marshland..... wish that had been the view from my bed....
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Luxury and design
Cons: Insects
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is your personalized private jungle experience, at the comfort of lavish accommodation which truly respects nature and the environment. We stayed in a private villas with a private pools - it was an amazing getaway, so quite, so peaceful, and the rooms had so much to offer in terms of comfort and amenities. Breakfast was delivered to my room at my own request and personalized menu. A highlight of your day would be encountering those abundant jungle birds and critters, watching the monkeys jump across tree branches, while enjoying the sizable infinity pool. The staff are incredibly polite and friendly. I wanted to share my special thanks to Mr. Rawan, who made my stay extra special.
Cons: what's not to like?
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The whole atmosphere of tranquility, the surroundings amidst rice paddies and near a small lake. The staff were friendly and discrete, the bungalow authentic, yet very comfortable
Excellent 9.6
We loved the hotel not only because it felt like you were in the middle of the jungle, but you were able to see so many wild animals on the premises. The room was beautiful, with everything that you needed, and very comfortable . The service was impecable . But we enjoyed the most was like a michellin star restaurant and Ravis ( daily server) attention. It was our first time eating sri lanka’s food and Ravi and chef were very sensitive to our requests. Also they have a wine cellar with great selection of wines. Spa was great and not expensive. The only thing we were not content was that when they offered you tours, the man who was organizing the tours told us $108 and we asked twice. Then when we paid the bill at the end they told us $180. They need to have it on writing ... Also we always stay at 5 star hotel where they offer free tour around the premises or walks. We booked the night saffari at the hotel for $35/pp which we thought at first was reasonable price but it entailed walking around the hotel to observe animals which we didn’t see any... if we would have known it was just walking around the premises we would have done it ourselves.. overall our experience was great , we will definitely recommend it and will stay again . We would just book our own tours as the charged you 3 times for the service and are not clear about the cost.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Excellent location, the view from the swimming pool is really splendid. Most of the people just stay one night, but its worth staying two or three nights just to relax a bit. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed for dinner and there also food was nice , wine also ;-) and the service was very nice ! staff is very helpful ! There was a live singer and a magician for the kids, nice ! Go and see a sunrise !
Cons: euh ... nothing ...
Okay 5.0
Pros: Rooms are spacious and clean, the location overlooking the rock of Sigiriya is amazing. The buffet breakfast is very good but a shame it is mainly continental as opposed to traditional Sri Lankan.
Cons: The staff at reception had a very inappropriate and disappointing behaviour when we arrived which is not aligned to what one could expect of such hotel standards. Obviously the current global context is quite particular and the uncertainty around what is happening with Covid19 makes it somewhat scary for certain people however that does not mean foreigners should be mistreated (upon arrival we were barely given a hello, asked to hand sanitize our hands straight away and told our temperature needed to be checked). During our 24 hours stay, the hostility we felt was just not right unfortunately and as result means we will not ever come again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very close to Sigiriya rock and pindurangula. Great meals.
Good 7.0
Pros: Convenience to Sigiriya
Cons: Expensive compared with other hotels in our 6 day road trip Facilities could do with a facelift
Good 7.0
Pros: The hotel staff in general was very nice, the food was nice and friendly too, even if very expensive. The place to see the Lion's rock is great.
Cons: When we arrived, the staff offered us a barbecue for 2500 RS for 2 people. The next day, we were very surprised to discover that the price was eventually about 4000 RS per person, which was way too high compared to what you can get in Sri Lanka outdoors restaurants. Better to eat outside for the same thing and more than half the price. What was also very surprising is that the next day, the barbecue dinner was empty, no one took the diner whereas the day before it was full (about 20 people). Considering this, we found that the hotel management wasn't honest towards the customers.
Excellent 8.0
The location is great, but the hotel and facilities and bedroom amenities are basic, almost European rather than Asian. The food menu is equally banal. But people invariably make a place, and this hotel's great strength is its staff. Broken and leaking shower cord? Replaced in quick time. Room service food needed as late as possible given the kitchen's early daily closing time of 10pm? The restaurant manager delivered with a smile. Plus the poolside bar staff were excellent - it was easy to spend every evening outdoors with GnTs ...
Good 6.0
Pros: Great view of Sigiriya Rock and breakfast spread. Staff was helpful and prompt. Cons: room was much smaller and dirtier than we expected. There were lizard and bugs in the room. towels and toiletries were not available in the bathroom but staff promptly gave it to us after we asked. Room was also noisy at night, we could hear noises which sounded like tree branches dropping on our roof pretty loudly multiple times at night (might be caused by monkeys?)
Good 7.6
For the hefty price, we assumed things like bicycles & tuktuk service would be included. They were not. The facilities are clean and nice, but the breakfast was below par.
