Pros: Everything about this place is fantastic, the rooms have super comfortable beds and everything is very clean. The food was great at every restaurant and the staff is super accommodating. Beautiful private beach and nice pools.

Pros: The hotel is right on the Malecon with the BEST view for gorgeous sunsets over the water! Even though our room was street side, we could still see the water and hear the waves crashing to shore as we slept! The staff was helpful and prompt. We were only 1-2 blocks from bus stops (depending on the direction of travel). It was a very inexpensive and a great value for the money!
Cons: The "free continental breakfast" was rather minimal, but we supplemented with heartier items and paid the difference, which was VERY reasonable. Service in the restaurant was a bit slow.

Pros: I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. The location can not be faulted and the room was clean and well maintained. The pool is great and sitting there in the evening listening to the waves was very peaceful. Air conditioning was good as was the shower.
Cons: The room we got did not have an ocean view and unfortunately we were not able to upgrade due to the Mexican holiday. Room a little on the small size but mind you we did not spend a lot of time in it. Lots of noise from the street as well as the clubs that played until almost dawn. The weekends were the worst. Food at the hotel was on the mediocre side and pricey compared to other outlet in Vallarta. Fundamentally a basic hotel but well run and well located. Would not stay again but only because I would play more to get more amenities ----but for the price the Rosita is good value.

Pros: This hotel was excellent for the money and we got an amazing deal. It was a excellent budget hotel and the location was fantastic as it sits just at the top of the strip. The breakfast buffet was good but a little hard to negotiate the first time. I did not speak Spanish and the staff spoke enough English to cover the basics and were very nice. The pool was good and it was great fun to sit by during happy hour. The ocean view rooms are great, but I had a street view which was awesome for the people watching.
Cons: The beds were a little hard but after a few margaritas I managed to sleep through the night.

Pros: I loved how close the hotel was to the downtown area. I also liked the breakfast offered every morning (we stayed 5 nights). The staff at the front was very helpful when I asked how to rent jetskis.

Pros: Location to beach
Cons: ALL rooms have an ocean view, except X15 rooms. Unknowingly, I booked the one set of rooms that doesn't view the ocean. I've stayed here before and never knew there were non-ocean facing rooms, and the website didn't make that clear. We were there one night, and when asked to be moved, they wanted $80 more. It was already over-priced and not worth the value, in my opinion.

Pros: The views, rooms, and rooftop bar with jacuzzis are a plus. I enjoyed the modern room design and the check in process was seamless. Pool and beach are across from property and easily accessible via hotel! Location is less than 5 mins drive to shops and restaurants in the romantic zone (old town).

Pros: The staff at Almar were wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, very clean and we had a great view of the beach. Having access to the Mantamar Beach Club was nice as we spent a lot of time at the pool. The hotel is welcoming to all but we really appreciated that Almar especially caters to LGBT couples.
Cons: There is still construction going on around the hotel which was a little noisy but it wasn't as intrusive as some people suggested. They will try to sell you on a timeshare breakfast but our rep was very respectful and didn't push us to attend.

Cons: The hotel is under construction and the noise started at 8:00am and went on all day long and into the evening till 9:00pm. We were moved from one very noisy room to another that was still noisy. It's a nice place with lots of potential but I'd wouldn't recommend staying there till they are completely finished with all their construction.

Cons: The price was the same as the 5-star hotels 25 minutes south. My reason for staying at Villa Premier was that is was close into town. But the surrounding area kind of sucked. And Puerto Vallarta is not a super nice place and I would suggest to stay in a higher end place and venture out once a day into town.

Pros: We stayed at Mercurion first and rhen went to a fancy timeshare resort. Much preferred Hotel Mercurio. The location is in the middle of the gay district, clean rooms, free breakfast, and a staff that is friendly and does everything to make you free at home.

Cons: Many guests served way beyond their limit made for a sloppy atmosphere. We stayed for one night before heading to our resort in NV. Prob wouldn't do it again. if you're on spring break or a budget this place leaves a lot to be desired. Timeshare pitch was a hassle for guests staying only one night as well.

Pros: The location was central enough to walk most places and the bus and cab lines were easy to use. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very courteous.
Cons: Adult beverages were pretty weak. The condition of the rooms was ok, but nothing special and ours was a bit musty. They were also doing renovations on the tops 2 floors of the hotel while we there. You could hear every conversation that anyone was having in the hall and our toilet would occasionally run for no reason and was LOUD. If you love bad covers of any song, then this resort has the music selection for you.

Cons: I absolutely did not care for the pushy time share sales staff that circles around you every time we walked by. You couldn't even avoid them since their stand is right by the lobby & elevator. In addition, their sales tactics were pretty fraudulent. At first, everything sounds free, then these little fees start getting added and quoted rates change. Even when we were politely declining, they would follow you to the elevator or continue to push. I expected better from Sheraton than to allow this on their resort.

Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. It's close enough to walk to most things and is right on the beach. The pool area was wonderful too. We never struggled to find lounge chairs by the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were simple but clean which was fine for our stay.
Cons: The people in the room next to us stayed out late and were very noisy late at night when they were coming back to their hotel room so the walls must be somewhat thin. The food at the hotel was just ok. I'm glad that we didn't book the all inclusive option for our stay because we would have been tired of the food by the end of our stay. There are plenty of delicious restaurants nearby so there is no need to eat at the hotel all the time.

Pros: the hotel lobby was modern but the rooms were basic...the location was awesome...block to beach...park across the street with farmers market 2 days and one day was a wine tasting and live band and dancing....wonderful...i was very happy with the price we paid and what we got...i excepted an almost nightmare but was very happy with the room and hotel...the ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful...rooftop patio with pool and wonderful views of puerto vallarta...also, on the rooftop was were the "free" breakfast was served...the ladies working the breakfast were very pleasant and started your morning off great......
Cons: there was only one elevator and it was slow...also in the room, the bathroom drains on the floor had an unpleasant oder coming out of them ...we had to buy a bottle of bleach and pour down the drains....during the day when the maid cleaned the room it smelled great...but as evening wore on it would smell again...

Pros: Excellent downtown location! Steps from the Malecon. The park across the street had entertainment on the stage Friday and Saturday nights. We sat at the park for some and went to the hotel rooftop for the rest. Flea market in the park Saturday mornings with great food and other offerings. Wonderful views from the rooftop.
Cons: Noise from the bar next door continued until at least 11:00 at night. We were on the third floor in room 304 and it was loud enough to keep us up. Small room with old furnishings and torn pillows, but that's what I expected from a budget hotel 1/2-block from the bay. Both pools are small and not for swimming. Only one sheet provided with bedding - no blanket. WiFi was inconsistent. We would stay again, though.

Cons: This is not the place for someone who is well traveled. Even the most exclusive rooms are basic, No tubs, no frills. Spa is a joke, Lack of service and amenities. Pools are small and crowded with children, Beach is insanely small and rocky. Very limited lounging on the beach side. The place is covered with Timeshare families. So large parties with many screaming kids! Not the place for Honeymooners, Young singles/ couples, or a relaxing getaway. Best for a family of 5 on a budget.

Pros: The rooms were clean and has your basic needs. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We needed to use the phone to confirm a tour and the guy at the front desk called for me. They also stored our bags for us while we went out since check out was at noon and we didn't have to leave until later. The beach was not even a minute walk away. The market was across the street and there were placed to eat all around us. The location was great.

Pros: The price is obviously a plus. The staff were really nice and the concierge spoke really good English. The air conditioning worked really well. The pool is beautiful however right in the middle of everything so everyone is watching you from the restaurant and the hotel rooms. I also liked the location, it felt right inside of the culture of Puerto Vallarta, it didn't give off that resort vibe at all, if that's what you're looking for.
Cons: The shower we had would always flood the entire bathroom, with only a thin curtain and no ledge to catch the excess water. Also, everything just felt dirty. We found a weird yellowish stain on our sheets and they always felt a little sticky. Oh and by far the worst part was all of the fleas. There were hundreds of fleas in the bed, on the floor. Everywhere. And even though the air conditioning worked, it was so loud it's hard to hear your spouse talk.

Cons: Rooms are a little out dated. They should at least put some pictures on the walls. But my biggest pet peeve is having Wifi only in the lobby. We are in 2014 how hard can it be to have Wifi in all the rooms.

Pros: The view from the balcony was stunning and you have easy access to a very popular and busy beach, you are also right in front of the Los Muertos Pier. The staff is very friendly and provide you with anything you need. There is an Oxxo right outside of the hotel for quick runs of snacks, water, beer. A/C in the hotel is extremely helpful!

Pros: The location was the best, right in the heart of La Zona Romantica. The ocean front view was spectacular especially on New Year's Eve when the whole sky was lit up with fireworks. The maid assigned to our room was attentive, thorough and didn't mind when we asked for additional things - we highly recommend her.
Cons: Granted our stay was over new year's but for the price we paid ($350 per night) the rooms were under furnished (no coffee or end tables, no living room chairs other than a couch) and was filled with cheap furniture that looked as if it was bought at a flea market. Furthermore the kitchen was outside on the balcony and was not equipped with even basic supplies such as dish soap and scrubber, paper towels, coffee filters or the bare acceptable minimum of essentials such as cooking oil, salt, pepper or sugar. There was no filtered water available as in every other place we've stayed so we purchased bottled water. We will never stay here again nor recommend it to any of our friends, instead we'll stay at the beautifully appointed rentals available up and down Amapas that we've rented 8+ times in the last two years. The sad thing is this place has such potential.

Pros: For the most part, the staff was wonderful, and especially helpful and friendly were the guys supplying the pool and beach chairs and umbrellas. Also a special mention for Marcella. She does an excellent job of keeping the beach and pool areas in order, while also having a smile and being sociable. I don't want to forget our maid. She took great care of our room.
Cons: Just a few things I didn't like. The internet service is not good. It's bad enough to have to go to the lobby for service, but even that was spotty. The staff in the restaurant were impatient and a little cranky at times, but I think this might be because, in my opinion, the restaurant is understaffed. Just one more thing. We have some friends that live in Puerto Vallarta, and wanted to have them up to our room to have a cocktail before we all went out to dinner. They were turned away, and think that was rediculous.

