The view was lovely. However, it has to be set we booked for a top floor room but were booked into a bottom floor. It was solved but we not to it correct the first time. Breakfast was fine. Sadly the lift was working to I think to the staff's convenience. Working in the late evening not working during the day and also not working early morning. When booking in the staff elevator was made available because of our luggage but the hallway exuded a nauseating odour. This was explained as being in the back of the hotel and near the kitchen, hmm! Not a good PR.
Room was comfortable, clean and had a lovely view.
THE COMFORT OF THE LOUNGE AREA. GOOD POSITION AND SEA VIEW IS VERY GOOD
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT COULD BE BETTER. WE HAD TO GO NEXT DOOR WHICH WASN'T AS NICE.
All AOK but room maintenance a little poor - failure to top up milk, coffee sachets, loose shelf that fell down in bathroom, due to low quality poor fixing design ( I am an engineer).
It was fine, I thought the Art Deco themed styling was excellent and would stay there/recommend to any one.
I stayed for two nights half board in a superior single room at the Cumberland. The public rooms of the hotel are very well presented and my room, although not the biggest, was comfortable, very clean and nicely furnished. The staff were, throughout my stay, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet affair with both hot typical English or Continental options available, plenty to eat and all good. The evening meal on both nights I was there was just fantastic. There was an a la carte option available in a separate restaurant (which was extra) but to be honest the 3 course inclusive meal (plus coffee) was just outstanding in its quality and service, it represented great value. I wouldn't hesitate to either visit again myself or to recommend to anyone else.
Lift availability was unreliable when I stayed and I was on the 4th floor!
