Pros: Breakfast great, location ideal bus stops outside the guest house.
Cons: Coming home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This grade II listed farmhouse offers a traditional bed and breakfast experience with modern comforts. Spotlessly clean and conveniently located in a quiet area around 5 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk from the town centre, this was a perfect base to explore Buxton and the Peak District with friends. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating and the breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family visiting the area in the future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely 16th century farm house B&B with lovely hosts Paul, Sarah & their dogs who are always around to help with local advice, directions etc. The breakfast featuring a Derbyshire oat cake was great. The house still has been done up to an excellent standard with modern bathrooms that don’t at all take away from the 400+ year old character of the house. There’s a decent amount of parking available on site & it’s a perfect location if you want to stay in Buxton but away from the town centre for a quiet nights sleep at the weekend. Would definitely stay again.
Cons: No complaints at all.

Pros: Beautiful view. Great breakfast. Friendly owner.
Cons: Proximity to a busy road was kind of noisy, but it still wouldn’t stop us from visiting again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was well cooked and very efficiently served. There was plenty of choice including a full vegetarian breakfast. The location suited us well as it was close to New Mills.
Cons: The bed was a bit uncomfortable. As it was a very warm night we had to keep the double glazed windows open and were disturbed by traffic noise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was decent size and comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
Cons: Our bed was a little too soft , comfortable but lacked a bit of support. This is a personal view and may of course suite others perfectly. Exiting the car park felt a risk due to fast traffic and limited vision. Otherwise very good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A lovely warm welcome. The bedrooms were all well equipped and full of character. Breakfast bountiful and delicious. Thank you so much for catering vegetarian and gluten free. I felt that my needs were as important as everyone else.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accommodation and friendly, personal service from owner and daughter. Very comfortable bed and tastefully furnished room with good , full, en suite bathroom. Also great view of beautiful, moorland landscape. A really well cooked breakfast topped it all off before sadly having to wend our way home. Would love to stay again when passing through in the future.
Cons: Hot water takes about 5 minutes to come through in the bathroom.

With a stay at 9 Green Lane Bed and Breakfast in Buxton, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Buxton Museum and Art Gallery and St Ann's Well. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: So Clean and tidy and quiet.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bath and the bed was extremely comfortable
Cons: Originally we were directed to a room with only a shower while i had specifically asked for a bath on booking, which was clear on the confirmation. After pointing this out, the hotel owner took us to a room with a bath which was in a better location and a more inviting room. Alls well that ends well
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location close to centre. Off street parking. Good sized clean bedroom with modern bathroom. Obliging owner who served a very good breakfast. Would stay again.

Cons: Breakfast very disappointing it was cold and no taste supposed to be freshly made
7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Nice neighbourhood
Cons: Checkout should be more organised
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very well situated for the town centre. Good breakfast to pre-order. Caroline makes very tasty jams which you can enjoy at breakfast.
Cons: Was on the ground floor so had to sleep with the window closed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Handy place to stay if you're visiting Buxton and around. Easy parking. Nice home cooked breakfast. Very good value.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely breakfast with homemade jams. Caroline and Rupert make you feel welcome. They provided lots of information for places to visit. B&B rooms were clean.
Cons: Bed a little lumpy but slept OK once I got a comfy spot. Perhaps someone could take a look at the fan in the bathroom because I couldn’t get it to work, despite instructions in the welcome book or what to do (though could just have been my fault).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of room considering it was a single room. Often a single room is little more than a cupboard, but here I had plenty of space for all my walking gear and all facilities you would expect and need. Everything was very clean and the bed comfortable. The food was excellent with home-made bread and jams.
Cons: Can't think of anything!

