9.5 Excellent (974 reviews)
Overview Reviews

The Hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a conference room, a coffee shop, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre/gym. All 135 rooms are equipped with minibar and hairdryer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location food and service
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The setting is fantastic. What better way to while away a chilly afternoon than by using the spa facilities that overlook the fjord and its breath taking view. The spa facilities are wonderful. A big, spacious area with three pools (including an outdoor heated pooled and a therapy pool) and 3 saunas. While we didn't book any of the treatments the treatment rooms looked well appointed and inviting. As with all Norwegian hotels, the staff were friendly and professional. Excellent food. The three course dinner was a treat, plated beautifully and served with style. The buffet breakfast had a generous choice of top quality items.
Cons: A minor point but the hot water on the complementary beverage station was never hot enough and on two occassions luke warm. Had we asked, I have no doubt the staff would have remedied that instantly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent service and friendly staff. Great Spa and Swimming Area. Nice to relax after visiting Bergen and only 30' from Airport.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: World class hotel
Cons: Stay not long enough
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The pool was simply to die for!
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful hotel, breathtaking view. Love the pool/spa facilities, very clean and enjoyable. Breakfast is very good. Staff is friendly. I wish I could stay longer.
Cons: Only problem is the toilet didn’t flush sometimes and the bathroom is small.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location with an amazing view from room and spa. The best spa I have ever seen in a hotel. Staff very friendly. It is not a cheap hotel, but considering the facilities it is worth every cent. I can't wait to return.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. I have to mention that we were quite lucky with the weather conditions. Enjoying the big garden area was a plus.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: instructions on how to adjust heating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maybe, we got lucky but we had a fantastic view of the fjord from our room. Breakfast was very good. The hotel ensures that water and coffee are available after breakfast. The wellness center was also fantastic. The service level was great because employees were very attentive - unusual in Norway. You have to travel about 45 minutes to Bergen and the hotel is a bit more expensive, but it is a slice of heaven for lifelong memories.
Cons: Two nights was too short.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing stay! Fantastic facilities! Staff were so kind and helpful, they took amazing care of us. Perfect stay! Could not recommend this hotel more!
Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz - Bergen - Building

Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, wonderful breakfast served until 11:00....could be early lunch :)
Cons: It was hot so we wanted to sleep with the windows open - there is a historic area/park next door and a busy main street a block down that is quite loud with revelers and car traffic so windows needed to be closed which solved the problem.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location. Good breakfast.
Cons: Rooms small and warm with no air conditioning. Low quality fittings. Dated interior.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect and the breakfast very good (almost like having breakfast in a 5 stars hotel). We also appreciate the fact that though we arrived 5 hours earlier from the check in time, our room was ready and that was really convenient for us. Very comfortable beds and the rooms were very good equipped.
Cons: The space in our room wasn't enough, even if it was very good equipped and nothing was missing, we wished to have some more space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super location, just 1. Minute from Bryggen Wharf area. Super friendly helpful staff. Inclusion of Breakfast And delicious light, healthy evening meal was a great added bonus. Really comfy bed. Coffee and fresh fruit available in the very pleasant lounge - a really nice touch to come back to after exploring the delights of Bergen. This is not the Hilton but such great value - if you are wanting ultra modern and evening menu options, then this is not for you. It would be one of the best places we have stayed in over many years of travelling.
Cons: ???........
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location only a few minutes walk to everywhere. Friendly & efficient check-in. The best gluten free breakfast options I have ever seen. The supper that was included was great. Loved my stay here .
Cons: My single room was the smallest room I've ever been in. Hardly even room for my suitcase. More than one night would have been unbearable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet superb
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and supper meals, included.
Cons: Our room was very small, hardly enough room to walk around the bed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service by entire staff. Breakfast was amazing. Hugh selection of choices. Night meal was adequate. Beds were very comfortable. Security was excellent. Location was perfect for historic waterfront. Very quiet.
Cons: It turned very hot the days we were there so we had to have windows open. They did have big windows to open and gave us fans. The rooms were not air conditioned. Apparently most hotels in this area of Norway do not have air.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast provided by the hotel was excellent in terms of quality and variety. The "light" evening meal included was a nice compliment after feasting during lunch at the Fish Market. The location was very close to center of the city and harbor area, with everything in walking distance, including the bus to and from the airport. Also, the hotel was one street away from the main street which limited the evening noise. Our highest praise goes to the staff and their excellent service, particularly the manager, Martin. Martin handled all of our requests for directions and recommendations for dining and services with the highest level of courtesy, professionalism and friendliness. Martin added to our enjoyment of the hotel and our visit to Bergen. I recommend this hotel as a high-value option for a stay in Bergen.
Cons: The "King" room during our first stay had appropriate size, however the "Queen" room on our second stay was too small and cramped for two people.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great, lobby and breakfast area was nice as the breakfast was good.