Excellent 8.0
Hotel com boas condições, ao estilo de resort. Piscina com vista para a lion rock Bom restaurante, mas um pouco caro para o Sri Lanka (normal num hotel) Quarto espaçoso com bom duche
Excellent 9.6
The staff are very friendly but they tend to stay on top of you and very close. Also I wish the property would claim the only 2 cats I ever saw on the property, get them spade/neutered, feed them and let the guests enjoy them. They are so many suffering animals. Why not embrace it.
Excellent 8.4
It was a oke stay here, the accommodations are nice and clean. The shower was nice but you had to wait for like a minute to get warm water. The pool was great and they have a towel service, what is perfect for backpackers like us. The only thing we didn’t like was that there was no balcony or something. You can not open the windows, otherwise the monkeys and mosquitoes come in. If you want something to drink at the bar, you pay a lot more than you expecting. A beer is normally like 350/400 roepie, here we paid 875! Also the coffee is way to expensive and totally not drinkable. If the coffee was good it will be acceptable.
Excellent 9.6
Staff was very friendly and always happy to help us whenever we want, Bit disappointed about the varieties of food as a Pescatarian person
Excellent 9.6
We had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. Very relaxing, nice view of the rock from the pool and lobby area. Staff was very nice. Food is very good. Traveled with 6 months old baby Waitress Madawi helped us with a baby during our meals. Possibly was a best place from our 3 weeks travel in Sri Lanka.
Excellent 9.2
The hotel is very good for its location and price. The rooms are big and comfy. Unfortunately, the hotel is unable to book a tuk tuk for us to the rock, we had to walk out around 15 min to the roads to search for one early in the morning.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and the location was very relaxing. Foods are delicious and everything was just perfect.
Excellent 9.2
After the strenuous climb on to the hill palace and Buddhist cave temple at Dumbella, we were totally worn out and this hotel was a dream-come-true. The staff was very friendly and helpful, brought stuff to our room as we had trouble walking. Lounging on the swimming pool overlooking the rock was really thrilling. We enjoyed our stay here

hotel is very well located and very calm and quiet place. but it is very close to Sigiriya rock and Museum too. very friendly staff and always with smile and come forward to help customers at any time. rooms are spacious and clean with new bed linens. toilets are well maintained. very good place for relax from busy life. but, foods are not that much tasty and less variations to choose probably due to Covid problem. swimming pool is fantastic as you could see Sigiriya rock at the pool. but it is not much spacious and short length. it is not good for swimming and has lot of triangle shaped edges due to its' shape of a flower. but as overall, it is very well worth for your money. definitely recommend for family with kids.....
Excellent 10.0
Pros: one of the best hotel i have been in Sri lanka
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Was an amazing stay and the staff was very friendly and professionell. We will come back next time.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Lovely setting, lots of nature & great view of the rock from the pool. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was good, we had dinner the first night & breakfast each morning.
Cons: The pool area was a bit tired looking & the pool was full of leaves but can’t be helped with all the trees surrounding the property. They did try & clean these out daily. Still didn’t stop us going in for a dip after our trek up the rock.
Okay 5.8
Pros: room size
Cons: facility
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Food, atmosphere. Staff.
Good 7.5
Pros: The room was well appointed, spacious and comfortable but a little dark. The reception area had a view of Lions Rock. The restaurant was a good size and the food was good. There was ample seating in the reception area. The ayurvedic services were excellent; we enjoyed different massages to the more usual Swedish and aromatherapy style ones. The whole place had a very colonial feel.
Cons: The rooms were a little dark. The place felt a little dated and in need of upgrading. The pool was full of insects so put us off going in. There were no comfy sofas for sitting in the reception/bar area so sitting for a long time was not comfortable. The hand dryer in the toilets had no cover so the air jet was directed straight to the face and not downwards. Soap dispensers were being replaced and only one worked. This was in the reception - all good in the rooms.
Okay 5.3

Excellent 9.0
Pros: The room was very nice - comfortable and big bed, spacious (little table with chairs and desk and ), well-taken-care-of bathroom. Due to COVID, we were the only guests in the hotel. Staff was friendly enough, but seemed a bit awkward at times... Dinner was wonderful: on our first night they had set a romantic table outside next to the pool with candelight and incense against mosquitoes (the 'normal' dining area is a bit less attractive) and we were served a great 3-course meal! We had a packed breakfast the first day (good chicken-curry sandwich); breakfast on-site for our second day was also very good.