Pros: Loved the king sized bed and the fresh, spacious rooms. Staff were friendly and breakfast was lovely too. Plenty of parking, quiet at night and good view across the fields.
Cons: Access road is very bumpy and needs some work, but that's the only negative I have!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: An excellent breakfast. Caring staff. Comfortable beds.
Cons: The bumpy drive up to the Grange.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place to stay. The family room was really good. Bed was large and comfortable. Great location. The owners were friendly and very helpful. Good and reasonably priced drinks available from the bar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely location, quiet, within 2 miles from Buxton centre, staff were highly professional, friendly. Breakfast is delicious.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent in both choice and quality. The owners were very welcoming and we felt like nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious, with good lighting, and the ensuite was especially good, though the shower didn't have great water pressure.
Cons: The only thing we didn't like was the potholed access road!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was cooked to order which is always nice.
Cons: The bumpy unmade road that led to the accommodation.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious! Welcome was warm, and nothing was too much trouble re info & help! Thank you!
Cons: Small complaint - couldn't get on with the fancy 'waterfall' washbasin!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and hospitality, peaceful and tranquil site. Great location.
Cons: The mattress could have been a little more plush and better ventilation in the bathroom such as a larger opening window or extractor fan.
7.0 Good
Pros: Pleasant room and people.
Cons: Having to walk across a yard for breakfast and travel over a very rough road in and out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, good breakfast, quiet location close to all the sights of the Peak District
7.7 Good
Pros: The location isnt brilliant! It's at the end of a potholed drive and at the end of an industrial estate - but it is only 5 minutes from the town centre of Buxton. The rooms are not big and the bathroom is tiny but it has all the facilities. However, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was more than enough. The price is very attractive and of course, parking is free which is not the case in the centre of Buxton. We would stay again!
Cons: I suppose we would have preferred a bigger bathroom. There is only room for one person at a time.
The Old Hall Inn - High Peak - Building
6
9.2 Excellent (365 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at The Old Hall Inn in High Peak, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Chestnut Centre Otter, Owl and Wildlife Park and Millennium Walkway. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food is amazing and the location is beautiful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cottage was beautiful and the location was stunning.
Cons: The z-bed for my daughter was a blow up mattress that had mostly deflated by 5am. Some of the staff were a little clueless at times.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming & comfortable accommodation. Really good breakfast.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was lovely. The bathroom was fresh and clean with a good shower. Breakfast was very good in parts - excellent orange juice and fruit - but there was no choice offered for the 'full English' so I ended up with mushrooms, beans and tomato which I didn't want and a fried instead of a poached egg.
Cons: It was a bit noisy with people coming and going from the bar. And on a warm summer night the only bed covering was a thick duvet. Some of the staff were friendly and welcoming (especially the woman who served breakfast and the 'girl with black and white hair') others were less so - rather curt and lacking in grace. The room was somewhat overpriced for what was offered.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great place in de high peak. Lovely room, good bed, nice bathroom, all in all very tastefull designed in the very old Inn. Good food, lovely drinks.
Cons: Our Stay was too short
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the location, staff and the room were top quality!
Cons: the breakfast wasn't the best - sausages tasted funny!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful. house, dinners, location, staff
Cons: nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good room although a little small, adequate bathroom facilities. everything was very clean. Food was excellent, I had the chicken liver pate for a starter which kind of got me off to a false start as the pate was served with untoasted foccacia which was a little strange and I did not find overly pleasant but I had the lamb rump for main and chocolate delice for dessert and both of those were excellent and I would highly recommend. Staff friendly and helpful (although don't believe them if they tell you the local shop is a quick 10 min walk down the hill)
Cons: Not to much bad to say to be honest except for maybe toast the foccacia and maybe tune in a few more channels on the freeview
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay! Were delighted to get chatting to some friendly locals! Rooms were all individual and beautifully finished. Staff were very helpful and we would definitely recommend it as a place to visit
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and restaurant food was good. The real ale and wine very good. Sitting out area was attractive. Staff were friendly and helpful.Nothing
Cons: Nothing of importance. Complementary toiletries would have been a nice touch in the Deluxe room. The vegetarian breakfast was very good but better quality of bread would have made it even better.

7
9.2 Excellent (128 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Buxton, Biggin Hall Hotel is in a national park, within a 10-minute drive of Dovedale National Nature Reserve and Tissington Hall. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just lovely in all respects
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Homely atmosphere, a fine sample of quintessential England. Nothing was too much trouble from the staff, the breakfast was delicious and rates as one of the best I've sampled in any hotel both here and abroad. The evening meal was equally flavour filled and tasty, real home made quality food. Compliments sent to the Chef! The complimentary beer and Sml bottle of Prosecco in your fridge on arrival was most welcome and the complimentary 'packup' of sandwiches and fruit and water was a very special touch. The weather was not kind to us and when the hotel lounge was a little on the chilly side, nothing was too much trouble to light the wood burner which soon created a cosy ambience. Met some lovely people on our stay with the lounge conducive to convivial chat and interesting conversation. Thankyou Biggin Hall for making our stay very lovely and to all the amazing people we met, see you next time.
Cons: When the hotel contacted us prior to our stay to confirm our booking, I highlighted the fact my husband had just had a total knee replacement ( 3 weeks previously) . The superior room allocated to us had a staircase that was narrow and curved and not easy to access and negotiate with a crutch however it was good exercise for His knee!
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Our room, no. 19, had low ceilings, for someone in excess of 6ft tall it wasn't great, only staying for 1 night so not a huge issue, however it would have been good to know beforehand about the reduced heights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Lovely garden. Comfortable beds. Great food. Breakfast. Bath and shower. Great staff. Big bath towels. Fresh milk for tea in room. Fridge. Biscuits. Free beer/prosecco. Free packed lunch. Everything was fantastic.
Cons: Towel rail was a bit hot for July (searching for something to say here!)
7.5 Good
Pros: Location, free packed lunch.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Setting and quality of food and service
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, clean, lovely facilities and very friendly staff. Lovely extras like complimentary drinks and complimentary packed lunches.
Cons: Nothing really. I would comment that we were in a small double which was fine for our stay. If you were staying for longer so had more luggage or were on the larger side then these rooms wouldn’t be for you as there was very little space to manoeuvre within the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just charming. Plus added free extras like lunches to take away , complimentary wine etc. Gorgeous location.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Building, views, facilities in the room. Complimentary welcome drinks. Very helpful staff.
Cons: Small room. We were warned but it was very tight. Low pressure in shower, but once notified they planned to check it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent location if you want to explore fantastic countryside. Very old world and not spoiled. Nice added extras, a glass of water delivered with drinks in the garden because it was warm Even though I didn’t ask for one. Fresh milk in a small fridge in the room for tea and coffee.
Cons: The shower in my room had no water when I went to use it at about 9:30 pm. Nothing could be done until the following day (The hotel was full so I couldn’t change rooms). I was asked the following morning what was wrong with it but offered no recompense in any way whatsoever for the fact that I had been unable to use it.