Pros: Beautiful building, with interesting, Vikingy artifacts on the walls. Very comfortable bed, small fridge in the room. Free, delicious brownies all day. Genuine world class breakfast of herring, trout, homemade crispbread, Norwegian brown cheese, homemade granola. Steens Hotel - Bergen - Building
7
8.9 Excellent (710 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Steens Hotel places you in the heart of Bergen, within a 15-minute walk of Grieg Hall and Hurtigruten Terminal. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, with coffee dark enough to match the rich brown woodwork of the dining area. This place is a gem. Historic, well maintained, clean. Circular stairs (you get to walk them) and lovely rooms; ours on the top floor had a stained glass-like ceiling, lovely. Parkland across the street.
Cons: Excellent. Parking was a hassle as the city recently imposed new parking restrictions; we had to park in a city lot about 5 blocks away, after dropping our luggage. Parking is free after 5 pm Sat ands all day Sun.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast spread & room amazing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice place with extremly friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Fridge in the room was broken.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Face to face book in ..staff were very helpful with everything I asked .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First of all the whole design of the building is wonderful. The view from the rooms is also beautiful and the hotel is situated in a calm and peaceful district.(and you are also like 10 minutes walk from the city center, so it's definitely a plus). We also found loving and cozy the huge breakfast room, which has a romantic feeling, and you can serve not only a delicious breakfast, but also coffee or tee with biscuits all day long. For beer lovers, we can recommend a few sorts from the bar, it is worth the price. All in all, we were totally satisfied and hopefully looking forward to go back soon. :)
Cons: it was everything ok
7.5 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel, the dining room, which was very nice.
Cons: The bathroom which was too small with a hardly fitting shower-corner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. It was such a change to find a traditional hotel with individual furniture rather than a room which looks like it has come straight from an IKEA showroom. You'll have to see the breakfast room to see what I mean. Just stunning. This also provided free tea and coffee throughout the day. A nice touch. We possibly had the best room in the hotel with a balcony over looking a park in a quiet residential district but easily within walking distance of the city centre.
Cons: Could not fault it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unique and old fashion. But not out of date.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a very charming historical building and a great view of a park. I really loved the neighborhood it was in. Tea and coffee was available 24 hours a day and served in a lovely dining area and sitting room. It is a nice stroll to downtown area and sites. Near the university. I didn't have much luggage, so I didn't mind the walk from the train station. It was easy to find. I also was glad that it was a very short walk to the airport bus. The bed was comfortable, the wifi signal was good, the tv had plenty of channels. Liked that it had a small refrigerator. It had no air conditioning but I did like being able to crack a window. I had a very nice view of the park from my window. The staff all were very nice and helpful--the woman pointed out several places on the map to help me get to airport whether I used bus or light rail.
Cons: While I was glad to be able to crack a window to cool the room off while I was there, I was a little concerned about security, so I wasn't comfortable leaving it open while i was gone or sleeping since I was on the bottom floor. I also wished for more light blocking in the curtains--my room had a street light right outside of it that I could see right through the curtains. I also had to be very careful of privacy since my room was very close to the street. The breakfast was adequate but could have used more variety. The room was small, but good enough for just me, but the bathroom was the tiniest I have ever seen and it was unfortunately impossible to take a shower without soaking everything. It could just be the room size I chose, to be fair to the property. I would definitely stay here again, but next time I will be sure to try for a bigger room.

