Good customer service at the pick up. Everything explained clearly. However charged 50+€ for an extra fee - I believe that I had confirmed I could avoid this fee if I returned the car back with 80% full electricity. I have tried contacting Hertz but no one has gotten back to me. I am happy to discuss what the fee is but disappointed that no one has contacted me.

Hertz is okay. The online booking is a rip-off. I specifically declined the collision protection because I had my own protection but it deliberately added that charged me more, there was no need of it. I asked the agent at kiosk to remove it but he could not do it. There were other similar charges which were not explained and felt like a rip-off. The renting started as cheap and ended quite expensive.

Total scammers. Try to pin us with damages that were previously on the car and the inspection. Make sure you do a full time stamped video of inside out all the wheels and even the underside. None of their insurance covers any incidentals. Double check your credit card if they provide rental insurance (plat amex doesn’t cover Italy) they prey on tourists & do not translate the documents at the end of the stay to steal more money from you. Be careful!

We never got to pickup the car as wrong information was shared online. We booked a 7 seater car only to show up at the airport (pickup location) to find out that they don’t have any 7 seater cars available. Very disappointing after a long journey!

Took an age to find the desk on arrival at Barcelona airport. We mistakenly went to the car pick up point first and they sent us back to their desk inside the terminal to do the parperwork . Process at the desk was quick and polite. Car was modern and clean (Seat Arona). Had a few of minor dents/scratches on pickup but we took photos just in case. Only problem of note was a wheel judder above 80km so really needed the wheels balancing. Full to full fuel policy filled up just outisde airport on return. Directions for return were reasonably straight forward - just took one wrong turn near terminal. Dropped keys in box as noone around (early Senday morning). Received an email later that day advising all checks done on vehicle and credit card deposit would be returned in around 7-9 days. Overall really happy for £160 covering a 7 day period (plus £50 own insurance).

Additionally they have zero flexibility for arrival time despite attempting to call multiple times. Upon arriving in Milan Italy, we had to change our plans at the last minute, and went to the SIXT counter at the airport. I booked online while standing at the terminal and when we got there, it would’ve been a delay with the car I reserved. Fortunately, they were able to get us a better car at a similar price which was immediately available. The experience and service went above and beyond. Special thanks to Sara Faize who worked at making the process very easy and satisfying.. Sara gave us her contact information and followed up with emails throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend SIXT.

Location at Milan train station was NOT UPDATED; VERY HARD TO FIND. As well as dropoff at Bologna airport. Dropoff location was NOT CLEARLY MARKED! I was charged again for insurance by affiliate Italian company!

The dropping of the car was a disaster. The staff refused to check during the drop-off upon my repeated request for checking. The next day I was given an email informing that there was a damage and charged my EUR435.

Premium estate car

KAYAK
The car type I had reserved (premium hybrid, estate wagon) wasn’t available. Instead I was given a large conventional SUV and told they were same cost because it was an “upgrade”

please contact me: this was my first experience with Kayak and it was a near catastrophy; i ve got from you a confirmed price of 40 usd annd when i arrived at the agency they had the booking but under 110 EUR !!! and although i had your confirmaation number i had to pay theh higher price. also they nearly didn t give me the car as i only had a debit card.
