The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age in Australia and all drivers must hold a full driving licence.  An International Driving Permit will be a necessity for UK drivers which can be obtained from the local licencing authority in the United Kingdom for a small fee and you should have held your driving licence for at least a year.  You may be subject to a surcharge and face restrictions on hiring certain vehicle categories if you are under 25 years of age.