Pros: The hotel was really nice - better than we were expecting. Location was pretty good in relation to the harbour - near shops and restaurants. Breakfast was really good. Facilities in the room were great.
Cons: I don't think there was anything!
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is fantastic - short walk from the light rail station and to the harbour
Cons: Check in at 3pm (or later if room isn’t ready) really isn’t convenient especially if you are on an overnight stay. I also found the hotel generally quite dark which is probably part of the overall design but made it hard to see!
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Zander K Hotel in Bergen (Bergen City Centre), you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Leprosy Museum and Bergen Art Museum. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was good
Cons: It is a big hotel with very much people especially by the breakfast The room is small Too expensive
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very close to train station and light rail station. The breakfast was good.
Cons: Very basic room. The room felt cramped despite sparse furnishings. No coffee maker in the room, but there was free coffee close to the reception area. The room was very hot despite keeping the windows open - hotter inside than even outside due to poor air circulation. The second night we asked the staff for fans and we were provided, which helped some. My understanding is that the hot weather we encountered was unusual for Bergen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was small but very efficient with plenty of room for baggage. The bathroom was well designed. The shower did not overflow, the sink was large and deep enough to wash out a few things and the floor was heated so everything dried quickly. It is 100 meters from the train station and a short walk into the center of town, The breakfast was delicious and plentiful with good variety. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: There are some glitches because it is new (or newly refurbished). The elevators run a little slowly and the door locks have to be checked because they don’t always lock when you leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was fine. Breakfast included, staff accomodated my requests to have a jug in my room.
Cons: The e-keycards for room access expired daily, which made it awkward when coming in after a long day, only to have to go all the way down in the elevator to get the cards reactivated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Modern, clean with a great breakfast with lots of gluten free, lactose free and vegan options for breakfast. Free tea and coffee throughout the day at reception.
Cons: No real negatives, our room had a bad view and it is quite expensive to stay here but I think that’s normal for Norway (sadly!)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, in a quiet street directly opposite the train station and the tram stop from the airport
Cons: Not air conditioned, which for most of the time in Bergen is not a problem, we just happened to be there on a couple of days over 30 degrees

Pros: Best hotel gym I've ever seen, they have a squat rack!

Pros: Amazing breakfast
Cons: Nothing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast Friendly staff Grand piano in the lobby Comfy bed Excellent shampoo and shower gel
Cons: First this depends on each person,, I didn’t like the fact that windows can’t be opened as there was no AC or fans during summer and it wasn’t hot but I prefer if I can have at least a fan in the room to get a fresh breeze or if I could open the window and let some air go inside! Second , the bathroom wall was kind of semi-transparent glass in some part and that wasn’t comfortable as I’m traveling with family and need to have some privacy in there! These are the only negative points I can see but overall it was Good for my trip!

Pros: Everything was great with the exception of the standard room, which we had reserved. It faced the courtyard, which would have been fine but for the fact that there were large garbage dumpsters out there and scaffolding - quiet unsightly. We upgraded our room at an additional cost and were moved to the street side, which was great.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was very helpful and friendly in all areas - the access to the hotel from old town was good and walk withon 20 minutes
Cons: The room faced an office block so had to keep the curtains closed all the time - I do not recommend this hotel for leisure!! The office block is so close to the hotel that anyone can see into the room !!! NO PRIVACY

Pros: The breakfast buffet was great. The shower water pressure was great. The bed was very comfortable! The tv was a great size. Most of the staff was friendly.
Cons: There should have been separate lights for the WC and sink area. Slanted ceiling made the room feel smaller. There was no room service to order food or order movies.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Friendly staff. Enjoyed the afternoon waffles and light dinner - we weren't able to have breakfast due to an early flight.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super helpful staff, great location, lovely decor
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Location was great! Breakfast was basic but good. They have an observation deck that you can go up to work a key card from reception. You have a great view of the city and water from the roof.
Cons: The "on site parking" was across the street, up against another building. While the car ended up being fine, it was a bit sketchy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location close to the Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf area. Extremely friendly welcome at check in. The room was fine for a single traveller like myself; I did find the mattress and pillows too soft for my liking but slept well enough. Definitely take advantage of the view from the tower; it was a lovely addition to the stay. The evening buffet was delicious and had more choice than I was expecting. Breakfast had a large selection of the usual hotel buffet fare; I did like their smoothies; the fruit selection and variety of breads on offer.
Cons: Unfortunately the waffle making machine was broken so the afternoon tea offerings did not meet my expectations (I had really wanted the waffles!!), There was some apple cake and hot drinks available but I was disappointed not to try the waffles.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and services; breakfast, afternoon snack and light dinner included, Great value.

