Overview of BlueBird Airways
Since beginning operations in 2008, Blue bird airways has developed a strong international network from its base in Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete. It is one of only a short list of airlines with a base on the island. The carrier mainly caters to vacation travelers and schedules many routes on a seasonal basis. Destinations are spread across the Mediterranean region and include smaller Greek islands and Israel.
Flights are available to countries in mainland Europe, such as Italy, Romania, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Bulgaria. Services are scheduled to gateway destinations in these nations, which provide passengers with a broad range of connecting routes. Some flights to Europe also bypass Greece and enter directly from Tel Aviv, making it a secondary hub for Blue bird airways. A defined vision of the company is to deliver premium European aviation standards and first-class hospitality.
All passengers are seated in one cabin class: Economy. This means that there is no preferential treatment and a happy communal cabin. Operating costs are kept low by offering snacks and drinks as optional extras. One piece of carry-on luggage is permitted that weighs a maximum of 5 kg (approximately 11 lb). Checked baggage and oversized equipment can be purchased at extra costs.
Blue bird airways uses an all-Boeing group of aircraft. The 737 series is favored, with both the 300 and 800 models flown. The fleet is capable of carrying between 148 and 189 passengers for short-to-medium distance routes. A simple white color scheme is painted on the aircraft, plus the company’s stylized heart and flying bird on the tail.
