They didn’t have a car reserved for me on arrival, and tried to charge a walk up rate. In the end, I lost the prepaid portion of my rental, sat in the coffee shop opposite and booked online with Avis (for cheaper than what they wanted to charge me). Really disappointed.

They had way too many hidden charges that more than doubled the cost of rental. First, my car wasn't available, so I had to pay extra to upgrade. The gas tank was at 7/8 when I picked up the car, and when I returned at the same level, they charged 60 euro to refill 1/8 of tank. There's also a 36 euro charge on my credit card that I never got a receipt for. I will not rent from them again

We had to wait almost 2 hours for the car The car was extremely dirty, full of dust and hairs We reserved for €420 we ended paying €650 without insurance, just local taxes..... they told us, we even have the car full of diesel if we didn't would be €159 more We reserved a Mercedes we were given a ford. Not luxury at all.

1. Drop-off location at the parking in from of airport doesn't issue a car, only pickup 2. Terminal location is not listed on google maps 3. 20$ airport fee never mentioned during booking 4. Car wasa booked for 12pm, we arrived at 2:40pm it was not ready, waited 20 minutes and they give different car on manual gear, not automatic as booked (they are not paying attention), eventually exchanged fro automatic. 5. Booked Fiat 500L, but was given Opel Grandland

Check in went well and was easy. The car I was given had a number of dents and scratches. When I spoke to the agent, he assured me that all the damage was noted on the contract that was handed to me. Despite this, I took pictures and a video of the car at pick up. Unfortunately, because of an early flight, we had to use the key drop box and were not able to return the car to a live agent (so that we could confirm there was no new damage). Again, I took pictures and a video of the car just in case. A couple of hours after dropping off the car, I received an e-mail telling me there was new damage for which I would be charged. The picture they sent shows damage that is not there in my pictures or video. We decided to go with Hertz because we thought it was a reputable company. However, we were left disappointed. Now, we have to spend our time and energy disputing these additional charges.

No one answered the phone at Hertz in Catania for two days (these were weekdays). Another set of friends had the same experience. Our third couple waited over 3 hours for their car in Catania. I rented from Avis instead. Never again Hertz.

Could have been a little friendlier and explain more nicely. The charged me twice the rate of the insurance and whatever budget office told me in the us didn’t Applied in the airport. They could have been more Accommodated and helpful

Waited in line about 3 hour, and then, budget manager, simply deceived me, twice, hidding taxes, fees and surchages and misled me on payment saying that this twice big amount is not a rental cost, but only an insurance deposit for the duration of the car rental.

The chaos of Catania airport. There were a gazillion people there. The price was substantially more than I had expected to pay and the car was much larger as well (a real van!) which made driving in some areas a bit stressful.

Cons:

Having rented many cars in the US, this was by far the slowest and overly complicated experience. It took over an hour and a half from arriving at the desk to finally receive car. They would only let the person who's name is on the reservation be the primary driver and pay for the car. Once I explained I made the reservation for my father who was standing with me with a valid driver's license and I would not be driving, they finally added him as a secondary driver for a $250 euro fee (which we got down to $125 and just accepted because we just wanted to get out of there). She kept taking the time to upsell us and not tell us the price impact until asked. Overall, it was just an extremely painful and slow process to just receive a car I had reserved weeks prior. I will not be returning or recommending Budget for future car rental needs in Catania.

Terrible experience, I arrived 30 mins late because of a flight delay. I attempted to contact Europcar several times with no answer. Upon arrival I was told “we gave your car away because we didn’t think you were coming”.

Pros:

We did an upgrade to an Audi A3 cabrio. Excellent car! Giving the car back after was very fast and simple. Quick inspection and handed the key back. took less than 7 minutes!

Cons:

We had to wait 2 hours from when we arrived at the Europecar to finally get the car. The car they first wanted to give us had extremely wet seats like someone left eh roof opened while it rained for a long time. They said it would take 30 mins to change to another car as they needed to wash it, fill it with fuel. We got the car and it was night time so we couldn't really see. But the next morning we realised the car was very dirty, not washed at all. I took some photos and sent them an email. Never got a reply. We also had a problem with the roof and tried to call them once and was on hold for 30 mins and no-one answered.

The staff in the car park where more accommodating and helpful than the staff at front desk.

