I did not get the rental that I reserved, and instead the car I got had a more cramped cabin with less features than I wanted. The pickup and dropoff location was also changed from the airport to a location 20 minutes away. Since Hertz did not have a shuttle, I had to pay for a Lyft both ways.

Even though I dropped it off early, they didn't check my car back in until a day later and are charging me extra rental and late fees. Their customer service is terrible. I will have to do a credit card charge back most likely.

Pros:

We originally booked a rental with Hertz, and had a nightmare. The vehicle broke down and it took 4 hours for Hertz to come pick up the vehicle and we were told there were no more available. We got online and booked with Alamo, which was more expensive but the transaction was a breeze, and pickup and delivery was fast and simple. The car was extra clean and ran like a dream.

Cons:

I wish we hadn't had to pay twice the rate of the other rental companies.

Cons:

No chance to review pre-existing damage with employee, I documented a paint chipped area myself, but when I returned the car they said I was lying. Now they want to make an insurance claim against me! Poor customer service, I will avoid Alamo/National from now on unless they admit their mistake.

Our car was filthy. It still had garbage in between the seat and in the compartment between the seat. Cups and bottles. There was white stuff smeared all over the front console.

The car broke down and the emergency road assistance took 4 hours to pick up the car and more 1.5 hours to get replacement with Avis Whole business day lost and couldn’t make it to meeting . No compensation given no apologies expressed

Estimated total. Total everywhere on kayak for $387 when I left it was $410. A surprise $23 fee out of no where and Avis wouldn’t change it for the total I quoted
