Can't say enough negative things. I called Hertz to move the reservation date, and they didn't properly enter the information. The location I went to for pickup didn't have my car, despite my reservation. I had to uber 30 miles in the opposite direction, I was going to get a vehicle that was of worse quality (no USB imput or AC) than what I had paid for. I understand everybody is struggling with inventory, but I wont' be using Hertz again if I can help it.

The only problems encountered were: The windshield wipers were terrible The drop off in Marquette, MI was confusing at best. There was no agent present when I returned the car. If the AVIS rep hadn't helped me figure out what to do, I'd have been really lost. But the pick up and reservation process was easy and other than the wipers, the Jeep Compass was great.

I had an issue at the front gate at the time of pick up. Somehow my name was registered incorrectly and it took them a good 20 minutes to clarify the ordeal. Once it was cleared up, smooth sailing.

They didn’t actually have a car reserved for me. After making my reservation, I called the day of to confirm. They told me there were not any cars in the area. Their website allows people to overbook. They were not going to reach out and inform me of this either. Their plan was to have me show up and learn the hard way that they didn’t have any cars available for my reservation.

Long wait upon arrival. Car I rented was not available. Tried to offer a smaller car but in the end they ended up giving me a comparable one. Drop off after was easy and the shuttle driver James Smith was super prompt, respectful and helpful (even though he was unfairly harassed by a family of 3 when there were not enough seats for them on the current shuttle).

Persons at the pickup counter were having side conversations and not very pleasant. There were three ladies at the counter. The person servicing me was aloof, distant, and seemed annoyed with the entire process. My card didn't work at the counter so I had to use a different card. I had been having earlier issues with it as well. I apologized and thanked her for being patient, no response but a head nod. Then she started talking about being hungry and then chatter about where to eat with a gentleman and one of the other ladies at the counter. My payment went thru for the deposit on my debit for the $500. The rental was prepaid already. I have had major issues with Hertz over the years. The customer service is usually sub-par and getting some one on the line is usually a 30 min or more wait. I always have issues with getting my deposit returned to me too. I think this is my last time with Hertz. I took a few years to rent again and now I remember why. Still waiting for my deposit or at the very least some information on where it is since my bank said it's a Hertz issue.

Hertz makes things difficult when you rent thru Kayak- had to change my drop off location (30 miles away so not a big deal) and it took me forever to change it as they said I had a fixed contract. Ugh. Better to rent direct.

Charged an extra $250 premium for picking up at airport even though they did not reveal that when I made reservation. Hertz informed me I was supposed to pick up car downtown. But that location was closed on day I arrived so they never should have confirmed the price of the 7 day rental online. But they did.

We got a great deal on the rental at an enterprise on “airport road”. Unfortunately, that was NOT the enterprise actually AT the airport. So my wife, my fifteen-month-old, our copious luggage and our carseat were all stranded, the place we had our reservation at had just closed, and we were told we’d have to take an Uber to our hotel, then another Uber the next day to pick up the car from the proper location. Embarrassed, we accepted the expensive mistake, and started looking into getting an Uber that could fit all our bags (probably a minivan? Probably a hundred-dollar ride?) But just as we were reeling from TGAT sticker shock, lo! The enterprise representative had returned with a solution just for us! They had a minivan there we could rent. We were so relieved at avoiding the expensive Uber, we didn’t think to ask the cost of the minivan, and it wasn’t mentioned. As it turns out, that was an EXPENSIVE mistake on my part. After signing the paperwork, our budget reservation (at $70/day) had suddenly turned into a $200/day disaster. I should have said something, but I was too stunned and embarrassed and it was too late—I’d already signed. But MAN! Talk about a bait-and-switch! I know… it’s my fault for mixing where I had to be to pick up the car, and it’s my fault for signing without asking the price first, but that doesn’t stop the whole thing from feeling predatory and kinda gross, not to mention personally pretty traumatizing. Now, to be fair, everything ELSE about the car rental experience was excellent and I have zero complaints. Return was a breeze, the car itself was fantastic, everyone was kind and the lady at the return even offered to drop the car off at the terminal, if that would make things easier with our child, but we declined, partially out of worry that it might include an extra charge of some kind. Nevertheless, the glossed-over, hand-waved cost-tripling was just too traumatic, budget-wise. I’ll be avoiding Enterprise, Alamo, and National in the future.

The process for both pick-up and drop-off were super quick and easy, despite obvious limitations with covid.They left me in the dark about my refund for my deposit for using a debit card at pick-up. Still unsure if and when I’ll be receiving it back.