Cons:

The sales pitch that goes on even after booking for extra insurance meant a simple pick up lasted almost an hour. The impression that I would have to cover the first 800 Euro's, even though I had requested extra insurance, the statement that I would still be charged for paperwork, and that I should invest in extra insurances. They also did not offer any flexibility in the drop off time.

I got the impression that they were looking very hard to find fault with the car on return so that they could charge us. We took photos of every part of the car on collection and I would suggest that you do the same. That aside the car was cheaper than any of the main rental agencies.

We got the insurance that Kayak recommends through Allianze, and the staff were annoyed that we didn’t get insurance when we picked up the car. Upon return, she ‘found’ damage on the hubcap, and charged me 320 euros, saying, just get it paid back through your insurance. The spot she found was so tiny, it is barely visible on a picture. That seems like a money grab to me, Also, they were the rental agent t the furthest away from the airport, and difficult to find.

Upon Arriving at airport we waited almost an hour for shuttle to return. Another couple had been waiting long before us, and they decided to catch a cab. We were about to do the same, but shuttle showed up. Staff was great, helpful and the vehicle was new, so super happy about that. Upon dropping off vehicle, the staff member insisted had had gone way over on the mileage, and how big of a deal it was going to be: Upon the realization he was wrong, by almost 700km, he was apologetic. Was still frustrating. Had a long wait for shuttle back to airport as well. Overall though, good experience.

We booked one day before departure. Prices prior were exorbitant circa £600-1000 which was ridiculous.. We even emailed Leasys direct questioning high rental quotes. Clear profiteering by all companies. All should just have offered competitive prices beforehand. We have used Leasys(Drivallia) previously. Excellent service, collection and return. Will continue to book with them but only if prices are reasonable. We would forgo a car rental if prices are not competitive. Big thank you to Qeebo for the price finally achieved. Can’t fault Leasys service it was excellent. Thank you

The pickup and drop off in the city center was made as easy as possible by being located next to a garage. The gentlemen there were friendly and gave directions. Roberto at the agency was helpful and efficient!

There was an extremely long line and it took us over two hours to pick up the car. Used electric car with a terrible app to find charging stations. Got lucky to turn the car in with miles left.

Drivalia offers cars with letter "e" in description. You don't know-it is full electric. To me it is economy. In Italy the infrastructure for electric cars is poor. Also,Drivalia uses Chinese MG small suv hybrid. This is really weird hybrid you don't want to drive. Eats lot of gas and you have to change this hybrid like full electric car. Milano int. Airport does not have good signs to get to rent garage to drop your car.

Picked up the car and it was filthy. Clearly hadn’t been cleaned since being used before. Key intermittently stopped working and were locked out of the car, when trying to open it manually, car alarm would repeatedly go off. Car was not maintained well.

We liked the good value for money, and the car itself was just what we wanted and had no issues. It was not completely clean though when we received it, nor did it come full of fuel- under half a tank. The pick up and collection from the car park was fine and very quick. It was the wait time at the drivalia desk to sign the contract and pay the deposit which took too long. We joined the queue at 10:30am and we’re not at the front until 12:00pm. We were not in a rush but other customers were as they had plans or connections to make.

Have just flown home. The check out and in process was smooth but they did not look over the car when you take it or on return, they just advise you to take photos. Having just landed, I have received an email with a €750 charge for windscreen damage which was there when I took it (I have photos as advised). They have also charged for 1/2 a tank of fuel when I returned 3/4. It is going to be such a headache sorting it out. Really disappointed. Like a windscreen replacement even costs that much anyway!! Total rip off. AVOID

Random charge was added to my account from Record Go even though I paid for the service and insurance through Kayak. When I dropped off the car, I was told there would be no charge and that the contract was closed out. This is on top of the nearly $1,500 deposit that I had to put down while already having insurance through Kayak/Expedia.

Felt they were trying to push the expensive insurance. Wish the industry charged more and didn't hide other costs. car had damage and felt they would have blamed me if I didn't take photos of the car before I left. Not a nice experience for the customer.

I liked that RecordGo were in the main airport terminal. The car was ready and reasonably new (around 20K km and with Apple CarPlay) and RecordGo said they were only interested in scratches of more than 4cm. No fuss, all worked well and I enjoyed several hundred trouble-free km in the vehicle. Drop-off at the end was equally easy.
