The car was filthy, was not filled with gas but was expected to be returned as such, and car seat was disgusting, had to buy one from Walmart as it was that bad. Usually when I've rented before in other places locations I have not had these issues. Staff was friendly and attentive.

A very comfortable Hyundai Tucson! Small, compact, with a nice size storage area for 4 people & much luggage!!! I was disappointed that both self checkin kiosks were not functioning at San Juan, PR airport. And where I booked the rental…I had read & was under the impression that all 4 of us could drive at no extra cost. But no…only 2 of us could drive and the extra driver was $10 a day extra. Not major but disappointing.

The previous user apparently was smoking and on the beach. The smell of cigarettes and the sand on the carpet was noticed.

Check-in was great! The agent was quick, and they were even able to get us in a day early, but, like any other rental agency they upsell. Sell us prepaid gas, which is usually cheaper than the going gas rates, but this time it wasn't. In fact, it was $12 more than the most we paid anywhere on the main island to fuel up from nearly empty. Being that I have been to PR before, when suggesting to get the protection on the vehicle we agreed, but after seeing the 3 cars they had left for economy, I quickly changed my mind. They were all horribly damaged already! We picked the one with the bumpers hanging on the best, took pictures before we left of the exterior and left. The pictures they take at the exit... I have no idea how thorough they are or how closely they look at them. So we leave. The car feels dirty inside and smells kinda gross so I look around to find poorly cleaned up VOMIT to the passeger side headliner and floor mat. Absolutely disgusting! The worst part is we had to spend the first night sleeping in it because we couldn't get into our lodging! They told me we only get charged for tolls if we go through them, but no it is a $3.50 convenience fee a day plus the toll cost. Anyways long story short, don't rent an economy car. They don't even have cruise control. P. S. Yes, someone put on a walmart hub cap and zip tied it. Which fell off before we even left San Juan.

After calling the local Enterprise on Thursday prior to my Saturday reservation and tellimg then I would definitely be there by 2pm for my car pickup, when I called from the airport at 1:45 pm no one answered the phone. Assuming no one was at the location I was forced to find another deal which cost me another $300. Worst desk ever. Would not use kayak or Enterprise at this point.

The staff were beyond helpful and friendly, the car was new and in good condition, and the price was right. There are a few chairs outside to sit and you can't go in because of covid, so it's not a place where I wanted to set down my backpack. Would definitely recommend.

Terrible customer service. The morning we had to catch a plane home the car wouldn’t start. We got a cab to the airport. I dropped the keys off to thrifty and they charged me over two thousand dollars without explaining anything. They could not have been ruder or less accommodating. After calling their support number I was hung up on once and the second woman was nice but couldn’t help at all. I will never do business with them again.

Their charge of $11.99 per day for then usage of the toll card is an absolute rip off. And one does not have an option. Check in was also slow. Only one employee at counter.

The car was clean. The staff could have been nicer more respectful. If I rent and pay for a full sized suv I should have received a full sized suv not a compact suv. I was charged the same price for a compact suv when that’s not what I reserved .

Our flight was delayed and when we arrived after 10 pm. Thrifty had closed for the night. The other agencies were still open but had no cars. Told to come back at 6 AM, so had to rent a hotel room. Came back just before 6. Found the agent. Said there was no car available and that the reservation was canceled. She was annoyed that I wasn’t aware that I needed to call the agency when I knew about the delay. After fruitless back and forth with her and the manager. We regrouped and used a local agency. More expensive for fewer days, plus cost of hotel room. Not very sympathetic agents. I assume because they know their policy sucks and that there hours are unreasonable.

The staff was very friendly. I rented a Jeep Wrangler and received a Honda CRV. I would not have mentioned it, but it was specific that it was a Wrangler to enjoy the environment on this vacation. Our flight was late, so they cancelled the Jeep and gave it to someone else after two hours. Nowhere does it say after two hours your car is cancelled ( I would’ve called if I knew this information). They did not call to confirm.

Things went very smoothly. The price was good and it was only an extra $10 a day for a less than 25 year old to drive which was cheaper than I was expecting so I appreciated that. They were not extremely picky on inspection, I had feared they’d find a way to not give back the whole $250 deposit but they returned it in full upon a quick inspection of the car. Overall everything went perfectly and the price was unbeatable, came out under $60 a day for a sedan. And the shuttle service was timely and the drivers were really nice and helpful.

