The two Sixt associates we dealt with, Ms. Cristiana Frene (Porto Airport) and Ms Silvia Tavares (central Porto), were absolutely wonderful -- very genuinely friendly and professional. Ms. Frene in particular spent considerable time giving me tips on how to make the most of our long weekend in the city. Absolutely fabulous experience, please do pass on the positive feedback!!!At drop-off, a number of nicks in the car were noted which were most certainly present when we had picked up the vehicle. We know this because we took detailed photos at the time of pick-up; however, as is usually the case in these circumstances with car hire companies, no Sixt associate was present at pickup to document on paper before driving off, but there was of course Ms. Tavares there at dropoff to note the damage. Ms. Tavares was clear that we would not be held responsible, as we had purchased extra insurance. However, this is an ethical issue of principle: Sixt's own insurance should pay for this, not mine. In any other context the approach taken would be considered insurance fraud. Again, we have the photos to show the damages pre-dated our rental.

Staff very professional and really willing to address customer expectations.Shuttles could be quicker, but I understand this is more an issue from the airport authorities, the traffic is chaotic on the arrivals area!

Ground personnel was very helpful and courteous!Don’t have time to read the fine print in buying maximum insurance for the vehicle. Not clearly explained, for the amount of insurance that we pay there are too many things not covered! It took a few days for them to bill my credit card, never received a clearance. No operators manual in the Car.

Faster pick-up and drop-off. That process was very slow, with just 1 or 2 employees checking in. There appeared to be at least 3-4 other employees standing around without much to do who could have helped. Add-on fees for insurance seemed excessive.

Stay awayI rented a Mercedes or BMW and paid extra for that. They gave me a 3 year old Opel which was dirty inside and outside. The car had a ton of scratches on the outside when I picked it up. Upon return they sent me a bill for a scratch repair and are attempting to charge me for it. Avoid

NothingSixt had no clue about what was agreed witn carrentals.com. I had asked to pick up at city center location and the address was at the airport, and they couldn’t help. I had asked for a child seat, at the beginning the atendent said she didn’t have the information and had no seats available, after 10 minutes she found the reservation and a (very dirty) seat. I had ordered for insurance on carrentals.com but the atendent had no information on her system to confirm it. I had to do an international call to carrentals.com to confirm it, but on the system I had no insurance included and, because Sixt had started my process, carrentals.com couldn’t sell the insurance anymore. Carrentals.com asked me to call allianz insurance to buy directly from them. I called Allianz (another international call) and they couldn’t sell the insurance because I was not an US resident ;(. After more than one hour to pick up a car, the Sixt atendent sold me a very expensive insurance - more than 4 times of carrental.com ‘ price. A real nightmare to rent a car.

HorribleLong wait at counter. Aggressive selling of ‘necessary’ add ons. Tried to give us smart car stating it was ‘equivalent’ to what we ordered - it was not. Forced to upgrade to larger car when luggage didn’t fit in smart car. Long wait for car. Then when we returned it, they all of a sudden found very small scratch on rims and charged us for it. That scratch was most certainly not us, but seeing as we didn’t see the tiny mark when we eventually picked up the car we had to pay. All in all, very disappointing and definitely don’t recommend.

Fast drop off, but...fast drop offIn Sixt, they don't give us the credit card's bloking money receipt, neither unblock. In one last booking, I had a problem to rehave back the money that was blocked for (i think) the full fuel tank.