Our flight wasn't until 7:30 p.m. and the car had to be returned at 11 a.m... We called Andrew at the Hartford location and for 4.$ extra we were able to keep the car until 4. They also allowed us to drop the car at a location closer to the airport. The experiecne made our trip that much more enjoyable. Thank you Enterprise. Your new loyal customers,

Be sure you get the right shop for airport pickupJake from the Airport Rd. office called to make sure I wanted his (Brainard Airport) office in Hartford, and not them more likely Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks, serving the Hartford area. Thay was going above and beyond and saved me a LOT of trouble. The Bradley shop honored the rate (with higher taxes) and were friendly and professional. I have been scammed by the Alamo/National tactics and highly recommend Enterprise over those two chains.Only that the website didn't make the location abundantly clear. The system should know that "Hartford" might mean Bradley and alert the buyer. That may be Kayak's problem, not sure.

Decent car and decent drop off experience.Upon pickup in Hartford, the employee was very unwilling to review scratches and damage prior to the trip and there was a lot. Employees were using vulgar raciest language with each other directly in the presence of several customers. Generally, terrible pickup location in an unsafe neighborhood.

Did not pick up car I specifcally explained a Bradley air port area pick up and when I got to Bradley to pick up the car I was told the pick up was in Hartford the rental at the airport cost me $450 dollars more. Very unhappy

Good car, clean, well maintained. Friendly, efficient staff.Not enough staff at the Liebert Road site. When I picked the car up there was a thunderstorm coming up, and one poor fellow had to deal with a line of people impatient to get going, another line of people wanting to return, as well as the necessary inspections of outgoing and incoming vehicles. He should never have had to do this alone. That said, he did a great job considering the circumstances.

Horrible customer serviceThe advertised priceI was renting through my company and needed the underage fee to be waived. I called customer service before I arrived at the Budget office to apply my company code, they couldn't assist me and referred me to the nearest office. The rep at the office said an underage charge wouldn't be added, went ahead and swiped my card then realized I was being charged double the price. So I decided not to proceed with the rental, but was still charged an absurd qmount of money.

The car itself was fine, and the attendants at the rental facility were very nice. Talking to representatives on Budget's national call center line to try to make modifications to the rental was a nightmare though.The rental facility was in the middle of nowhere. The facility had a toilet and sink but no toilet paper or hand paper towels. Talk about budget.

I couldn't reach support. No live people. They messed up my booking and when I went to cancel it online they tried to charge me 400. So I had to call my credit card company to dispute. They someone called me from the company to confirm I was taking the car two days prior to the booking and was a complete dock saying it was my fault. Do not do business with this company

Nothing at all after checking my reservation it stated that sixt will be closing at 3pm and we gave them a call to let them know that our flight will be getting in at 2:15 pm and once we got there we was told that someone else took the car that we reserved for weeks ago. This facility rather more money over customer service I will not be booking with this company ever again even if it's my last resort. I will take a lyfe or Uber first before stepping into this establishment again

For some reason I was not in the AVIS system. What I found on Kayak and THOUGHT i booked for approx $700 ended up a standard rental that I had to book at the last moment at the counter for $1297. I have no idea why this Kayak reservation did not go through. I suspect I never received any confirmation other than a mobile text when I booked it. I see the airline ticket and hotel were done around 6/7. Any way I can be credited some of this EXPENSIVE rental?

Very friendly and helpful! My problem is with Priceline. They scheduled this at a downtown location, which after I got off the airplane had no way to get to before closing. System shouldn’t have allowed. I selected BDL airport and couldn’t have known what street the car rental places are. Avis worked with me but airport fees made the care over $100 more. I won’t be ordering from Priceline again. I will order from Avis directly. They are great.See above.

The convenience and service I received at the time of pick-up and drop-off. Easy and seamless.I have never rented from Avis before but I have rented a car with other companies prior to this experience. I expected the Avis employee to walk with me to the vehicle and inspect the vehicle prior to me leaving with the vehicle. That did not happen. I was handed the keys and told I was all set. I walked to the car and noticed that it was dirty inside, leftover papers in the trunk and wrappers in the back door. About half way through my 750 mile commute I received a maintenance required notification on the dashboard for the rear seatbelts. I didn’t use the rear seat belts at all during my trip. The notification continued to prompt every time I would start the car. Just didn’t make me feel safe that all services/recalls weren’t serviced prior to letting a customer take the vehicle as a rental, especially with my lengthy trip.

A tale of two locationsSo I mistakenly thought I booked the car for the Avis location close to the airport. Took the Avis shuttle from airport to their facility, and when the agreement screen popped up, the price showed as being close to $600!! I showed the clerk my reservation, with the price I agreed to as being $136, and the clerk said “Oh, I see the problem. Your booking is with the downtown Avis location, not the airport location.” So I used a rideshare app to go the 20 minutes to the proper facility, and got the price I was promised. But - are you freaking KIDDING ME? It costs 4 times as much for the same car, with the same company, if you rent it from the airport location instead? price gouging, anyone??? On the plus side, once I was at the proper location, the transaction was very smooth and the clerk very helpful