4.3 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was really good! The hotels location is excellent, couldn't be better!
Cons: The rooms were as warm as the temprature outside and the rooms held the outside temperature throughout the night. Very poor airconditioning. We got very little sleep the first two nights and moved to a new romm with airconditioner the 3rd night which was much better. The bathroom floor heater was on full when we arrived, this was most probably due to all the floor drains not functioning. The bath could not be drained, the shower did not drain and the wash basin also had problems draining. We reported this to the administration and that we considered sleeping on the floor due to the heat in the bedroom. The answer we received was that yes, this could be a solution in summer some times.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good central location to all tourist sites and the centre of town. Great breakfast buffet. (don't get there to late though) Lovely sitting areas. Great bar on site.
Cons: The room was very clean and tidy. Due to the age of the construction of the building, the room we had, was half taken up with the sloping ceiling, 4th floor. Not sure how other rooms are.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. I had a filet mignon in the restaurant and it was cooked perfectly. Some of the staff was nice. Some a bit lazy.
Cons: It’s a little shabby and dreary. The carpeting should be replaced. I was expecting a traditional old style Norwegian experience but it looked a bit depressing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Disappointed for the cost. Room very dark and there was a noisy fan outside my bedroom window. Should have complained and ask to move rooms
Cons: Dreary and too dark (well the room I got) Breakfast was good
5.8 Okay
Cons: The room was tiny and dark. The table- lamp did not work. I payed more than for a 5 star hotel om the Oslo city center
7.5 Good
Pros: People at the desk were super helpful all the time. Room was extremely cosy and comfortable.
Cons: It had transparent windows wherein our room could be seen by people from a nearby restaurant. We could cover them with blinds but then the light in the room wasn't enough. There was a heatwave and the hotel doesn't have cooling but they gave us a room with a AC so we were extremely comfortable. But there are only 4 such rooms. Breakfast options for vegetarians are very limited. No Double Bed was a bummer again. Also the bathroom had a very beautiful bathtub. But not sure how many travellers actually use it. I found it to be a waste of space. And one more thing this is not about the hotel but about the city. Bergen Card is a total scam thingy if you are there for only 2-3 days. Avoid it. Beautiful city. Enjoy it on foot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is as central as it gets, and the building itself is steeped in history. The old wooden beams and constructions are a testament to its heritage with the Hanseatic League. The room itself was surprisingly modern, and the bathroom's tub was very luxurious. I appreciated that the scrambled eggs at breakfast were made from *real* fresh eggs (so many hotels opt for reconstituted eggs these days, which to me are soupy and inedible).
6.8 Good
Pros: The rustic style and design was very beautiful. The location is superb and very practical in the heart of the city.
Cons: We were given a room that did not correspond to the pictures displayed on booking for that particular category, we complained and they kindly gave us an upgrade. That was nice of them but still, imagine if they're hadn't been any alternatives, it's very wrong to give ppl false information pertaining to the rooms they want to book. The upgraded room was alright except for it being next door to the kitchen which meant we had unwanted smells during most of our stay.
7.5 Good
Pros: Interior, staff and location
Cons: TV chanels very limited Pillows are bad

Pros: The room was very clean and the amenities are great, conveniently located walking distance from the airport and very helpful staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is ideal if you have an early flight in the morning, it's less than 5 minutes on foot to the departure hall of the airport. Breakfast was an excellent buffet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were there for a short night to catch our flight at 6 in the morning. The bed was so comfortable I found myself wanting to bury myself in more and more into the night. Also really like all the details of thoughtful lay out of things like USB charger by the bed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel. Had a nice exercise room. Breakfast was good and opened early, which is perfect when you are on an early flight. Only a few minutes walk to the airport. Dinner was good, but very expensive.
Cons: The air in the room was poor. We stayed five people in a family room, which sets requirements for the ventilation system. There is a control panel where you can set target temperature, but apparently it does nothing. Opening a windows is not an option because of the noise from the airport.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the airport, 4 min walk. Ample breakfast starts at 5am but they offer an early breakfast starting at 4:30am.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location to the airport, friendly staff, and very good restaurant.
Cons: One of the beds had bedbugs so bad my friend had to sleep in my bed. Upon checkout, the girl was shocked and said she would tell management.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, helpful staff, very clean. The staff were very kind and attentive. I had few asks before we checked-in and everything was attended with a smile. One of the best choices of breakfast that we ever had. It was pleasing to see all support staff smiling always!
Cons: None. It was an amazing stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, spacious room, good breakfast, very close to the airport
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location of the hotel, it was just outside the airport. Less than 5 min walk. We had an early flight to catch therefore stayed in this hotel. Excellent breakfast and many options to choose. Breakfast starts early. It was nicely decorated and one of the best breakfast dining I ever had. Room was ok just for one night.
Cons: For one night price was too high when the rooms are not that big or with so many facilities for that price.