Pros: The location is really good. The rooms are clean (our maid was a delight; she worked hard and the cleanliness of the room showed it). The hotel staff is dynamite. The hotel is older and showing some signs to wear-and-tear, this is to be expected along the ocean. I would definitely stay at the Tropicana again!
Cons: The restaurant and bar need some special attention! Some of the staff, in these locations, is ill-tempered and uncaring; this was in sharp contrast to the graciousness of the rest of the staff. Food choices were limited and the restaurant was not open for dinner. The Tropicana, to be a major hotel contender in P.V., needs to attend to their food and beverage departments.

Pros: Room 116 which is way in back in north east section. My 3rd and probably last stay there. Reservation said room with balcony and river view. When i got there they said no river view rooms available and they said the same thing the next few days. Bed was hard and not level, kind of a humpback. Toilet would only flush once every 15 minutes as is takes that long for the tank to refill. Window blinds were thin so not very dark in the room at night. They updated the TV to a nice flat screen with many channels though only about 6 in english. The TV remote did not work consistently. Maid service was good. Location pretty good for the price, a block or so from ocean, few blocks from usable beach. If you are over 49 you probably would not put up with all of the little problems with this place. If you get a river view room you can overlook most of them, otherwise i would pass. Air conditioning worked OK though loud which helped drown out the street noise. The shower had very hot water to my surprise though the toilet is located basically in the shower which is odd. Ceilings are nice and high. Free wifi, in the lobby only, which is nice. The lights in the room are not very bright making it hard to shave or put on makeup. Saw a gecko in my room once.

Cons: I have always stayed at the Blue Chairs. This trip I had a reservation at another hotel and then I was to move to the Blue Chairs. I went by to visit my favorite staff members there and the place was a disaster. The construction on the next wing of the hotel is still ongoing (after 3 years) the hotel next door has major construction happening and the place next door does too. This made the entire bl;ock a noisy dirty construction site, anything but relaxing. I went to to the hotel and went up to the roof top bar and that too is being remodeled (both floors at once????) which makes it a total loss. The owner seems to be busy sinking money into future hopes of the hotel vs. caring for current customers. The restaurant area outside needs maintenance work done, the chairs and umbrellas looked awful and even the poor staff were wearing new shirts which were the cheapest, thinnest things I have ever seen them in. After my visit I cancelled my visit and stayed elsewhere. The competition has gotten better and I think caught the Blue Chairs asleep. I'm not sure it can win their loyal customers back.

Pros: The location for the events we wanted to do, and the other gay areas was good, and you don't have to pay extra for the beach.
Cons: Housekeeping actually stole my iPhone charger and they did absolutely nothing to correct the situation, regardless of my multiple visits to the front desk. The room was dirty, even after housekeeping came in - when I checked in there was urine splatter all over the toilet. There was no shelf in the shower and mold growing on the bottom of the shower curtain. The building is constantly under construction, so don't expect to sleep at all during the day - and if not from the construction noise, than from the music they blast in the pool/rooftop bar areas. The food is edible...but not tasty or good. The staff is...meh. I will never stay there again. For only a few dollars more, I can stay somewhere way nicer.

Pros: This is a gay friendly resort in a fabulous location right in front of the Los Muertos Beach. You can literally walk to everything from this hotel which is very convenient for travelers. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They didn't give me a hard time about trying to check in early or late checkout. My room was clean and comfortable and had a balcony with a beachfront view! Definitely a great value for the money. When you stay here you get to enjoy the chairs on the beach for free. Great to relax and read a book or enjoy the eye candy. They have a restaurant downstairs with very reasonable prices. They also offered to clean our room every day and were flexible when we asked them to come back later. I really enjoyed my visit overall and am glad I stayed here!
Cons: I was worried when reading the reviews of the quality of the property. My room was one of the older rooms but it had been updated. The property overall is under construction and on some days the noise is bothersome (though the construction noise was only audible about 2 out of the 7 days I was there). They have a drag show with loud music between 7-10pm or so. I was on the 4th floor so it was too bothersome but I could definitely hear it inside my room when the balcony doors were open. If you're sensitive to noise or want a serene more relaxing property I wouldn't stay here. I personally sleep with earplugs so it didn't bother me. The water pressure was OK and took a few minutes to warm up. Otherwise those would be my only complaints. Oh the elevator is a little slow so if you're impatient I recommend staying on the lower floors (it's quieter too). Otherwise it's a great property especially considering how inexpensive it is.

Cons: first room had view of couples bedroom - they liked to keep their curtains open. after paying for "upgrade" got a smaller room with small balcony. the room had no towels, no light bulbs, no blankets. the hairdryer was so broken it could have electrocuted someone. permanent stains on towels, sheets, blankets and bedspread. no cups or glasses. no coffee maker. shower drain and toilet drain were clogged. pools were very small and all surrounded by buildings. highly not recommended.
