I liked the staff at Hertz very attentive and explained everything.Cons:
The price changed based on booking. It was supposed to be 86 euro and ended up to be 228 because of insurance. I chose insurance on the booking and the agent said i didnt. so seemed weird. I was too tired to argue. The car had a bad clutch and really going go up hill with out a running start. again i was too far and too tired to argue. I just dealt with it. Typically this is why i dont like renting like this. but when they have you over a barrel.2.0 Poor

I was never able to pick up the car due to the car station did not accept my credit card. The car rental should explain prior to the reservation the credit card that tey accept, so that the costumer could make a proper selection. Therefore, dont waste time and money!!!!SICILY BY CAR

Firstly, I had wrote in to say I'd prefer a Mercedes or anything except for an alfa romeo and what I got in the end was an alfa. Also, I wasn't informed that I needed 2 credit cards for deposit ; one visa and one mastercard which I did not prepare beforehand which resulted in so much trouble and delay when I picked up the car at almost 12am. The people did a quick check on the vehicle and processed the return quickly.Cons:
We left a very important item (an heirloom glass jar filled with sand) in the center console of the vehicle and when we called the drop-off location they were very rude about helping us find the item. Then we called back and they still were not helpful. It seems they did not look through the vehicle thoroughly and we have still not been able to recover the item.Dollar

I made a reservation for a Ford focus or similar sized vehicle. Sixt only had a Jeep Renegade available for me - a full sized SUV. I was driving on the Amalfi Coast thr next ř days and purposely booked with them to get a smaller vehicle when navigating the small roads there. We returned the car 50 minutes after our allotted time (2:50pm instead of 2:00pm) because of unexpected traffic and we were charged an additional 100$ for an entire day. The staff says it’s automatic charge past 15 minutes in the computer. We are very upset.7.6 Good

However, we did not receive the BMW 5-Series we reserved, but were required to provide TWO different credit cards that were each charged the full rental amount! Ridiculous! The only other card I had was a debit card which held my money hostage during my vacation. The staff was helpful, but this secret policy is terrible! Cons:
The VW Up is a car with transmission issues as I found out by driving it up that Almalfi Coast roads and then by Googling it. An automatic that stalls and does not kick into gear especially in 2nd is scary uphill and on an autoroute. You should eliminate the car from your fleet. The pick up and drop off don't have much space and it was stressful. Then again Naples is a hectic and stressful city. I don't feel like I got a fair deal because of the fear of not being able to accelerate and count on the car to actually move especially in a place with so many very aggressive drivers.2.4 Poor

Nothing - when I finally got to leave the car at the rental place.Cons:
No signs, employees could not be distinguished from the people on the street - no badges, shirts. Instructions inadequate - you don't drop off at the budget office, you drop off on the other corner of the building which can take up to 30 mins to get to by car because it's Napoli. Then, the process jumped from $268 (which was on the form at check in, and in line with what was promised on kayak) to 298 €!! That's $340. And kayak has no customer support and budget won't address this problem so I guess I will issue a charge back with my credit card company.B-Rent

We ended up liking Fiats...everything else was completely dominated & overshadowed by a level of customer service difficult to describe...Cons:
Let's be clear the car, a Fiat, was an outstanding auto, but--- How this company gets away with its level of customer service is stunning...to start the up-selling at time of pick-up, no matter how friendly, is manipulative & simply a money grab; but then---we had a terrifying incident where we forced into a wall by an oncoming motorcycle who appeared to do it on purpose; car was scraped & dented; repeated phone calls to Europcar went to voice mail with NO response to messages; repeated emails were ignored except 2 weeks later we got their standard "difficult question, need time to answer" response, which they always eventually send no matter the question; [I'm still waiting for a response to one I sent in January!!]......of course there was no one in the office to talk with when we dropped the car off in Florence, but I think they will blame that on our "early" flight time, 9:55am...and today we got the bill: after renting the car for a month for 221 euros plus liability insurance, [plus other difficult-to-understand charges], our final bill is 1708 euros...it is going to take longer than our vacation lasted just to figure out the bill!!6.0 Okay

Cons:
Being charged 300€ + 90€ processing fee?! For a 2cm scratch the car had a much bigger scratch when we picked it up and the door would not close properly. So Europcar is not spending the funds it receives to repair their vehicles. And a clearly arbitrary system of damage fees.SURPRICE CAR RENTAL
