We didn't know that the branch did not have the full-sized vehicle we reserved until we arrived to pick it up. (There were full-size vehicles on the lot.) Man said he called us a few days before and no one answered. He did not leave a message and did not try to call back to make sure we knew. He assured us that the airport branch would have plenty of vehicles but he wouldn't call to make sure before we drove another 40 miles to the airport. He said he had no control over the pricing at the airport. We arrived at the airport to be told that the only vehicle they had was a mini-van. After explaining the situation with the first store and telling her that we had to leave the area in the morning, the woman processed the rental and charged us the same rate as the rate on our original reservation. We were gratefully she took care of us.

My friend and I just picked up a vehicle at a Hertz location in Knoxville, TN and had the most unpleasant encounter with one of your employees. The location was 201 N. Seven Oaks Dr. The employee told us his name was James. He was very abrasive and rude to me and my friend when we asked questions about our rental agreement and possible returning the car to a different location. He seemed very unhappy and unwilling to help us and answer our questions like he wanted to be anywhere but his job. When we got to the car and realized the interior was dirty we came back in to let him know. He said he wouldn’t change our vehicle but instead take it to get cleaned. That offer was alright, however doing so would completely alter our plans for the day which we were unable to do. He was incredibly defensive and emotionless. I asked about the stretches on the exterior of the car which weren’t disclosed and he responded condescendingly, “you won’t find a rental car without scratches on it”. I was utterly shocked at his unprofessionalism and the manner in which he spoke to us. It was like he was looking for a fight which I didn’t appreciate. I called the airport asking if we could return the car to them instead because I do NOT want to interact with him again. I spoke with a lovely woman on the phone, Cheryl who was kind and helped me out, allowing us to return the car there on Monday (something James did not want to allow us to do). In all, yes, we got a good deal on our rental with you but our encounter with James makes me question if I want to rent with Hertz again.

It really couldn’t have been worse. I should have read the reviews posted on other sites and not used this service. I arrived to pick up the car and there were so many cars in the parking lot that it was difficult to find a space to get dropped off, however when I went in they told me they had no cars available!! They said they had tried to call me, according to their records just 2 hrs prior. If they did I don’t show any messages or missed calls from them and….. just 2 hrs prior to pick up?!!! Additionally, they didn’t try to find any vehicles at their other nearby sites or offer any help in any way. Imagine showing up to pick up your car only to discover that you don’t have a car! I hopped online and they were still showing cars available to rent! Utterly terrible experience and very poor customer service!!

I do understand I booked thru Kayak, which promoted Priceline advance purchase. The desk agent was rude, I had to continually ask questions about gas location, my car, she didn’t offer an upgrade nor did she even thank me for using Hertz. My vehicle was all the way at the end, it appeared to be someone’s local vehicle, it was filthy inside: seats are all stained, there was no sticker on the vehicle for extra cleaning due to COVID and it was SMOKED in… it took two days for the smell to be air ped out. I worked for Hertz in Tampa for 3 years, I would have been embarrassed to rent this vehicle out to anyone. I also, work for AMEX Global Business Travel, she was not acceptable as a executive travel counselor or even just an AMEX employee. The vehicle had mechanical issues on top of the the other issues.

We drove for over 8 hours in a rv and were on a strict time schedule. Called an hour out to make sure our car rental that was paid in full 2 weeks prior was ready. They did not have it. When I asked why, the clerk responded with "Cause it ain't here. We never had it. Good luck". I was floored. So I had to use a different company and a pay twice as much for a vehicle we did not want for 5 days while on our 1st family vacation. And 6 days later, I still have no refund. HERTZ is terrible.

The car had clearly not been cleaned and the mechanics of the seat were broken so I had to sit crunched up in the car the entire time.