Pros: Location, comfy bed, friendly & efficient staff, good restaurant menu
Cons: First few minutes of disappointment on the access road to the car park at the back of the premises as it looked a bit run down - but realised soon after if may have been WIP

Cons: Wifi was unstable at times, it would be ideal if the wifi signal was able to reach my room (Room 3).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect except some smell of 1 toilet of 1st floor.
Cons: I suggest that if booking.com has announced that when customers arrive at the hostel earlier than check-in time, the hostel can’t keep your suitcase would be good.

Cons: The expectation level put on YHA level it is a great place. The only one may need more attention is that there wasn't consistency of the hot water during the morning. TIP: During our stay it was rather quiet but I have been told that there is a children group visiting the place on a regular bases. I assume that may can be a mood-braker although I have personaly find the lace quiet and welcoming.

Cons: The rooms need to be updated. Furniture and carpeting were on the shabby side. There was no frig in the room, and given the excessive heat, it would have been nice to have had a way to have stored cold water and/or ice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff very good. Very comfortable bed,

Pros: Met by a kindly night porter in the early hours of the morning. All the staff very friendly. Lovely airy room and tasty breakfast.
Cons: A little noisy in the early morning with building work next door. Didn’t spoil my stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Right in the center of town and an easy walk to all amenities. Next to a lovely park and the pavilion. The location could not be better. As the oldest hotel in England it is difficult to describe it a modern and too traditional to be boutique but it is very nice nonetheless. The breakfast was very good with a lot of different options to choose from.

Cons: I couldn't stay longer xx
6.3 Good
Pros: Location very good. Breakfast was good, very quiet and peaceful. Staff polite and friendly.
Cons: Hotel needs updating, the introduction of air conditioning would be a big step forward. We were disappointed with dinner; our choice was not available and we were not offered much as an alternative - a free drink/coffee in compensation would have been a nice gesture.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great quality & great price food. Beautiful building and grounds.
Cons: People who know they snore like a Rhino with congestion should not book a bed in a dormitory. I hardly slept a wink. I can’t believe someone has got to that age without knowing they make that noise. Sad as this was not the fault of the property. Hope others take note and are more considerate.

Pros: The staff were fantastic and moved us to alternative accommodation when we felt uncomfortable in the room. The pod was amazing.
Cons: It should be advertised as the specific Charles room when booking.
5.5 Okay
Pros: when it finally arrived (see below) the evening meal and wine was very good and excellent value.
Cons: carpets are shabby, not a lot of ground floor living space when the hostel is busy had to wait 30 mins after ordering evening meal even though table had been reserved in advance and one of the dishes was not available (restaurant was busy). see above however re meal.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning youth hostel on a beautiful location with gorgeous surroundings. We were pleasantly surprised. Staff at reception were very friendly. There's a warm atmosphere everywhere. We used the self catering kitchen and it was more than agreeable. Beds were lovely and bedlinen felt nice and fresh!
Cons: Rooms seem outdated and bathroom wasn't very pleasant as there was a stinging smell because of lacking ventilation I think. It was considerably clean though. For the price it didn't bother us much.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was lovely. Room was generally pleasant and the staff were lovely. The location is fab.
Cons: Breakfast was only served between 8 and 9 and whilst delicious this time slot is a bit restrictive. The TV in the room was tiny and whilst we were there to sight see, being able to relax in front of the telly before bed would have been nice. The room was incredibly warm.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location great for exploring Buxton and the dales. Comfortable and clean room.
Cons: Luke warm greeting on arrival . The shower was a little tricky to control temp initially and the screen didn’t fit or pull around easily. We were asked what we would like for breakfast but felt unsure of available options a simple menu card would have been useful.

Cons: Staff apart from lady cleaning & serving breakfast could have been a little friendlier

Cons: We booked for a lake view and we got a side window that had a huge tree outside and made the room dark, and only a glimpse of water which was the lake
