Pros: Built as the hotel for first class passengers at the end of the line on the Orient Express, this grand hotel oozes history and elegance. I had a corner room, which was massive and tastefully appointed. The marble bathroom was impressive. The staff is professional and attentive. I’ve wanted to stay at the Pera Palace for a while and it was worth every penny!

Pros: Everything from the bellboy to the cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and of highest quality and location was great, a lot of things to do if you don't mind walking. Historical sites are not close need to take a cab but not very far normally costing about 20-25TL.

Pros: Lovely new clean rooms -- modern with a touch of the old. New bathroom facilities, great bed, clean and fresh. Great touch with the Turkish delights and drinks to greet us! The staff is wonderful - Erdal was especially warm, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfast was great! Eggs, local cheese and fruits, yogurt, honey, breads -- really delicious! And all for an EXCELLENT price.

Pros: Hotel Sapphire was nicely situated in the sightseeing area of Istanbul. The hotel was lovely, the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, the breakfast buffet was a great start to the day. The tram is very near by, so it's easy to get around the city. The only downside is some of the nightlife spots are best served with a tram ride, and the tram stops running at midnight.

Pros: Everyone on the staff was very friendly, accomodating and efficient. They all spoke excellent English and none made us feel uncomfortable about not being able to speak Turkish. The hotel was clean and modern. The location of the hotel to tourist sites couldn't be beat.

Pros: Everything......particularly wonderful staff who went out of their way to help in everything- they stayed up waiting for us when we arrived at 3am, then they went to enormous lengths to get the hire car we wanted and had the car delivered to the hotel. Not only the service but they spoke impeccable English and very courteous in every way.

Pros: This hotel is a very good choice. Tha hotel staff is very helpful and nice, rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very tasty and abundant. The hotel is only five minutes walk from the main attarctions of Istanbul (Topkapi, Aya Sofia, Galata Bridge), so I can recommend to everybody to choose this hotel. You won't be disappointed. And last but not least the hotel has a very good transfer service from/to the airport.

Pros: The hotel had a fantastic location and one of the most breathtaking views of Istanbul that I've ever seen. We were able to walk to the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia from this hotel, although it was a lengthy (but enjoyable) walk.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and made every effort to make the stay as pleasant as possible. The reception spoke English and was able to help give us recommendations on places to go and directions to get there. I would absolutely stay here again.

Pros: Nothing was too much trouble, staff were helpful and charming at all times and went above and beyond the call of duty - they had my check in paperwork ready when I got there at midnight, even though I hadn't given them advance warning, had a platter of fruit ready in my room and even managed to find an adaptor at 1am. Faultless service. I would stay here again without hesitation and recommend it to others. In an 8-day stay, it was the last of 4 hotels I stayed in and while there are plenty of snazzier, more luxurious hotels - you have to pay top whack for that - the Golden City was spotlessly clean, facilities were immaculate and free wireless in the rooms (even the the 5* I stayed in earlier didn't have that). Excellent location too.

You are in walking distance of all the beauty of Istanbul. You can go to the roof with a terrace and enjoy the lovely view! Rooms are clean and breakfast is good.

Pros: The hotel staff were all friendly and polite in particular Irfan as he did go out of his way to help and advise on places to visit in the city. The health and Spa facilities were all clean and in working order, the staff working there are also very friendly and always at hand to help and assist. The hotel is a newly built so the condition of it is excellent and spotless and very close to the Metro station so is ideally located. The bathroom amenities are very good, the hair dryer is powerful and so is the iron.

Pros: This is a new hotel (Aug 2009) but the staff was very helpful and experienced. They had a good knowledge of the area. Very well designed rooms with excellent details. Location was very good and view from upper floor across to Blue Mosque etc was a plus. If this fits into your budget. It is worth it.

Pros: The hotel is one of the nicest I’ve stayed in around the world. It has a nice relaxed ambiance about it. Staff are mostly polite and friendly. The location is convenient in a nice neighborhood. Reception area is big and provides comfort that once you step foot inside you can feel it’s a safe haven in the very busy Istanbul. It hosts several shops and a cafe. Rooms are lovely, not small. Beds are very comfortable. Bathroom was big, clean and had basic toiletries. I would definitely stay at the Wyndham Old City Istanbul again in the future.
