7.3 Good
Pros:I don't remember a great deal after flying for many long hours. I do know I enjoy the vegetarian breakfasts quite a bit.
Cons:I can't think of anything that was untowards. There was a minor delay in boarding I think but that wasn't a concern to me. I like to think we are each doing our very best. The flight attendants work very long hours with a slew of people. I appreciate your inquiries.
7.6 Good
Pros:Crew was fine as usual. People are always welcoming and accommodating.
Cons:I'm going to sound like the old joke, "The food here isn't what it used to be." "And neither are the portions!" It's a long-haul flight, though, so there ought to be more snacks and variety. I was in the front third of the economy cabin, and by the time they reached me they'd run out of 2 of the 3 choices, and the remaining one, a beef goulash, was probably 2 ounces of meat, plus fake mashed potatoes and frozen vegetables cooked to the usual imperfection. Another container had a side of orzo, probably 1.5 ounces, and there was a snack-sized Snickers. That was it until breakfast about 12 hours later on a flight that took off at 10:40 am local time.
9.3 Wonderful
Pros:Excellent, kind , helpful and friendly crew on my Johannesburg to NYC flight - one of the best I have ever flown with ! Thank you !
6.3 Okay
Cons:Entertainment system had to be re-booted and when they got it working, my system would not work in my seat at all. Made for a very long and miserable flight home.
8.6 Very Good
Pros:Got a free upgrade to business so that was very nice. New interior, good wine, and a smiling crew made it a nice experience
5.6 Fair
Pros:I like that I got an aisle seat this time, even though it was toward the rear of the plane. Because of my right knee, I requested an aisle seat on the flight from NY to Johannesburg, but somehow I didn't get one. I thought the crew was very accommodating and helpful
Cons:The delay because of problems with loading the baggage got us to JFK late. And that was just on the plane after we had to stand in the longest line before boarding. I also couldn't really enjoy the entertainment (e.g. movies or music) because the headset didn't fit well into the arm of the seat. I could only hear voices when I held the headset cord in one position, and it was difficulty keeping it in that position for an entire movie.
9.6 Wonderful
Pros:Crew was very friendly and accommodating.
Cons:I am a foodie, so airline food probably will never meet my demands but I thought the food was very good for the time and place .
6.0 Okay
Cons:The flight was delayed by an hour but the gate security did not allow passengers to leave the gate to go to the bathroom or shop in Duty Free. They also did not explain why. The entertainment system did not work well. It kept cutting off and had to be reset by the flight crew multiple times so it just wasn't worth using.
9.0 Wonderful
Cons:The touch screens for entertainment barely responded
3.3 Poor
Pros:Direct from NYC to SA was convenient. Seats were spaced fine.
Cons:We had a delay of a few hours. Although some time was made up in the air, my connecting flight was going to be very close. I asked the flight attendant to notify SA of the delay for those of us on the connecting flight and she refused. (Overall, with the exception of one woman, I did not see any of the crew even smile across three flights). We were told that there would be a gate agent to help. There was none. It turns out my colleague, who was on the connecting flight, convinced the SA flight to Namibia to wait 30 minutes, which was plenty of time for us to make it. We even saw this on the board. However, with no assistance, we struggled to find the gate. Aggravated, we still arrived at the connecting gate before the flight departed, but no SA agent was willing to help us. They just talked with each other. The flight to Namibia just sat there!! When I returned to the help desk and asked to be switched to an Air Namibia flight in order to get to Windhoek in time to meet my safari, the employee told me that the manager needed to approve the switch, but the location of this person was unknown. The Air Namibia flight was departing in 50 minutes. The Air Namibia crew was SUPERB and helped enormously when I decided to purchase a ticket - at my own expense because the SA manager was still MIA - to fly on to Windhoek. Very, very disappointing. I am a travel planner who sends people all over the world and will not recommend SA unless this is acknowledged. Thank you.

Overview of South African

SAA codeshares with many other airlines, including LAM Mozambique Airlines, EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines, and United Airlines, meaning they often take turns servicing one another’s flights. If you will be flying within South Africa, your flight may also be serviced by Mango Airlines, as this company is owned by SAA and is often used for shorter trips.

This airline is known for having its primary hub in Johannesburg, but it also services flights to over 35 destinations in the world. While many of the company’s destinations are located in African countries, such as Namibia and Zimbabwe, you can also fly to Europe, Asia, and South America, with some country examples being the United Arab Emirates, England, and Thailand.

For those flying with SAA, there are two primary classes to choose from, including Economy and Business. Economy is the most popular option and offers basic amenities and services, including entertainment, a blanket, and a pillow, while Business provides a more luxurious experience that gives travelers access to comfortable chairs, more leg room, and a welcome pack that includes items such as headphones.

Out of the many types of aircrafts that the company uses in its fleet, almost all of them are Airbus. While the Airbus A340-600 is one of the largest choices that is used and can fit over 300 passengers, the Airbus A320-200 is the most commonly employed option by the airline and is best for shorter flights, with its maximum capacity being 138 passengers and crew members.
