Pros: The staff was very friendly. I rented a Jeep Wrangler and received a Honda CRV. I would not have mentioned it, but it was specific that it was a Wrangler to enjoy the environment on this vacation. Our flight was late, so they cancelled the Jeep and gave it to someone else after two hours. Nowhere does it say after two hours your car is cancelled ( I would’ve called if I knew this information). They did not call to confirm.

Pros: The customer service was extremely four and we truly did not like any part of the interaction with Payless car rental.Cons: The customer service representative was extremely rude. We waited literally an hour and a half in line because every customer was taking about a half an hour to process. We were asked to present our entire car insurance policy to the representative in order to rent the car. No one brings their entire insurance policy with them, and they required it which was why the line took so long. I finally had to call my car insurance back in the states and have them send me my entire plan so that I could show the representative. They also forced us to buy a tollway pass for 60 extra dollars because they lied and said that we couldn’t pay with cash to get through the tolls. Worst car rental service I have ever experienced.

Pros: The vehicle was exactly what we were told we were going to get. Enough room for our family.Cons: Upon arriving, we were surprised to see that the place was NOT at the airport, they had to send a shuttle. When booking it said Payless Car rental was at Luis Munoz International, not the case. Fine. When we got to the location our expected price to pay was not close to what we paid. It was about $80 more. When asking the associate about the extra charges we were unable to get a break down for additional charges. All we were told was additional taxes and fees. But taxes and fees had already been on the estimate. No where on the reservation does it say that we were to be charged additional. Only time under terms and conditions that we were to get charged additional is pick up or drop off at a different time date or location. OR choosing a different vehicle. It is disheartening that this company takes advantage of families this way. Arriving later at night in a island that you don’t know, do you truly have any other option than to abide by their last minute changes? I will not be returning to kayak for future bookings.

Pros: The car was clean and ready and the staff was nice.Cons: The online description says rental car at airport but they actually shuttle you to an offsite location. We had a hard time finding where to go to get the shuttle to the car and that’s frustrating after a long day of flying. There are no signs at the airport that I saw to help. So, that took lots longer than expected. Also, all it said you needed is a drivers license. You need to bring proof of insurance or they make you buy it there. This rental was extremely expensive, 4 times the price in Florida and I would have done things differently had I known all of these things.

Cons: Oh my, this place is a mess... it's now called allied. I rented here before with the same experience. This time I had to cancel because they were saying my online rate wouldn't allow me to use my private vehicle full coverage.... so rented online then they wanted an additional 174$... went to NU down the street got a nicer car for same original online price. Also 2 different customers were accused of damaging their car while we were standing in line, both had taken pics and proved otherwise. It is slow, rude, disorganized, poorly ran, etc.

Pros: I reserved the car in May for a June trip and called 1 week before to confirm my reservation. I arrived at 1:30 a.m. and was told that there were no cars available. I was told to return to the airport later in the morning as they MAY (not will) have cars available. I called the 1-800 number to see if there was a way to confirm if there would be any cars available as I didn't want to waste my time and cab money going back to the airport. I was also traveling with 2 kids, which made this situation a little more difficult. The representative that I spoke to was nasty and one of his comments was that "it wasn't his problem". When I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager he told me he didn't have one and hung up on me. I went back to the airport the next morning and there were 8 others waiting in front of me. I timed the check-in for the couple that was already at the counter and it was about 20-25 minutes. Do the math. With 8 people in front of me, I was sure I would spend at least 2 hours waiting to get the counter and even when I got there, there was no guarantee I'd get a car. Luckily I found another car from another company. I will NEVER EVER rent from Avis.Cons: The entire experience could have been better.

NEVER rent from USavePros: When I landed, the rental agency was closed. They knew what time my flight was coming in but they did not notify me when I booked the reservation that their office would be closed when my flight arrived. I called the national number. They said if I called the local number someone would pick up. They didn't. National number also said they would have someone call me back as soon as they opened in the morning. They did not. I called the national number several times in the morning but kept getting sent to voicemail with a promise they'd call me back. They never did. Finally called the local number in the morning. He asked what time I arrived the night before and said they were closed at that time. (Funny... the national office said they closed at a different time... ) Local guy also said said because I had not shown the night before he'd canceled the rental. I asked how could he help me now. He just said he couldn't. Told me to go online to rent a car from them. I went online and the site said to call the local office to rent a car. At that point I just gave up.

Cons: I received my rental and everything was fine. Two days into my trip the brakes on the car I rented failed and thank god I was able to stop the car. I then had to get the brakes replaced at my expense. Making the trip miserable. I was reimbursed for the brakes after I returned the car, but in no way does that compensate for the moment you step on the brakes to find there are none. This company needs to remember that vehicle maintenance and customer safety needs to come first and foremost.

Kayak quote was $158.08 they said minimum was $184.69. That's after we went through a big hassle discussion about insurance. They would not honor my premier visa insurance. I had to call my Regular auto insurance co and get a copy of my policy for them. They also took an imprint of my credit card which they said they will keep on file for 30 days in case there is any additional charges or un discovered damage. The whole thing made me pretty uncomfortable. Not even sure they can legally do that?
