Received a car with issues and broke down on the highway in middle of nowhere in brazil

Pros:

Good service. The staff was very friendly. It was easy the entire processs ( to get and return the car).

Cons:

The car had a child lock and did not open from inside. All the time I had to wait someone open the door from the outside.

I never had a bad experience like this we a car rental. Nothing good to say

Cons:

Our flight was delayed half an hour. When we got to the airport, we were still within the one hour limit before they could cancel ou resevation (this policy was not displayed anywhere on the website or mentioned to us during the booking) but there were no shuttle to pick us up. I called their call center on an international charge and they said they canceled the reservation and could not guarantee the SUV we reserved or the rate. When we got to their location by shuttle, about half an hour later, they didn't have the car we booked though they gave us a bigger car but no air conditioning and the USB ports did not work. Just a nightmare we endure for a few days until we decided to drive all the way back there to switch cars. No discounts for the inconvenience. The people were nice but made us feel like they were doing us a favor to give us a bigger car to fit our bags when we could have fit everything in the SUV

I booked and pay for the car rental+insurance with my credit card, but the driver was my friend, as my Driver licence was expired, when we got there, they were trying to sell another insurance, I got confused and when I check my booking the insurance was included and paid. Even having the car rental fully paid in advance, the attendant asked for my friend’s credit card, and because he wasn’t prepared, and didn’t bring one, he was doing me a favor and he felt embarrassed for not bringing one and also he felt guilty as I had to pay another fee, just because I was serving as a guarantor having to use my card. By the way, the same card I paid for the whole thing in advance. Also, there was no clear information where to get the transfer from the airport to the Car rental agency, and when we delivered, we were told the driver was on his break. Thank God i was earlier and didn’t misses my return flight. The tank wasn’t full, showing only 2 bars and the car wasn’t looking very clear and disinfected when I got it from the agency.

When I arrived to drop off the vehicle at 5:00 AM, everyone in the office was in the back rooms asleep. I had a flight to make. They took nearly 30 minutes to get me on the shuttle. Today, I received a charge on my credit card labeled "MULTAS FOCO ALUGUEL DE" for $29.07. I have not received any emails or information about this charge. I need an explanation for this! Foco seems to be very unprofessional.

I paid you for full coverage insurance. The Brazilian Avis said if in case of any collision, no matter at fault or not, they would charge me for the repair and I will have to apply for reimbursement with you. They placed a hold on my credit card in the amount of $1,300.00 So why I was not given any explanation from you? Give me a good reason why I should buy this sh...?

Very disappointed. At Rio de Janerio airport location nobody was speaking English. They made me pay for carwash . I guess I suppose to wash the car before returning 🤷‍♂️ For sure I will think twice before I use Avis again .

Total amount charged by Unidas was higher than the total amount of the reservation. Unidas/avis customer representative did not speak eanglish !!

We book a car pickup for 1 pm but our car wasn't available until 3 pm. Their credit card system didn't recognize our credit payment and they cancelled the transaction and when they tried to charge us again, our cards were blocked by our bank. This cause another 2 hour delay. After travelling with kids for 24 hours, all these delays were really frustrating. The customer service staff tried to help and gave us a little discount on our rental because we even had to upgrade since the car we booked wasn't available and the one that was in the same class didn't not have sufficient trunk space. So we had to pay more than we first agreed to with our rental.

I didn't take the car because Avis wanted to charge my credit card with a $3000 security deposit/ I never heard of such a thing. I had to rent a car from another company which did not have such a policy.