The customer service was less then stellar. Upon arriving we tried to call the number to request a shuttle but the number on the reservation kept asking for a password. We asked someone who worked at the airport and they said try and catch the shuttle. We saw a van that had the name on it and ran over to find that they were full and that the next van should be there shortly. After 15 minutes another van showed up and the same issue it was full and so my husband and I had to split up just so we could get in. My husband came another 15- 20 minutes later about the time I was finishing with completing everything. The site should have everything that is needed up front upon booking instead of waiting until you get there to have to find and figure out items that are needed like the insurance card and the other passengers License to be added to the account. The car was very manual. Seats were uncomfortable but for the price it was doable to get us where we needed to go. The customer service upon returning was with very limited conversation. I asked if there were separate lines for returns and I was told stand over there. I asked again, are there separate lines for returns and was still instructed to stand over there. I went to stand over to the side and someone finally answered my question and said yes the line is for both returns and pick ups. When I got to the window the shuttle driver took our keys outside and bought them in but when I got to the window I was explaining that to them and they seemed to look like they did not know what I was talking about. It was a very frustrating process to the end of our vacation.

PriceHad to get a $15 cab ride because their shuttle operation. Was not in service. I tried to modify my rental and they did not answer the phone, I dropped off the car and they were not open during their posted hours. Their website said they had no cars available when in reality they were closed for business. I simple phone call could have sufficed. They could have had someone to answer phone calls remotely even if they were closed.

The customer service was extremely four and we truly did not like any part of the interaction with Payless car rental.The customer service representative was extremely rude. We waited literally an hour and a half in line because every customer was taking about a half an hour to process. We were asked to present our entire car insurance policy to the representative in order to rent the car. No one brings their entire insurance policy with them, and they required it which was why the line took so long. I finally had to call my car insurance back in the states and have them send me my entire plan so that I could show the representative. They also forced us to buy a tollway pass for 60 extra dollars because they lied and said that we couldn’t pay with cash to get through the tolls. Worst car rental service I have ever experienced.

We were given an estimate of around $90 for our rental and then charged an additional $100 in hidden fees at the counter. It is what they call the “bait and switch” and it felt unquestionably criminal; we are pursuing legal means to recover the double charges!

PriceThe pick up process need improvement. It took an hour and 20 minutes to get the car from the time I arrived to the rental place. Also the car need maintenance. The wiper blades were bad and front tires barely had thread.

We were guaranteed a convertible - this is the only treason we chose to go with Sixt. When we arrived, they didn’t have one. They tried to put us in another car at the same price. We would have saved a lot by going elsewhere for a different car. Overall the experience was poor. We will not use Sixt again.

When we arrived on site after the shuttle it was soo hot and someone came out with cold water bottles, that was a major plus. My rental car reeked of cigarettes... I eventually got use to it but gross! -probably only downside. Otherwise great service and friendly staff!

I chose to rent a car from Sixt because my other rental I had booked failed to inform me they closed at 2pm on a Saturday so I had scramble to find something for us as we were staying in Yauco on the other side of the island. I knew I would be paying more. I found Sixt in a quick search while standing at the airport, saw they had a shuttle service, and off we went. The car we got was a different model, smaller than expected. And then to our price we were forced to add toll coverage and insurance which boosted the price by $400 for a one week rental to $1400. So basically, don’t expect what it says you will get, and add about 40% to the quoted price.

I was picked up at the shuttle pretty quickly. The driver was friendly. Was dropped off at the site. I heard the driver call in and told them my last name and he had checked my car pick up time on the last and told dispatcher. The driver brought us out some bottles of water and said we had to wait until someone from inside would come outside and call us. My party and I waited on some uncomfortable seats outside under a tent for over an hour. I then went inside to see why so long of a wait while everyone else was coming and going. I was told by an attendant calling the folks to get their cars that I had to go back outside and wait for my name to be called. I went back outside and waited another hour went by. So now I got there at 10am and it’s now 12:15 and I’m still waiting. I went back inside to find out my name was NOT EVEN ON THE LIST. MEAN WHILE I HAVE A RESERVATION FOR A 200.00 car ECONOMY RENTAL IN SAN JUAN, PR. OUTRAGEOUS. NO REAL APOLOGIES FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, no Upgrades no anything. Not a very good way to treat customers, especially just arriving into the island. Someone messed up and unfortunately at my expense.

