Isabella at Alamo/Indianapolis, was very kind, I was able to pick out the truck I wanted. A Ram 1500 4 door with 43,000 miles, very nice. I had problems with my flights getting to my final destination and the Alamo personnel was more than helpful in accommondating me to make sure I would be able to have a vehicle. I will more than likely return! Thank you.

The pick-up area was severely understaffed, but the guys who were there were extra courteous and worked hard to help me quickly. It seemed the guy at the front desk didn't know what kind of van I would be offered. car was ok. Location service was unusual. First time asked to provide insurance proof(did not have). Settled for name and coverages. Also first time that I had to agree to a $200 advance deposit. Why?Check in was ok, although not very professional. Return was a big disappointment. Placed was closed(Sunday) however nobody told us they would be closed. Took a while to read a sign that said to drop keys on side of building. Walked around until we found drop. Had planned to have staff order us a cab, but no one there. search online for a taxi took four phone calls. Next day (Monday) I get a call from Jackie that they did not find the keys. I told her I had dropped them as instructed and she said they were not in the drop. She said she would look for them. It is now 3pm and I have not heard back.

The staff was friendly. They didn't have what I requested so I got a free upgrade. Return was seamless and quick. The pick-up explanation felt a bit rushed. He was throwing a lot of add-ons and numbers at me and I didn't really get a chance to process everything. The insurance I bought before pick-up was not through Enterprise. Theirs is different. That needs to made more clear.

The check oil light came on in the very expensive premium SUV I rented. I had to exit and stop at a gas station to check the oil. The oil was not even touching the full tube. It took two quarts of oil at $10 to make it right. Not a big deal, but a minor inconvenience. I thought Enterprise would simply reimburse me the $20 and make it right - they didn’t! A very pretty move... We were told by the represent that the only the store manager could make that call and he would call us to discuss. They never did. Terrible customer service a real shame to lose a customer over $20...

The car smelled like smoke and I went back to the counter to exchange it but they had a long line and I couldnt wait. It game me a headache every time I drove it. I know Budget has a fine for smoking should be a deterrent but make sure that the Budget employees who clean and check-in/out the car aren’t making it smell like smoke. A headache is miserable and was not appreciated especially for the steep price. Other than the smell, the car was very clean as fas as vacuuming, etc.

It was not all Thrifty's fault. My Delta flight out of DSM was delayed so I missed my connection in ATL. That didnt get me into Indianapolis until 1:30 am. All car rental personnel had gone home. I immediately called Thrify and they told me I had to contact Price Line and they said they would look into refunding me. I had tried to let them know of the delay earlier in the day on their automative answering system but got no response. I walked out to the car lot and found an Avis employee that helped me out. So if you can help make sure Price Line refunds me, I will continue to use Kayak. Thank You Darrin Lynd

I made a reservation for a car through kayak back in March at this location. When I went to pick it up at my scheduled date and time, they informed me that the over $500 I had already put down was nowhere to be found and that this happens frequently with kayak (who uses CarRentals.com). They just don’t forward your money to the vendor. They made me a reservation for a car, but did not forward my money to Thrifty. Additionally, I waited in line for more than an hour to find this out with no explanation about why the waits were so long. The staff were clearly stressed and overworked and I was not the only person having issues at the counter. Another person and their family stood at the counter for no less than 45 minutes. No one got away from that counter in less than 15 minutes and nobody was telling the Gold members they could leave the line and go get a car. A Gold member stood behind me in line and was not told he had special privileges until he was nearly at the counter, which made me upset for him! The places was incredibly disorganized and the staff was under trained and stressed. They were just trying to get through people and were not kind or good at explaining anyone’s issues. I would literally never rent from this location again even if my rental had gone off without a hitch when I got to the counter. Waiting more than an hour to unsuccessfully pick up my reservation was ridiculous, and the explanation I was given at the time made 0 sense and I had to piece it together with a friend after I was told to get OUT OF THE LINE and figure out my issue on my own. Just absolutely horrible. I might change or update this review if I ever get a refund of the money I paid in March for a car I was unable to pickup from this disorganized, overbooked location.

Our 11:30 flight from SFO to IND with ETA 6:00pm had been cancelled. We then got on plane 5 hours later, which made new ETA 11:30 pm. We booked our Hurtz rental via Priceline. We'd tried to contact Priceline which can't help us, then we tried to get hold with Hurtz, was informed will be charged 5% of total cost ($1450) to speak to a real live person.... when we arrived, there's nobody at Hurtz desk, other rental company tried to help, but I think we'd paid and won't get refund. Ended up spent another $100 ubering to our hotel close to 1am. What a terrible way to start our vacation!!!

Wow. Talk about feeling gouged. My "manager's choice" rental (minivan with 50,000 miles!) for 5 days was $500. Previous renter's contract for week before was in glove box...7 days at $135. On top of that the "sanitizing" Hertz supposedly does between rentals was negligible. While driving away, steering wheel felt gross and a sanitizing wipe was filthy after cleaning the wheel. Coffee was on interior side panel and in speaker grill. REALLY BAD HERTZ.

Avis tried to sell me on almost $1K worth of car insurance despite purchasing with Allianz via Kayak. They said they didn't see I had any coverage - I had an email saying otherwise. Extremely confusing and terrifying not understanding if I was covered or not. There was also only 1 person and a giant line started forming (it was 4pm...seem like a high traffic time so felt odd), so I didn't feel like I could even take a moment to better understand what I was paying for and waiving because I was with the ONLY person available. I was also sent to the wrong space number. And I wasn't told how to open the trunk of the car, which sounds stupid, but this one was hidden under one of the backlights (??? horrible design) so I stood at the car for 20 minutes pushing random areas of the trunk like a moron trying to open it. This is the 2nd terrible experience I've had with both Avis and Kayak. Last time ever - others beware. Check out other rental dealers

Car hire excess insurance in Indianapolis

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) & Theft Protection Waiver

Collision damage waiver and theft protection are insurance options that cover renters from paying high penalty fees if the car is stolen or returned damaged. Some Indianapolis car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the rental price but not all of them. We recommend always be aware of your coverage when renting a car in in Indianapolis.

Deductible

Keep in mind that car hire excess insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your rental. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a no-deductible option to your Indianapolis car rental.

Top tips for hiring a car in Indianapolis

  • Make the most out of your trip to Indiana’s capital and rent a car upon your arrival in Indianapolis.