Cons: A bit on the pricier end for Sri Lankan standards, however we did book at a time that Level 1 hotels were mandatory and this was practically the only one in the area; and it is also a somewhat more sophisticated hotel with a lot of amenities
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Stayed at the more expensive and fancy looking Kaveri down the road and were very disappointed. Moved to Camellia which really made up for it, had a perfect stay!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful hotel and very nice staff! They helped us with arranging early morning hike to Pidurangula and also most of the trip we had when it came to transport etc. Also the food was amazing👌
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff were great, we made a recommendation that they serve all our food at the same time, for our next meal all the dishes came together. The pool area was great. Rooms were very big and spacious. Food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was delicious.
Cons: Lots of insect bites
Excellent 10.0
The staff at the hotel are very flexible, excellent hospitality. Very recommended!
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Beautiful setting with genuinely warm and considerate staff who went out of their way to make us welcome at Xmas. Lovely pool and surrounds and well situated to visit Sigiriya rock. They organised excellent local and ongoing transport for us. Thanks to Viknesh and all for the lovely stay.
Cons: Watch out for water temp in the bathrooms which can quickly be dangerously hot! Otherwise great shower :)
Good 7.9
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Noisy room
Excellent 8.4
The staff were very cordial and we had a great stay at Camellia. The location was excellent.

Pros: Close the sites, and a great view of Sigiriya rock! Good breakfast and nice staff.
Cons: Shower could have been better.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff and breakfast were adorable. rooms were clean. there are several beaches and restaurants nearby the hotel and with some few minutes walking you can reach to main street. it is 15 mins walk to secret beach
Cons: too much stairs and there is no lift.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: the staff were cheerful, helpful, kind and superb nice. the location was good. the stay was great.
Cons: the lack of lights at night and the great number of dogs at the village, mainly at night.
Good 7.0
Pros: Good location very near to Sigirya Rock and within easy striking distance of Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and Dambulla. Easy walk to local restaurants and shops. Excellent value for money.
Cons: Rooms were good size and OK fittings but bathrooms were not great. Some of them had bad damp problems or unwelcome wildlife - we got to know a few little frogs and cockroaches during our stay! I'm sure this could be easily sorted out with a lick of paint and sorting out drains.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Delicious breakfast different every day
Okay 4.0
Pros: Host were very nice.
Cons: Washroom were dirty, whole night room roof was disturbing due to birds movement. Entrance lane was scary especially at night.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very nice family homestay, good breakfast, friendly owners.
Good 7.5
Pros: Good location. 3 km from Lion’s Rock. Tuk tuk are easily available on the main road. Clean room. Hot water. Food was excellent, although we were told it would take 20 minutes, and it took almost an hour. Nevertheless, it was some or the best food we had. Daughter and mother are very nice and accommodating. We needed to leave at 6:30 am, and the mother packed our breakfast to go.
Cons: The young boy of the family is very invasive and when we asked for them to ask him to let us be, it didn’t happen. Also, the father was very insisting on us purchasing a safari tour and when we decided no to go forward with this project, he became almost hostile. It was an uncomfortable situation to be in, as the family had been welcoming up to that moment.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: You'll be in one house with the family, so you get in touch with local spirit. The family is very friendly, they laugh a lot and their dishes are recommendable. I went early in the morning to the rock and the "Boss" tooke me there, in the darknes, with his tuk tuk. The house is a few meters from bus stop. There are elephants, monkies,..a few steps from the house. You find the quest book on the wall. ;-)
Excellent 8.0
Pros: lovely peaceful location, rice & curry meal in the evening was excellent
Cons: bathroom a bit dark, hot shower was just a trickle
Excellent 9.0
Pros: It's a really nice place, very close to the Sigriya. Breakfast was awesome and ladies running the homestay were super nice. There is a nice garden and the very friendly dogs 🙂
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Good location for hikes
Cons: Bed sheets and towel were dirty. No hot water and big spiders in room. Family wakes up around 5 am but dont have any consideration for sleeping guests. Also the breakfast was dissappointing.

This is the first review I've wrote in a couple years in over 70+ countries. From the beginning, he kept trying to force his taxi services down my throat when I said I was going to likely bus out in two days (bussed out in one because didn't want to stay here longer). Then he said that bus would take me 8 to 10 hours with multiple transfers. Took me 5 hours with one transfer. I'm not that picky and mostly keep to myself, but everything was about offering what he could do for me but not genuine advice which you expect in homestays. Also, I was never offered the FREE BREAKFAST in the morning. Even showed me the menu for the cafe, but didn't offer the supposedly INCLUDED breakfast. I didn't care to ask. Just left. Also, was going to try to charge me more than I had made the booking for when I went to leave until I looked up the correct amount because didn't trust him. Stayed in homestays all over Sri Lanka but way too pushy here and over the top. More stressful than relaxing.
