We spent an overnight stay in this establishment and were shown to a 5th Floor room with restricted headroom due to the roof at this level. The room was ensuite with a small bathroom, the bath had a shower and glass panel screen to one end. To get to this room we had to climb a set of stairs as this looked to have been part of the servants quarters. The room was very small with a very hard double bed, television that coulnot be fully viewed from the bed, a small window and adequate wardrobe space for an overnight stay. There was a small well stocked mini bar. The over bath shower was little better than a dribble, we did report this to the management but found that nothing was done about the water pressure. Breakfast was served in the resteraunt to the front of the hotel, this took some time to both arrive and take the order, despite being only half full when we arrived, little attempt was made by the Breakfast staff to place people in there requested seating as at most time they were not present. The buffet to the centre of the room was limited with an emphasis on bread products. The hotel is in a very convenient location for those attending concerts at The Royal Albert Hall however it has seen better days with both decoration and management needing some overhaul. This was an expensive overnight stay in limited accommodation, one we will NOT be repeating.
Lovely room. Excellent for going to the Albert Hall
Restaurant was expensive for what it was. Quantity of food small. Waiting staff had BO. Service slow. Advertised pre theatre menu with glass of house wine included in cost but this was not the case
Cleaning staff are hard working Library space pleasant
Front desk staff during daylight Method of charging double for same room over period of 5 days Awful plumbing (trickle hot water in tub) No hot water one night No reduction in room rate as a consequence... merely offered an upgrade and lunch Am I likely to want to return...hmmm not with the sneaky payment strategy but that is presumably on me for not noticing on booking.com
This is a gem of a hotel- a little retro- with Rollin Stones connections: features on the cover of Beggars Banquet: and, of course, the signature “Sympathy for the Devil” cocktail. It’s the place to stay if you are going to the Albert Hall for a concert. This was our second stay here, and we intend to stay here whenever we visit Londinium.
This is a 'heritage' hotel that delivered very well for us when visiting the Royal Albert Hall. The bar has a combination feel to it in that it is decorated in the style that befits the rest of the hotel, with a nod to some relevant rock history and atmosphere of lively revelers enjoying their Saturday night. We had a smaller room above the bar that was charming and comfortable enough for us and we didn't feel that there was much intrusion from below.
The 'pre concert menu' option is convenient in the restaurant and is pleasantly run. Although there was nothing wrong with the food per say, we did feel that it was quite average and underwhelming fare for the prestigious title of the promoted chef.
