Pros: The hotel staff is very nice, they were very helpful, they can assist booking day trips to the islands or anywhere else you need to take a day tour to get to. The rooms are no frills, just a bed, desk, and TV, but they are very clean. The maid cleans the floors, makes the bed, and brings fresh towels every day. The rooms each have an air conditioner, which is essential in the heat of Cartagena. It sounds strange that there isn't hot water in the shower, but it's normal in northern Colombia. It is so hot out that you wouldn't want a hot shower, and the water isn't freezing cold, more like room temperature, so don't be surprised if it's your first visit. There is a filtered water cooler on every floor, so you don't need to buy bottled water. The hotel provides a buffet breakfast every morning, fresh fruit, arepas, eggs, juice, coffee, etc., it's enough to get you going in the morning. The price is right, very reasonable rates for a conveniently located, friendly hotel. The hotel is just a couple blocks from the walled old city and also a couple blocks from the pretty areas of Getsemaní.
Cons: The breakfast room is not air conditioned, there are lots of fans but no air conditioning, nor anywhere else on the first floor or any of the hallways. The hallways are looking a bit shabby and so is the exterior, the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, including to some rooms, so I imagine it will look fresher once they have finished.
