Kangaroo Inn is a great place for budget-conscious travellers, as you can choose from various options, keeping in mind whether you would like to share a dormitory-style room or would prefer to stay on your own. If you don’t want to sleep in a bunk bed, why not book a single room? These are around 9 sqm in size. All bathroom facilities are shared at this hostel, but you’ll have your own space in your room with a comfortable single bed and cotton sheets, reading light and flat screen television, as well as a city view.
You’ll be able to check in at Kangaroo Inn at 14:30, but if you arrive beforehand, do speak to the front desk; if housekeeping has already been, you may be able to check in earlier. Reception is open from 09:00-19:00 during the week and 09:00-17:00 on the weekend, but there is a night caretaker on duty for late-night check-ins; be sure to let the hostel know if you will arrive late. Check-out is at 10:30; you may be able to extend this for a couple of hours depending on availability.
While there is no shuttle bus provided by the hostel, Kangaroo Inn is only about 10 km away from Perth International Airport (PER). From there, you could either hop into a taxi or organise a rideshare to the hostel. There are specific rideshare pick-up bays at each terminal and there are signs directing you to them. Alternatively, you could get Bus Route 380 from T1/T2 or Bus Route 470 from T3/T4, both of which stop at Elizabeth Quay Bus Station, around a 15min walk from the hostel. The 380 has dedicated luggage racks and is a limited-stop service, so this may be a wise option.
The hostel accepts credit or debit card payments from Mastercard, Visa and American Express, and you will need to show a valid photo identification and a credit card when you check in at reception. The property will require a damage deposit from you, and this will be returned to your card after your departure. Please note that all credit card payments will have a small transaction fee.
While Kangaroo Inn is not a party hostel as such, there is a games room that has board games and a pool table. If you fancy a quiet night in and an opportunity to meet some of the other guests, this is a good place to spend some time; there is also a small library and comfy beanbag chairs. The shared dining room and kitchen are also good places to gather. In the good weather, there is an outside terrace with barbeque facilities available for use by guests.