Cons: Made reservation through third party. Upon arrival the front desk agent told me the reservation was not showing so he made me a new reservation. Not only did he charge me more for the new reservation but I was also charged by the third party. Dispute has received no response yet.

Pros: Perfectly situated. If you stay here you must pay the small amount extra for a harbour view. Stepping out onto the small balcony with direct views of the magnificent Bryggen is magical. You could look at that view all day. It’s a short walk to all the main attractions and to cruise terminals. Good breakfast.
Cons: Small rooms to fit 2 suitcases but who cares with that view.
8.0 Excellent

A total of 342 newly renovated, thoughtfully equipped rooms and suites offer free high speed, wireless Internet access and large flat screen televisions. 6.8 Good
Pros: Very good located in the centre of Bergen. Good breakfast. Parking garage right under the hotel, although the access from the garage to the hotel was rather badly planned.
Cons: The minibar in the room was not equipped. The vending machine in the lobby can be used instead which is alright for me. But when leaving the minibar in the room I would at least expect it to be working in order to be able to cool my own stuff. Instead it was disabled and dirty. Cleanliness was not good at all. We found hairs in the bathroom as well as crumbs and dust on the desk. For me, the hotel is rather 3 than 4 star. Next time I would stay somewhere else for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location Location Location The airport bus stop is right outside the door. Very convenient Nice breakfast spread
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice property with comfortable rooms and public spaces. Helpful staff. Bergen is a charming city worth a visit and this property will serve you will if you decide to visit. Don't miss the funicular and the view of the harbor from there...stellar!
Cons: Parking was a pay when you park and signs were not clear. The hotel staff should have notified us of this when directing us there. This was the only negative aspect of our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: My first rm did not have AC so I went down to reception and the host went out of her way to accommodate me and helped me change rooms.
Cons: Parking in the hotel underground garage and getting back up to the hotel was a bit precarious. They have trucks loading and unloading blocking the entry doors back to the hotel so you need to wiggle your way there and then a flight of stairs up to reception with your luggage. Or you can walk up the car ramp avoiding in coming cars. Once construction mess cleaned up should be better and advise to drop off luggage at side entry before parking car.
6.3 Good
Pros: big disaponded from big crouwdiy hotel not clean noisy food just ok no atmosfear the room not spiseal we will not recoomend this hotel
Cons: everiy thing
4.3 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was ok
Cons: This is the hotel where the cruise people have their first night, so it was packed with horrible tourists. There was only one person at the front desk every time we checked in and out, around 12pm, and each time 5 guests waiting. The corridors of the hotels are dirty, old style. There is no view from both rooms we had. Some of the people at the front desk barely speak English. This hotel is such a scam and a shame.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had to stay overnight in Bergen due to flight snafus, and found this place on booking.com at a quite reasonable rate. I was pleased with everything--the location, a half block from the fish market, the hip-ish decor, clean state of things, a hot breakfast cooked up fresh in the morning, nice and helpful folks at the front desk. thumbs up all the way around.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location near the fish market. Friendly staff at reception. Good WiFi signal. Decent shower.
Cons: Room quite small. It was very hot in Bergen during our stay and the only rooms that had windows capable of being opened overlooked a lane full of noisy bars and restaurants. The hotel does not have air conditioning and the windows don’t appear to be sound proofed.

Pros: Great location Very nice staff
Cons: The hotel might need some renovation. The room (and also the common area) is ok , but the equipment is getting pretty old. The mattress is too soft for my taste (but I slept very well, nevertheless, I must confess). Some more seating capacity in the breakfast hall would be good.

Pros: Its not right in the thick of town but not too far to walk. Often this is better. A very big breakfast spread.
Cons: There was a little bit of trouble getting a table for breakfast but it was a busy time as the tallship race was to arrive in at Bergen the next day.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good choice for breakfast, cold and hot buffet Handy location for for boat trips, tourist office and historic part of city without being in busy area. Friendly staff