The car was clean and ready and the staff was nice.The online description says rental car at airport but they actually shuttle you to an offsite location. We had a hard time finding where to go to get the shuttle to the car and that’s frustrating after a long day of flying. There are no signs at the airport that I saw to help. So, that took lots longer than expected. Also, all it said you needed is a drivers license. You need to bring proof of insurance or they make you buy it there. This rental was extremely expensive, 4 times the price in Florida and I would have done things differently had I known all of these things.

Overall I had a great experience but there wasn't any communication or signage about how to catch the shuttle from the airport. I didn't even know to catch a shuttle since the shuttle didn't have any signage for dollar nor were there any emails ahead of time explaining this. I had to ask a representative from another rental company what to do. I called them on the phone and they confirmed the information I received.

Oh my, this place is a mess... it's now called allied. I rented here before with the same experience. This time I had to cancel because they were saying my online rate wouldn't allow me to use my private vehicle full coverage.... so rented online then they wanted an additional 174$... went to NU down the street got a nicer car for same original online price. Also 2 different customers were accused of damaging their car while we were standing in line, both had taken pics and proved otherwise. It is slow, rude, disorganized, poorly ran, etc.

Nothing. I arrived at 10:00 AM. I waited in the hot garage with mosquitos for 45 minutes. We got our car after 11. The computer system was down so the 2 customers in front of me took about 25 minutes each.We showed up at 10:00 AM, we should have gotten our car before 11....We could have been allowed to wait in the AC instead of the hot mosquito infested garage... The employee could have moved a little quicker. I would not rent here again. The car gas tank could have been full instead of 5/8's, so many things could have been better.

I did a reservation to pick up vehicle @ 10:00pm. I arrived @ the airport about 8:50pm. Im waiting for a vehicle to pick me up at that time. No one had arrived, I called no one answer. I got a UBER to get there. There were close at 10:00pm. So I had to Uber back to the airport and get a rental a ENTERPRISE which the rate was the same and better services and they gave me upgrade. So will do business in the future with ENTERPRISE. So I called the next day I spoke with a representative early and he was unprofessional. Saying that I was a liar and etc etc. All I told him to not charge anything on my card . USAVE, I think they have to change that name. Unfortunately

NEVER rent from USaveWhen I landed, the rental agency was closed. They knew what time my flight was coming in but they did not notify me when I booked the reservation that their office would be closed when my flight arrived. I called the national number. They said if I called the local number someone would pick up. They didn't. National number also said they would have someone call me back as soon as they opened in the morning. They did not. I called the national number several times in the morning but kept getting sent to voicemail with a promise they'd call me back. They never did. Finally called the local number in the morning. He asked what time I arrived the night before and said they were closed at that time. (Funny... the national office said they closed at a different time... ) Local guy also said said because I had not shown the night before he'd canceled the rental. I asked how could he help me now. He just said he couldn't. Told me to go online to rent a car from them. I went online and the site said to call the local office to rent a car. At that point I just gave up.

I received my rental and everything was fine. Two days into my trip the brakes on the car I rented failed and thank god I was able to stop the car. I then had to get the brakes replaced at my expense. Making the trip miserable. I was reimbursed for the brakes after I returned the car, but in no way does that compensate for the moment you step on the brakes to find there are none. This company needs to remember that vehicle maintenance and customer safety needs to come first and foremost.

Insurance pusherNothingThey force you to take on their insurance if you cannot produce a letter for your insurance company proving coverage. The coverage offered was 1 1/2 times more than the rental.

U don,t saveWell in the end you don't save. Lots of hidden fees that they say are mandatory, like roadside assistance insurance cost me $24.00. Not shown on my kayak reservation total. Kayak quote was $158.08 they said minimum was $184.69. That's after we went through a big hassle discussion about insurance. They would not honor my premier visa insurance. I had to call my Regular auto insurance co and get a copy of my policy for them. They also took an imprint of my credit card which they said they will keep on file for 30 days in case there is any additional charges or un discovered damage. The whole thing made me pretty uncomfortable. Not even sure they can legally do that?

No way!...we cxld our reservation and booked elsewhere.Waited 30 minutes curbside to finally call and receive no answer. Got picked up and driven to a hole in the wall building where the neighbor company was. Waited an hour while the person in front of us argued with the one service agent. Finally got to the front where he tried to scam is into buying incredibly overpriced insurance coverage and toll road packages. Ended up having them drive is back to the airport to rent with a reputable company. Don't go!!
