Pros:

Staff at drop off was under a lot of pressure due to the virus situation, but they handled it well and I got my refund handled properly.

Cons:

Staff at pick up did not speak fluent English.

The car was way smaller than expected, I would have gotten a car similar size for much less money also the car was in bad shape dents and scratches everywhere.

Very nice car. Very friendly staff.

Cons:

I would have liked a little instruction on the specific controls on the car (how to use speed control etc.) but not a big issue.

Cons:

The rental counter is a bit far from the airport, so be prepared to spend a bit more time on pickup then with other companies. Otherwise, good experience.

Cons:

My flights were delayed so they gave my booked car away. They had no other car options either. Even though I entered all my contact information in while booking the car they said they had received no contact information through kayak. Very disappointing experience.

Received an eleven year old car with no safety features - there was no notice an older vehicle would be provided at time of booking.

After much searching we found the car we had been looking for - an 8-seater to carry six of us and our baggage. We were extremely happy with the Hyundai Imax that was provided for us which was in top running condition. It also met our requirement of pickup at Auckland and drop off at Christchurch with a trans-shipment over the ferry at Wellington. The rates were the most competitive and the vehicle was a new one, having done just over 30,000 kms. It had a fuel efficiency of approx 10 km to a litre. Even the last row seat was comfortable and the vehicle had a good ride comfort. The boot was spacious and adequate for six suitcases and an equal number of handbags. One small issue nagged us though once in a while - the left side rear door would at times not open from the inside even though the child-lock was not in the on position. Overall, a very happy and comfortable experience.

They cancelled our reservation last minute saying they can no longer serve the airport. However when we got here, we found out that they are still operating.

Honestly, nothing.

Cons:

Sixt refused to honor my rental. After waiting for some time for a shuttle I called to confirm they would be coming to pickup. They stated it had recently left and would pick me up in 15 minutes. 4-10 minutes later they called me back to say my rental was no longer available and I was out of luck.

Pros:

While rental been made with Sixt, car was provided by East Coast Car Rental. Pick up at airport by their shuttle has been fast & convenient, but you need to call for it upon arrival. Beware to their somewhat reduced business hours to make sure it suits your needs and flight schedule. Wait was minimal at counter since we were the only customers then. Car was clean & in perfect mechanical condition. Rates were much lower than with Avis or similar, so it was a good deal considering price/quality.

Cons:

From information gathered on Sixt website, we were expecting newer car as they mention theirs to be like 3-6 months old on average. Ours was more like 3-4 years old and 98K. Nevertheless its been in perfect mechanical condition, so despite that point, I don't hesitate to recommend.
