Nestled on the beach, this Newport hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Don Davis Memorial Park, Nye Beach, and Burrows House Museum. Yaquina Bay State Park and Yaquina Bay Bridge are also within 15 minutes.
Beach and comfort all in one!Pros: The beach access was perfect, as was the view from the room. The hotel was close to everything, we walked to the shops at Nye Beach, plus a short drive to the bay front district. Breakfast coupons and free drink coupons on site were perfect! Cons: Nothing we didn't like!
Great value hotel with a great viewPros: Good room for a great price.
Room not availableCons: Upon arriving at the hotel I was informed that I did not have a room and that while I had booked a room with two queen beds there was only three rooms left in the entire hotel and they were single beds. I was also told that they had no record of my confirmation and I would have to contact my booking agency to get a refund. There was nothing the hotel could do for me, within ten minutes I was told that the three rooms that were available where now no longer available. While the issue may have been a result of miscommunication with the booking agency and the hotel the staff was less than friendly about the situation and while they were professional their attitude was one of "sorry, nothing we can do it's your problem". Based on the attitude of the staff I would not attempt to stay here again.
Pros: Got an amazing deal and didnt pay extra for an ocean view but still got one, hotel is right on the beachCons: You could hear all the noises from people walking and talking outside
Pros: tHE LOCATIONCons: iT WAS SHABBY AND RUN DOWN. WHO'S THE SLUMB LORD THAT OWNS IT? THERE'S SO MUCH DEFERRED MAINTENANCE THAT IT WOULD TAKE A CREW OF HANDIMEN MONTHS TO PUT IT BACK INTO GOOD SHAPE!
ShiloPros: Location... View was the best.Cons: Room was dated. Fridge was broke. Pool looked skungey.
A wonderful place to rest and enjoy the beach.Pros: The room and accommodations were excellent. The hotel staff is friendly and courteous. The beds were very comfortable and had very nice pillows. The waitresses in the restaurant were pleasant and helpful. They made a point of sharing the absolutely breathtaking sunset over the ocean with us and suggesting local attractions we might enjoy. The hotel is nice and has a great location, but the staff makes it even better. Cons: The food in the restaurant is not that good. We enjoyed the calamari, and the atmosphere and view were fantastic. It's not a bad place for a pleasant quiet meal, and you can't beat the view. But if you really want to experience good local dining ask the staff where the locals go for good food.
Pros: the view was niceCons: the hot water wasn't working and reception staff were grumpy
Old and dirtyPros: Won't be staying at a Shilo Inn ever again based on our experience at this location
step back in time...Pros: Ocean right out the door. Convenient to walk to cafes (panini and stephanies are great).Cons: For the price very dated amenities. Make me scared of what the $60 hotels in Newport are like.
Mediocre Pros: right on the beachCons: The place was really run down, the room was tiny and not that clean. Kinda overpriced. The restaurant was terrible. The server was nice and polite but it took 45 min just to get a cocktail order in and it took another two hours to get our food, and when the food arrived it was cold, extremely overpriced and all 3 of us didn't feel well the next morning.
The views were fantastic. Pros: The views! Every room had an unobstructed view of the beach. It was a nice change of pace compared to other hotels in that price range. Cons: The rooms were very dated. When I want to check in, there seemed to be too many trainees and not enough people behind the desk that knew what they were doing. It seemed like there was one person behind the desk that knew what he was doing. Every question from the other people checking in and the cleaning staff was going through him, which increased the waiting times for everyone else , the line was literally out the door. What stuck me as odd was there was another person there who knew what to do but decided that at 4:00, chech in time, she had to go home instead of helping out. Because of the line of people checking in and rooms not being ready by check in times, it took me 30 min just to get my room. If it wasn't for the view, I would of went somewhere else.
