Got dropped off there to pick up reserved car, and all we had was a debit card, and they refused to take it. Then we were stuck there. Finally got ahold of friends to come pick us up and went to another lot that did take our debit card ! Oh and let’s not forget on our way to another lot, we picked up phone to call around and see who would take our card and reserved one, but when we got there to pick up that one, found out it was a scam ! So we lost $200 on that deal.

I was price gouged by the counter staff because my reservation had “expired” and they charged me the walk-in rate which included full insurance. Kayak didn’t give me an option to put in a time to pick up the car so it defaulted to noon, and their policy is that reservations “expire” after 3 hours. Their customer service was atrocious and if given the choice I will never rent a cat from them again.

Pros:

I did appreciate the ease of this rental. To be be honest I didn’t get a chance to really evaluate this .

Cons:

There was confusion , possibly my lack of understanding on how these work. My confirmation said date of pickup and 12 pm. Then it said fate of drop off 12pm I incorrectly assumed this was a predesignated time to pick up. I was wrong in that this time was time of closure. Very frustrating. Did say this anywhere time of closure. Maybe this needs to be clearer for those of us who don’t use these sites on a regular basis.

Everything was amazing. I just wish the E. Holt location makes it aware that when you transfer a reservation to the airport location that the price will increase because of airport taxes and fees.

Thought I was getting a Celica, got there and was told I would get a Kia Soul, not a comfortable car, so they upgraded me for more money of course to a Nissan Rogue, nicer car of course but cost more.

The clerk that assisted my brother and I wasn’t very friendly. There was a long line that morning and he appeared disgruntled during our transaction. I selected the manager’s choice when I made the reservation which he mentioned at the counter. I explained I needed a small vehicle if available for local driving. He handed the contract over which specified the estimated charges, including deposit, and the vehicle model and space number. The vehicle was in good condition. There were no other problems until I returned the car where no one was available to check in the vehicle and I was told to just leave the keys and I’d be emailed a receipt. So I left. The problem was when I got the emailed receipt. I was charged a higher amount that the original contracted stated plus an additional hour. I immediately called customer service which is where it got worse. The rep stated I was charged a different rate because I left with a different car. I explained I never had a different car, I selected managers’s choice and I was given a mid-size vehicle, per the clerk. He insisted that was the reason which I politely negated. I specified the rates and total amount on my contract because he still seemed confused. I also asked why I was charged an additional hour if I dropped the car off on time. He proceeded to review everything until he concluded a mistake was made and that I’d be getting a refund for the difference. I asked for email confirmation and he said he couldn’t provide that, that I’d have to review my receipt online in 24-48 hours to see the change. The entire process felt like I was an inconvenience rather than trying to resolve the inconvenience of a mistake made on Thrifty’s behalf. I don’t trust anything was handled properly and that I’ll have to call back to correct it. My brother and I decided never to rent from Thrifty again.

To have the car double check as when we picked up the car, it was low tire pressure and we had to put air in it before we reached home from the rental place.

The vehicle was great.

Cons:

Grace period to make a change cause sometimes we make mistakes at making the reservation and miss to enter the correct time. I tried calling as soon as I got my email confirmation that I made a mistake on the pick up time, I was screwed.

Didnt like having to have a credit check in lieu of credit card use. Check out was fine otherwise and fast. Car was not cleaned at all. Outside very dirty. Inside had toe prints on the passenger side windshield. Found used bottle of water and sausage jerky left from previous car renter inside middle compartment. Drop off was sketchy. Came inside this location and NO ONE was there. Knocked on various doors and could see into back area where time clock and break room resided. Waited 10 mins and was forced to leave keys on counter and take photos with time stamp as proof of prompt return. As I was leaving, Avis rental agent was pulling up in a car.

Cons:

The car they gave us started to sputter with check engine light on within first 10 miles. Had to stop at a gas station and wait nearly an hour for them to bring us a new car. 2nd car worked without issue.

Provide the vehicle I requested. I needed a convertible for my Nieces sweet 16 ordered and paid for when arrived all they had was hard tops and the lady at the front desk wanted me to drive to Santa Ana to pick one up the location of pick up was supposed to be at Ontario airport

Cons:

The car was dirty inside when I picked it up. On the first day of my rental the oil change light came on. It was also advertised as unlimited miles in 3 different places including my confirmation email. However, I was told I only had 150 miles a day when I picked it up. I had to pay for More miles.

Adriene C. at the drop off was very helpful. But by then- it was too late to recover the previous events

1- waiting in a long line for over an hour to pick up a car is insane. The one guy said everyone called off and the could not replace their shifts- really? 2- when you call, you do not get a local person. I had questions about dropping off on a holiday and was told the location was OPEN.

Budget was great. The issue was I used your site to book and although I put in Ontario Airport, that’s not where my car was!! I ended up having to rent another car through them or take a cab from the airport to the location y’all booked my car at. Never again!!! Next time I’ll just book direct.

The ease of pick-up and car return was fine. The young man at the counter when I returned the car was great.

Cons:

The older gentleman the director of Budget, Ontario CA needs customer care classes. He was not friendly, short bordering on rude, he charged me for rental insurance and I am sure he saw that I had taken it from the KAYAK vendor. So I paid both places? They need to refund my money for that charge. The outside part of this Budget does not have a place for renters parking and it is confessing entering the location.

Waited in line for 30 min to find out the car was booked at the wrong location. They had cars at the location I was at but wouldn’t honor the reservation I had since it was through Hotwire.
